Join the ServerLin Mo and Song Qinghuan exchanged a glance, then both burst into laughter.
As the laughter subsided, Lin Mo’s smile faded. She looked at Song Qinghuan, her tone turning serious as she spoke in a low voice.
“Qinghuan, as long as you young people play your games with mutual affection and take care to stay safe, I, as a mother, have no objections. I know Shishi. This might just be her nature. But…”
She paused. “You must remember: her future status might be extraordinary. Some things are fine as games, but you need to know your limits. Protect her body, and… preserve her future image as much as possible. After all, one day she may face the eyes of the entire nation.”
Song Qinghuan’s playful expression vanished. She nodded solemnly.
“Auntie, rest assured. I know what I’m doing. I know what to do and what not to do, and I know how to protect her. I love her not just for her cuteness and her body, but because she is Lin Shishi.”
Those sincere and powerful words set Lin Mo’s heart completely at ease.
She took Song Qinghuan’s hand, her eyes brimming with relief.
“Good. You’re a good child. I trust you. I… I am truly happy today.”
Night fell. Under the influence of medication and exhaustion, Lin Mo soon fell into a deep sleep.
Because Mayor Song Siyu had personally visited, the hospital paid extra attention to their care. Efficiency was high.
Before long, a nurse came by and politely informed them that, to accommodate the family and patient, the patient in the adjacent bed had been moved to another ward.
The vacated bed was immediately outfitted with fresh, clean sheets and pillows.
“Miss Song, Miss Lin, this bed is for your rest. If you need an extra one, we’ll arrange it right away,” the head nurse said personally.
Song Qinghuan glanced at the bed—small, but big enough for two girls to squeeze together—and smiled, shaking her head.
“No need for now. This bed is enough.”
And so, that small companion cot became Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi’s “love nest” for the night.
They squeezed into the narrow covers, bodies pressed tightly together.
Lin Shishi curled up, back to Song Qinghuan, like a little beast seeking shelter.
Song Qinghuan wrapped her arms around her from behind, one arm crossing over her slender waist, her palm naturally resting on her flat, smooth belly.
The lights went out—
But it didn’t stay quiet for long—
“Hm?”
“Shh… keep your voice down. Don’t wake Auntie.”
“I want to sleep early?”
The girl’s toes curled involuntarily under the blanket, rubbing against the rough sheets.
Song Qinghuan gently bit the girl’s earlobe. “Not yet, my good baby. It’s not midnight yet—after all, you have to… pay off the medical bills.”
Lin Shishi: “…”
What a wicked dog owner!
“But it might rain…”
“Don’t worry, I have an umbrella.”
Song Qinghuan referred to a waterproof pad.
Outside, it began to pour—
The air also grew slightly damp.
Not just from the rain’s moisture…
In the hospital bed, Lin Mo wasn’t actually fast asleep.
Through the haze, she heard faint sounds and smelled the humidity.
The woman smirked slightly in the dark, then turned over. She chose to keep sleeping.

Since Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi needed to accompany Lin Mo, Zhang Shulan had already made arrangements and approved their leave.
So, over the following days, the two girls stayed in the hospital, diligently taking care of Lin Mo’s meals and daily needs, chatting with her to relieve her boredom.
Of course, during their free time, they continued their debt-repayment game without rest.
Of course…
Lin Shishi protested against this.
But the protest was futile.
After all, she was the debtor.
And so—
Lin Shishi had no choice but to pay her debts with a pitiful look.
…
One afternoon, Song Qinghuan invited Lin Shishi for a stroll in the small garden behind the hospital—ostensibly a walk, but in reality, more debt repayment…
The girl walked a bit hastily, her steps widening, her cream-white skirt fluttering.
Lin Mo, who was sitting in bed reading, caught a glimpse of fleeting white lace and a conspicuous ring on her thigh out of the corner of her eye.
Lin Mo was momentarily stunned, then couldn’t help but curl her lips into a meaningful smile.
She shook her head and thought to herself.
‘They really have grown up… As a mother, it’s time for me to let go and trust them.’
…
Days passed. Thanks to the two girls’ meticulous care and the excellent treatment conditions provided by the hospital after Mayor Song Siyu’s intervention, Lin Mo’s recovery was exceptionally quick.
Two weeks later, when the attending physician came for a check-up, he couldn’t help but praise her.
“Ms. Lin, your recovery is excellent. The bone healing is ideal, far beyond expectations. At this rate, after a few more days of observation, we can consider discharging you for home recuperation.”
Lin Mo knew full well that this was thanks to Song Qinghuan and her daughter’s careful attention, as well as the various advantages brought by Song Siyu’s influence.
Her heart was filled with gratitude.
However, in stark contrast to her mother’s rapid recovery, Lin Shishi felt that she herself was becoming… more and more deficient.
It was as if her body was being controlled…
She also earned a nickname—
Water Fairy!
Once, in the empty washroom, Song Qinghuan hugged Lin Shishi from behind as she was washing her hands, and couldn’t help teasing her by whispering in her ear.
“So, my little darling, you might have to become a beautiful water fairy for the rest of your life.”
Lin Shishi was so embarrassed her whole body flushed. She squirmed, trying to escape, but was held tight.
“Hmph—wicked owner—stop bullying me—” The girl’s voice was soft as if melting.
“Water Fairy, what did you say? I didn’t catch that,” Song Qinghuan deliberately pressed.
“Mm… nothing… nothing…” Lin Shishi immediately surrendered, not daring to say another word, afraid of being spanked in public or something…
Just then, Lin Mo happened to hobble to the washroom door on her crutches, wanting to get some hot water.
She asked curiously, “What water fairy? What are you two talking about?”
The two girls froze simultaneously, not expecting their quiet teasing to be overheard.
Lin Shishi’s face instantly turned crimson, like a child caught red-handed, nervously fidgeting with the hem of her skirt, her gaze darting, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into.
Song Qinghuan reacted quickly. She immediately released Lin Shishi, turned to face Lin Mo, and put on an impeccable sweet smile.
“Auntie, it’s nothing. I just thought Shishi always looks so dewy, her skin so smooth you could squeeze water out of it, like a lotus flower. Especially beautiful. So I gave her a nickname—Water Fairy. Fits perfectly, doesn’t it?”
As she spoke, she gently pinched Lin Shishi’s tender cheek.
“Oh… I see.”
Lin Mo nodded, her face showing a look of sudden understanding, but the knowing and teasing glint in her eyes couldn’t be entirely hidden.
She looked at her daughter’s red ears and Song Qinghuan’s calm demeanor. She saw through everything like a mirror, but didn’t call them out.
“Alright, you two have fun. I just came to get some water. My legs feel much better today. The doctor said I can probably be discharged tomorrow.”
“Really? That’s great!” Lin Shishi’s attention immediately shifted, and she happily supported her mother.
“Then I’ll accompany Shishi to see you home,” Song Qinghuan promptly offered.
Lin Mo waved her hand.
“No need, no need. You’ve both taken care of me for so long. You should go back to school. I can manage on my own.”
“Auntie, don’t say that,” Song Qinghuan said sincerely. “Seeing you home is the least we can do. Besides, today is the weekend. We don’t have class. When we get home, I’d like to shamelessly ask to taste the dishes Shishi cooks herself. She always tells me your cooking is exquisite, and she learned everything from you.”
