Chapter 128: Side Story Part 1 Episode 4 – Home Sweet Home

At this moment, Han-geon was so happy that there was nothing more he could wish for.

It truly felt as though he had everything.

A happy family and a place to call home.

He was grateful for all of it beyond what words could express, but what he was most thankful for was Eun-gyeol’s heart.

The traces of love left by a man who had thought, right up until the very end, about how to make him happy.

Up until now, Eun-gyeol had tried desperately not to rush their relationship.

He was afraid that acting hastily might cause things to go awry.

He worried that Han-geon might step back.

He feared that, falling back into old habits, he might unknowingly act on impulse and disappoint him.

He tried his best to avoid that, so much so that even Han-geon could see the effort.

Perhaps Eun-gyeol had longed for a home just for the three of them as much as Han-geon had.

Or maybe even more.

Yet he endured patiently, carefully gauging Han-geon’s heart and proceeding with caution.

As he planned something this big all on his own, what must Eun-gyeol have felt like.

He must have been so excited, wanting to see Han-geon’s delighted face and the smile he would wear when surprised.

Thinking that made Eun-gyeol suddenly seem unbearably lovable.

Trying to calm his wildly pounding heart, Han-geon slowly looked around the house.

No matter where he cast his gaze, scenes of the three of them living happily together naturally came to mind.

Eating meals together at the dining table.

Watching TV together in the living room.

Putting their child to sleep together.

“Up we go.

Our Eun-han is all done with his bath, right?

Let’s get dressed quickly.”

At some point, Eun-gyeol came out carrying the freshly washed child in his arms.

Applying lotion and dressing him in pajamas with practiced ease, he now looked every bit like a proper dad to anyone watching.

Despite his pants being roughly rolled up to his knees and the casual short-sleeved T-shirt he wore while bathing the child, the sight of Eun-gyeol smiling brightly as he looked at Eun-han was dazzlingly beautiful.

“Ba-ba.

Good.

Good.”

“Mm.

Our Eun-han likes Daddy?

Daddy likes you too.”

After drying his hair until it was all fluffy, Eun-han clapped his hands and laughed.

When Eun-gyeol lifted him up and offered his cheek, Eun-han showered him with generous kisses.

Watching that scene, Han-geon smiled.

Seeing the most handsome man in the world holding the cutest child in the world made his heart swell until it felt ready to burst.

After playing around with Eun-gyeol for a while, Eun-han let out a big yawn and rubbed his eyes.

Now that he thought about it, it was really time to put the child to bed.

The three of them entered the baby’s room side by side.

They laid Eun-han down on the car-shaped bed and then lay on either side of him.

“Sleep tight, our Eun-han….”

The gentle, sweet voice rang pleasantly in both Han-geon’s and Eun-han’s ears.

It felt like his ears were melting.

Thinking that absentmindedly, Han-geon smiled as he recalled the Bitter Sweet concert long ago, when he had guarded Eun-gyeol with an earpiece in and listened to him sing.

Back then, even as he suffered alone with unrequited love, he had tried desperately to stay composed and hide his feelings.

It was a memory that felt bittersweet yet now only lovingly dear.

“He fell asleep already.

He must have been really sleepy.”

And now… Eun-gyeol smiled so sweetly with the child they had made together between them.

That beautiful smile he had once shown to countless fans was now reserved solely for him.

Why did that fact make his heart flutter so intensely today?

“…Let’s go.”

Han-geon whispered softly.

He left the room with Eun-gyeol after he nodded.

It was time to finish looking around the house.

As Han-geon slowly walked through the house, he asked Eun-gyeol a question.

“We should wash up and rest too.

Where’s the bedroom?”

“Uh….”

Eun-gyeol hesitated uncharacteristically.

When Han-geon looked at him with a puzzled expression, something surprising happened.

Eun-gyeol’s earlobes suddenly flushed red.

As if that weren’t enough, the heat spread all the way down to his neck, making Han-geon blink in confusion.

“What?

What’s wrong?”

“Well….”

What was this.

This really wasn’t like Cha Eun-gyeol at all.

By now, Han-geon was genuinely curious about the reason, but Eun-gyeol’s anxious habit of licking his lips with a red tongue looked so cute that Han-geon deliberately refrained from urging him on and simply watched quietly.

