Chapter 133: Side Story Part 2 Episode 2 – Back to Being A Successful Fan

For a long time now, he had truly wanted to work again.

While staying back and forth at their parents’ houses, he had felt a bit guilty and hesitant about leaving a young child behind just to work, so he had waited patiently for the right time.

But at the last family meal, both sets of parents had been the first to say that if he wanted to work, he should go ahead, so there was no longer any reason to put it off.

After accessing a job search site, Han-geon first searched for security guard positions, the field he was most familiar with.

He clicked through several listings, carefully noting down company names, conditions, and locations in a notebook, and then also looked into positions as a taekwondo instructor.

In terms of pay, security work was better.

His experience was also far longer in that field.

“Should I go with security after all.”

He muttered to himself as he filled an entire page of the notebook.

“…..”

Han-geon’s hand, which had been moving busily across the page, slowly came to a stop.

The more he looked into security work, the more layers of memories surfaced and pressed heavily against his chest.

“Haa….”

Letting out a long sigh, Han-geon rubbed his dry face with one hand.

His memories of having once acted as Eun-gyeol’s manager had contributed greatly to his hesitation.

So many things had happened back then that he had no intention of romanticizing that period as something purely beautiful.

It wasn’t simply because he missed those days, nor was that the sole reason he had hesitated about finding a job.

Rather, a question would suddenly arise in his mind.

The manager currently working with Eun-gyeol—someone whose name and face Han-geon didn’t even know—was he being careful not to point the sharp ends of forks or umbrellas toward Eun-gyeol.

Was he driving gently and smoothly while taking him to filming locations.

Did he take good care of him so he wouldn’t get overheated, given how badly he handled heat and warmth.

Those kinds of questions.

They might seem trivial to others, but for a manager who had to take care of every small detail of one person’s life, they were questions that couldn’t be unimportant, and they floated endlessly through Han-geon’s thoughts.

However, being curious about whether Eun-gyeol was getting along well with his new manager and deciding to become that manager himself were completely different matters.

There were two major reasons for Han-geon’s hesitation.

The first was that if Eun-gyeol truly needed him, wouldn’t he have already asked him to come back as his manager.

Given Eun-gyeol’s personality, if he genuinely wanted Han-geon’s return, he would have shown his feelings indirectly and pestered him in an endearing way, but he had never once shown even the slightest sign of that.

Because of that, Han-geon couldn’t help but be cautious about actively considering the idea himself.

He had no intention of burdening or pressuring someone who didn’t want it.

The second reason was that Han-geon needed time to seriously consider whether this was truly what he wanted.

Becoming Eun-gyeol’s security guard had been a dream he had held for most of his life, but it was also a road he had already walked once.

Back then and now, his relationship with Eun-gyeol was incomparably different, but the essence of standing by his side and protecting him remained the same.

Now, Han-geon wanted to do something that would truly make him happy while staying close to the family he loved so dearly.

Just as Eun-gyeol was wearing clothes that suited him and soaring brilliantly, Han-geon wanted the same for himself.

“What are you doing?”

At that moment, a rough pheromone scent mixed with sweat suddenly filled the air.

Eun-gyeol, apparently done with his workout, entered the doorway wiping beads of sweat with a towel draped around his neck.

Han-geon smiled awkwardly.

“Ah, I was just looking into some jobs.”

“…Are you going to be a security guard again?”

“Well, probably.”

Eun-gyeol didn’t answer and simply stared at the monitor.

Han-geon, who had been responding casually while looking at the laptop screen, turned his head with a puzzled expression.

Unexpectedly, Eun-gyeol looked troubled.

“I don’t like it….”

Han-geon blinked as he heard Eun-gyeol’s muttered voice.

Eun-gyeol knew that Han-geon wanted to work, and he had never opposed it before.

If anything, he had always encouraged him to do whatever he wanted.

So why now.

“…What don’t you like?”

“You being a security guard.”

“You don’t like me doing security work?”

“Yeah.”

What was this supposed to mean?

Han-geon furrowed his brows and looked at him silently, demanding an explanation.

After chewing on his lip, Eun-gyeol finally blurted out in a sulky voice.

“When I imagine you dressed up all sharp in a suit, protecting some other bastard….”

“Yeah?”

“I get jealous.

Like I’m going to lose my mind.”

Han-geon, who had been wearing a puzzled expression, finally laughed softly.

So that was it.

Really, one had to acknowledge just how jealous Cha Eun-gyeol was.

“What are you even saying?

That’s what I used to do.”

“I still don’t like it.”

Eun-gyeol puffed out his lips and continued grumbling.

“When I actually think about you going back to that job, it feels really weird.

Whoever that guy is, he’s lucky.

You protecting him.

I’m so jealous I feel like I’m going to die….”

“Alright, enough complaining, and if you’re done working out, go wash up already.”

“…Okay.”

