Chapter 62: Summit View

Guo Fu let out a giggle, wearing an expression that said ‘I knew it.’

“No problem, of course not.”

She laughed, “Come to think of it, I also like to call my Minmin a little pet. Isn’t that right, my little pet?”

As she spoke, she reached out and pulled Zhao Min, whose face was still slightly flushed, closer, gently patting her slender waist.

Zhao Min, startled by the pat, shivered slightly and let out a soft “Ah,” shooting Guo Fu a reproachful glare.

By now, Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi could clearly see that the pair before them were obviously a couple as well.

Guo Fu’s gaze returned to Lin Shishi, filled with undisguised admiration. “Little cutie, you and Shishi are both little cuties. But I have to say, Shishi is… exceptionally beautiful.”

Zhao Min immediately let out a dissatisfied snort and pouted. “Hmph! Praising another girl’s beauty right in front of me.”

Guo Fu quickly made a show of slapping her own forehead. “Oh dear, of course my Minmin is the cutest!”

As she coaxed, her hand mischievously pinched Zhao Min’s waist again.

Only then did Zhao Min’s anger subside, a hint of a smile appearing on her face, but her eyes involuntarily darted to her right hand, and she sniffled again.

Guo Fu’s gaze meaningfully swept over Lin Shishi’s chest—though hidden by the dress, the jingling sound from earlier when Lin Shishi crouched and stood up had already hinted at something.

Guo Fu immediately leaned close to Zhao Min and whispered something.

Zhao Min burst out laughing.

Song Qinghuan felt a little annoyed—although Lin Shishi seemed weak, only she herself had the right to bully her. As for others, even gossiping behind her back made Song Qinghuan angry.

So Song Qinghuan took Lin Shishi’s arm and said softly, “Come on, let’s ignore them—”

Lin Shishi obediently nodded.

But soon, the whispers of the two girls came from behind.

“By the way, my hand has a smell.”

“What kind of smell?”

“Smell it.”

“A bit sweet… Did you not wash your hands after eating the sugar cake?”

Song Qinghuan, walking ahead, finally couldn’t help but let out a snicker.

Lin Shishi, however, buried her entire face in the crook of Song Qinghuan’s arm, her ears reddening to transparency, her toes curling tightly against the ground inside her shoes.

The girl whispered pleadingly to Song Qinghuan, “Master… can we walk faster and lose them? I really, really don’t want to walk with them anymore… I hate it…”

Seeing Lin Shishi’s mortified expression, Song Qinghuan felt that if they continued, her little pet might evaporate on the spot.

So Song Qinghuan smiled, took Lin Shishi’s hand, and quickened their pace, soon leaving Guo Fu and Zhao Min behind.

After climbing a short distance along the stone path, Lin Shishi suddenly cried out, “Ouch,” and stopped, breathing heavily.

“What’s wrong, my Water Fairy? Again…?”

Song Qinghuan turned back, looking at Lin Shishi’s pale face and the fine sweat on her temples. “We’ve only climbed less than half the way.”

“I’m really tired this time, Master…”

Lin Shishi’s voice carried a hint of coquettishness and grievance. She leaned against the railing by the roadside and slowly crouched down. “And… my feet hurt.”

As she spoke, she carefully took off her right pink sneaker and then removed the matching short sock.

A delicate little foot, carved like white jade, was exposed to the air.

On the girl’s heel and near the side of her little toe, there were indeed two shallow, fresh red marks, caused by friction from ill-fitting shoes.

“What a little pitiful thing,” Song Qinghuan said, immediately feeling distressed.

She knelt on one knee, carefully examined Lin Shishi’s foot, and gently touched the red marks with her finger. “Does it hurt?”

“Mm—” Lin Shishi curled her toes.

Song Qinghuan sighed, helped her put her sock and shoe back on, tied the laces, then stood up and crouched down with her back to Lin Shishi. “Come on, I’ll carry you.”

Lin Shishi’s eyes lit up, and she smiled sweetly. “Thank you, Master!”

Without hesitation, she lay onto Song Qinghuan’s warm back, wrapping her arms around her neck.

Song Qinghuan steadily supported Lin Shishi’s thighs and lifted her up with ease.

Lin Shishi was very light, almost no burden for Song Qinghuan, whose inner strength was profound.

She adjusted her posture to make Lin Shishi more comfortable, then took steps and continued toward the mountaintop.

Lin Shishi lay on Song Qinghuan’s back, her cheek pressed against the warm side of her neck, catching the fresh, pleasant scent of Song Qinghuan mixed with a faint hint of sweat.

This feeling of being completely carried and closely attached gave her immense peace of mind. The earlier shame and fatigue gradually dissipated, replaced by a lazy, dependent happiness.

After about another twenty minutes, Song Qinghuan, carrying Lin Shishi, finally reached the top of Blue Mountain.

The summit was a relatively open platform paved with flat stone slabs, surrounded by stone railings.

There weren’t many people at the top at this moment—only a few women who looked like town residents gathered in a pavilion to the side, chatting and laughing.

Song Qinghuan gently set Lin Shishi down.

Lin Shishi’s feet touched the ground, and she moved her slightly numb ankles. Then she excitedly took Song Qinghuan’s hand and walked to the eastern railing of the platform.

“Master, look! That’s my home!”

Lin Shishi pointed down the mountain.

From the summit, the outline of the town was fully visible.

Lin Shishi’s two-story building stood out among the many houses, appearing small and cozy, like a little matchbox.

Further away stretched the boundless, deep blue Pacific Ocean.

Where the sea met the sky, there was a hazy yet magnificent dividing line.

Sunlight sprinkled on the sea, shimmering like countless golden specks.

The mountain wind brushed their faces, bringing the salty scent of the sea and the freshness of the forest. The view was vast and refreshing.

“It’s really beautiful…”

Song Qinghuan sighed with heartfelt admiration, also stunned by the magnificent scenery.

She took out her phone, adjusted the angle, captured the view below and Lin Shishi’s radiant smile together, and pressed the shutter.

Lin Shishi bounced around the platform like a joyful fawn, then ran to a prominent rock on the other side.

The rock was flat and wide, an excellent spot for viewing.

“Master, come here! The sea looks even clearer and prettier from here!”

Song Qinghuan walked over with a smile.

Standing on the rock, the view was indeed unobstructed. The vast Pacific seemed within arm’s reach, and the sound of waves seemed faintly audible.

Song Qinghuan watched Lin Shishi’s twin ponytails and skirt fluttering in the wind, saw her excited, glowing face, and suddenly remembered the practice photos she had taken of her during their last trip to another mountain.

Those photos were still safely stored in an encrypted album on her phone.