After fidgeting for a long while and rubbing the back of his neck, Eun-gyeol finally spoke with difficulty.

“For now… I prepared the marital bedroom… as one room.”

“…..”

“Would that… still feel uncomfortable for you?”

Biting his lip and unable to even meet Han-geon’s eyes, he looked just like a bashful middle schooler.

As Han-geon stared blankly at Eun-gyeol like that, a faint smile slowly spread across his face.

He barely managed to suppress the urge to laugh out loud.

“If it’s even a little uncomfortable… tell me honestly.

I thought that might be the case, so I went ahead and reserved another bed.”

When Han-geon said nothing, Eun-gyeol seemed to grow more flustered, his words spilling out faster and faster.

His face was still bright red, and he still couldn’t look at Han-geon properly.

“There’s an extra empty room anyway, so I’ll fix it up as your room right away.

So….”

Han-geon suddenly reached out.

Grabbing Eun-gyeol by the collar with both hands and yanking him close, he made Eun-gyeol’s eyes widen.

The eyes that had refused to look at him finally took Han-geon in fully.

The moment he saw himself reflected clearly in those dark pupils, Han-geon slowly leaned in.

It was something he had never done before, but there was no hesitation or fear.

“….!”

The instant their lips touched, Eun-gyeol jolted violently.

The body Han-geon held felt stiff, like a broken robot.

Finding Eun-gyeol completely frozen both funny and adorable, Han-geon smiled slightly.

In doing so, he failed to notice his own heart pounding as if it might burst out of his chest.

After giving him a short, silent kiss, Han-geon pulled away.

Eun-gyeol still looked dazed, as though he were dreaming.

“…Are you nervous?”

“What is… that….”

“You’re frozen right now.

Completely.”

Even as he teased him, Han-geon understood.

They had shared light peck kisses before, but those had always been initiated by Eun-gyeol.

Han-geon had never been the one to make the first move like this.

Thanks to Eun-gyeol’s devoted efforts, Han-geon’s heart, once frozen like winter ground, had slowly thawed with the coming of spring.

Yet even after they reunited, Eun-gyeol had been extremely restrained when it came to physical intimacy and treated Han-geon with almost ascetic care.

Han-geon, too, had believed that recovering his body and heart came first, so they had decided to take their time and look at each other slowly.

Rather than recklessly tearing open half-healed wounds, he wanted to carefully shape this renewed relationship with Eun-gyeol into something beautiful.

But the moment he stepped forward and kissed Eun-gyeol for the first time, Han-geon knew.

The frozen heart had already melted completely.

Now it was time to plant the seeds that would bloom into something beautiful and precious just for the two of them.

“How could I not freeze.

You… kissed me first.”

His innocent stiffness lasted only a moment.

Murmuring that today really was an anniversary after all, Eun-gyeol strode toward Han-geon, his voice already slipping out of control.

Startled by the dangerous way he closed the distance, Han-geon tried to step back, but a strong arm wrapped firmly around his waist.

Eun-gyeol pressed his lips against his in a rush.

After pecking his lips a few times with soft sounds, he lunged as if he meant to devour him.

A shockingly hot tongue pushed inside.

As Han-geon hesitated, that firm tongue swept over his palate and traced along his teeth.

The ferocity forced shallow breaths from him.

Savoring the saliva pooling in his mouth, Eun-gyeol teased sensitive spots relentlessly.

Even as he gave him no chance to breathe and pressed in insistently, Eun-gyeol’s voice, sounding as though a fuse had blown, kept murmuring endlessly.

“I go crazy every time I look at you.

Even while preparing this bedroom, my body felt like it was going to burn up.

Han-geon… why are you the only one who seems so calm?”

“Ha, Cha, Eun-gyeol….”

“What.

I’ve been… damn it… always on the verge of losing it because of you….”

His heat-soaked voice rang low, stripped of reason.

At the same time, a fresh pear scent spread through the air.

Sweet enough to make one dizzy, yet at once alluring and heavy, Eun-gyeol’s scent wrapped gently around him.

Feeling Eun-gyeol’s pheromones surge almost violently, Han-geon panted as he relaxed his body and let himself lean into him.

“Who says… hah… I’m calm.”

Han-geon’s own voice, lowered by shared excitement, answered back.

“Cancel it.”

“…Huh?”

“The bed.

We don’t need it anymore, so… you can cancel the reservation.”