Han-geon deliberately cut him off coldly.

After all, Cha Eun-gyeol’s jealousy applied to both living and nonliving things and struck at any time.

There was no need to assign too much meaning to what had been said lightly, almost like banter.

Eun-gyeol still looked like he had a lot to say, but he obediently went into the bathroom.

He didn’t dare complain further.

Perhaps this was one of the biggest differences from the past.

The way Eun-gyeol couldn’t move an inch at a single word from him felt cute, and sometimes unbearably lovable.

“…Cha Eun-gyeol, idiot.”

Feeling oddly overwhelmed and full, Han-geon muttered to himself.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom.

Imagining Eun-gyeol cooling himself down under the shower while sulking over his jealousy made Han-geon smile again.

When he came out, he’d probably have to give him at least one kiss.

At that moment, buzz, and the short vibration made Han-geon check his phone absentmindedly, only to widen his eyes.

[Han-geon-ssi!

What are you doing?]

The message came with a cute rabbit emoji dancing around.

Unexpectedly, the sender was Yujin.

It had been so long.

After Eun-gyeol’s return, they had exchanged messages a few times, but as Eun-gyeol grew busier, Geonho, Yujin, and even the manager had become busy as well.

They hadn’t been in touch for a while, and a smile naturally crept onto Han-geon’s lips.

He quickly typed out a reply.

[Yujin-noona!

Have you been well?]

[I’m just resting with Eun-gyeol.]

[Kyah!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you send me some pictures of Eun-han? ㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ

Cha Cha doesn’t even send baby photos properly -.-]

Come to think of it, there had been a time when the manager, Geonho, and Yujin had all come over together to see the baby, and Yujin in particular had adored Eun-han.

She had held him the entire time until they left, and remembering that made a soft smile form on Han-geon’s lips.

After selecting a few good photos and sending them, the chat window was flooded with emojis.

Most of them were rabbits dancing or shooting out hearts.

After squealing happily for a while, Yujin suddenly said, “Oh right,” and got to the point.

[It’s nothing big, but both the manager and I were saying we miss you, Han-geon-ssi.

Cha Cha’s off today, so how about we all grab a drink together tonight.

It’s been really, really long.]

While they were still exchanging messages, the bathroom door suddenly flew open.

Eun-gyeol stepped out amid hot steam, roughly drying his hair with a towel, and the moment his eyes met Han-geon’s, he smiled brightly.

Thankfully, there was no trace of his earlier sulking.

As if that weren’t enough, Eun-gyeol even threw him a sly wink before striding over and pressing a kiss to Han-geon’s hair.

“I told you to put some clothes on….”

“Okay.

I’ll put them on right now.”

Answering meekly, Eun-gyeol jumped up and tossed aside the towel he had been wearing only around his lower half.

Han-geon bit his lip and turned his gaze away.

In front of him, Eun-gyeol had no sense of shame at all, stripping without hesitation, and whether he did it on purpose or not, he was truly incorrigible.

“Who is it.

Who are you smiling and messaging like that with.”

Now dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts, Eun-gyeol sat close beside him.

His earlier obedient attitude was gone, replaced by an instantly sharp tone.

Han-geon snorted softly and showed him the phone.

“Yujin-noona.”

“Why is she contacting you.

If she has something to say, she should say it to me since I see her all the time.”

“Here you go again.

It’s nothing.

She’s asking if we want to grab a drink together, the four of us, since it’s been a while.”

“What.

Why are they interrupting.

We’re finally having a date.”

Eun-gyeol immediately stuck his lip out.

He ran his tongue over the inside of his mouth irritably, then, with visible effort, handed the decision over to Han-geon.

“Do whatever you want.

If you want to see those people, go see them.”

“Those people.”

Han-geon burst out laughing at Eun-gyeol’s earnest attempt to be considerate.

Even while laughing, he hesitated a little.

Days when the entire team was off together were extremely rare.

And honestly, he did miss them.

But he also really wanted to go on a date with Eun-gyeol, and chances like this had been scarce lately.

After thinking quickly, Han-geon’s eyes lit up as he made a suggestion.

“Then how about this.

We leave Eun-han with my mom, go on our date first, and then meet everyone late at night for a light drink.”

“Hm.”

Eun-gyeol rolled his eyes as he thought.

If Eun-gyeol had stubbornly refused, Han-geon had been prepared to give up and enjoy their date more leisurely, but unexpectedly, Eun-gyeol nodded easily.

“Okay.

If you’re fine with it, I am too.”

“Of course I’m fine.

I kind of want to see the manager, Geonho, and Yujin-noona too.”

“Why do you want to see that bastard Kim Geonho.”

They had been doing so well, and now this again.

Seeing his beautiful brows immediately knit together, Han-geon shot him a look.

Eun-gyeol instantly changed tactics, drooping his eyebrows and putting on a pitiful expression.
