Chapter 17: A Shared Nap in the Dorm

The meal concluded.

According to Gu Meilan, she would find a time to meet Dai Canglan, and Song Qinghuan and the others simply needed to wait.

After finishing their meal, Song Qinghuan intended to return with Lin Shishi.

Gu Meilan, however, stopped them, a smile gracing her lips. “You’ve had quite a bit to drink,” she said. “Why don’t you come see my dorm room? I’m living alone now, you know. Besides, with all that alcohol, you really shouldn’t go to class. What if you’re not careful, and your little darling—my beautiful sister-in-law—gets snatched away by someone else?”

Song Qinghuan frowned. “You’re not plotting anything, are you? Let’s be clear beforehand, don’t you dare be perverse.”

Gu Meilan raised her hands in a gesture of surrender, her eyes curving into crescent moons as she laughed. “Don’t worry, at most I’ll just tease. I wouldn’t dare do anything else. At most… I’ll just flirt a little.”

Song Qinghuan immediately pulled Lin Shishi into an embrace, then turned to the beauty. “If this girl dares to bully you, tell me at once. If she lays a single finger on you, I’ll chop off one of hers. If she dares to touch two fingers, I’ll chop off two.”

Gu Meilan immediately pouted. “Look at her, got a wife and forgot her best friend. Hmph, how heartless.”

The girls giggled amongst themselves, soon arriving at the dormitory building.

****

The climate in Lanfang Nation remained hot and humid in October.

Sunlight streamed through the window at the end of the corridor, casting bright patches of light on the floor.

Girls coming and going in the hallway still wore thin clothing: camisoles, hot pants, and short skirts, revealing stretches of pale skin.

Some girls even wore low-cut tank tops, showcasing delicate collarbones and subtly alluring curves.

As they spotted Lin Shishi, their gazes lingered involuntarily.

Lin Shishi’s attire blended sexiness, cuteness, and an adorable charm, enough to captivate any girl.

Most striking of all was her face—youthful and pure, with a pair of large, dewy eyes, long, thick lashes, a delicate nose bridge, and softly pink lips. When she subtly pursed them, there was an innocent allure.

Other girls around them whispered, their eyes tracing her form.

Those gazes held envy, jealousy, and a strong sense of greed and possessiveness.

Lin Shishi shyly covered her small face.

Song Qinghuan, however, nonchalantly wrapped an arm around the young girl’s neck, then霸气无比的瞪着这些窃窃私语的女生. and imperiously glared at the whispering girls.

Indeed, under the intimidating pressure of Song Qinghuan’s gaze, the numerous girls lowered their heads.

Lin Shishi, meanwhile, hugged Song Qinghuan’s waist tightly. With Song Qinghuan by her side, her sense of security was almost overwhelming.

The three girls quickly arrived at Gu Meilan’s dorm room door.

Gu Meilan opened the door, stepping aside to invite the two in.

Her dorm was spacious, designed for two people, but she lived there alone.

Two wide, soft beds with light blue sheets were positioned by the window.

A flat-screen TV hung on the wall, opposite a small sofa and a desk.

The air conditioner hummed quietly, its cool breeze dispelling the outdoor heat.

Gu Meilan walked to the refrigerator, pulled open the door, and turned back with a smile. “What would you like to drink? Coke, Sprite, or orange juice?”

“I’ll have a Coke,” Song Qinghuan replied, walking over to the sofa and settling down. Her long legs casually crossed, her skirt fabric stretched taut, accentuating an alluring curve.

“I want Coke too. Little sister-in-law, what about you?”

Gu Meilan’s gaze drifted towards Lin Shishi, briefly sweeping over her, lingering for an extra half-second particularly around her hips.

Lin Shishi softly said, “I’ll have a Coke too.”

*Crack, crack, crack* went three sounds as the Coke cans were opened, bubbles hissing softly.

Gu Meilan handed them over, her fingers brushing Lin Shishi’s hand inadvertently.

Lin Shishi trembled slightly, taking the can and sipping from it.

The three sat in the air-conditioned room, enjoying the refreshing coolness.

Gu Meilan leaned back in her chair, yawning, then said, “If you’re sleepy, you can take a nap here. I’m going to lie down for a bit too; I feel a little dizzy.”

With that, she took off her high heels—Gu Meilan’s feet were also beautiful, with long, elegant arches and well-proportioned toes—then slipped into the inner bed, pulling the thin blanket over herself. Before long, her breathing became even.

The room fell silent, save for the low hum of the air conditioner.

Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi exchanged a glance, and the atmosphere suddenly grew subtle and ambiguous.

Outside the window, sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting alternating stripes of light and shadow on the wooden floor.

“Are you sleepy?” Song Qinghuan asked, her voice softer than before, with a hint of husky tenderness.

Lin Shishi bit her lower lip. “Hmm, not really.”

Song Qinghuan, however, moved closer to her, their thighs touching as they sat on the same sofa.

Song Qinghuan carried a faint scent of perfume, mixed with a hint of alcohol, wafting warmly towards Lin Shishi.

“Let’s sleep for a bit together. We’ve both had drinks anyway; it’ll help us sober up.”

Lin Shishi nodded.

The two girls took off their shoes and climbed onto the empty bed opposite Gu Meilan’s.

The bed was wide, more than enough for two.

Song Qinghuan, fearing Gu Meilan might try something mischievous later and flirt with Lin Shishi, had Lin Shishi lie on the inner side by the wall, while she slept on the outer side.

As they lay down, Lin Shishi’s hair fanned out on the pillow, some strands loosely framing her cheeks, making her skin appear even fairer.

Song Qinghuan turned to face her, the faint sweet scent of Lin Shishi drifting to her nose.

She couldn’t help but draw closer, her hand resting on Lin Shishi’s waist.

The waist was truly slender; her hand could almost encircle most of it.

The thin red dress fabric allowed her to feel the warmth and softness of the skin beneath.

Lin Shishi stirred slightly, but did not pull away.

Song Qinghuan chuckled softly, then suddenly rolled on top of her…

…exceptionally clear in the quiet room.

Suddenly, a muffled grumble came from the opposite bed: “What are you two… doing?”

It was Gu Meilan.

She had turned over to face them, her eyes half-open.

Song Qinghuan immediately covered Lin Shishi’s mouth, while her other hand pulled the thin blanket over both of them.

She lowered her voice, speaking towards Gu Meilan’s direction. “Go back to sleep, you single dog.”

Gu Meilan snorted, narrowing her eyes as she looked over.

She probably understood what was happening, her lips twitching, but she was too lazy to interfere. She turned over and closed her eyes again.

Only then did Song Qinghuan release her hand from Lin Shishi’s mouth, whispering in her ear, “See? She’s not bothering us.”

****

The two lay there, embracing.

The air conditioner continued to run, keeping the room cool.

But under the blanket, it was warm as spring.

Occasionally, the distant laughter of students drifted from outside the window, further highlighting the intimate secrecy of their small world.

Gu Meilan remained still on her bed, seemingly fast asleep.

Yet, Song Qinghuan noticed her ears were faintly red, and her fingers unconsciously gripped the bedsheet.

She was feigning sleep.

Song Qinghuan’s lips curved into a smile. Without exposing her, she simply held Lin Shishi tighter, whispering in her ear, “Sleep, we’ll talk when you wake up.”

Lin Shishi hummed, found a comfortable position in her embrace, and closed her eyes.

Song Qinghuan also closed her eyes, her hand still resting on Lin Shishi’s waist.

Their breaths gradually synchronized, intertwining into a peaceful rhythm amidst the low hum of the air conditioner.

Outside the window, the October sun remained bright, casting neat patterns of light and shadow on the floor beside the bed through the blinds.

Occasionally, sounds of doors opening and closing, girls’ laughter, and faint music drifted through the dorm building… but none of it concerned them anymore.

On that small bed, two girls embraced in sleep, their hair intertwined.

On the opposite bed, Gu Meilan turned over, facing the wall, a slight smile playing on her lips.

She wasn’t asleep, but she also saw no reason to disturb them.
