Join the ServerDai Fanghua smiled brightly, pressing the button beside the table. The private room door glided open once more.
Song Qinghuan and Dai Canglan entered in succession. Behind them followed an elegant, beautiful woman: Dai Fanghua’s younger sister, Dai Chunling.
“Speaking of which, we have Canglan to thank this time,” Dai Fanghua began.
She smiled, looking at Dai Canglan, her voice regaining its usual composure. “Otherwise, I wouldn’t have met my goddaughter, Shishi.”
She deliberately concealed their blood relation, choosing to refer to Lin Shishi as her “goddaughter” to outsiders.
Dai Chunling gently stroked Dai Canglan’s hair, her tone a mix of doting and playful scolding. “She’s just too mischievous, always wanting to tease young girls. Despite having excellent universities in Xinjing, she insisted on running off to Yugang.”
Dai Fanghua chuckled softly. “A daughter grown is beyond a mother’s hold. Let her be. Your temperament is stricter than mine; Canglan has always been wary of you.”
Dai Chunling raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. “Aren’t we sisters equally strong-willed? Sister, you clearly have the upper hand.”
Dai Fanghua shook her head, still smiling, then turned her gaze to Song Qinghuan, beckoning her closer.
Song Qinghuan, composed and elegant, walked to her side and took a seat.
Lin Shishi, too, obediently settled beside Song Qinghuan, her long, flowing hair swaying gently with the movement.
Dai Fanghua meticulously observed Song Qinghuan.
She was tall, clad in a fitted black dress that accentuated her long legs and slender waist. Her long hair was loosely tied back, with a few wisps framing her neck, exuding a casual beauty. The young woman’s lips were rosy, naturally upturned at the corners, giving her a gentle smile even when silent.
Dai Fanghua was immediately smitten with Song Qinghuan.
She had already decided to accept Song Qinghuan as her future ‘son-in-law’.
Even though they were still engaged in some mischievously playful little games…
Dai Fanghua felt these games were harmless.
After all, who among the young hasn’t indulged in a bit of carefree living and… perhaps a momentary lapse?
No matter how wild things got, they would eventually mature with age.
Recalling her own teenage years, when she and her close friends would get into fights, or even have a fleeting romance, Dai Fanghua smiled.
“Thank you, Qinghuan, for looking after Shishi during this time,” Dai Fanghua said, her tone genuinely warm.
Song Qinghuan smiled in response. “It was my pleasure.”
“However,”
Dai Fanghua lowered her voice, “try not to let too many people know about those little games between you two. Shishi is my goddaughter now, and if rumors spread, it could harm her reputation.”
Song Qinghuan nodded earnestly.
Then, she cast a fleeting glance at Lin Shishi, a playful glint in her eyes, as if to say, ‘You must hide your little secret well.’
At Song Qinghuan’s gaze, Lin Shishi’s face flushed, and she lowered her head, her earlobes turning crimson.
Dai Fanghua took in the scene, a faint smile gracing her lips. She addressed Song Qinghuan once more. “Qinghuan, I am very fond of you, and I approve of your relationship with Shishi. If you are willing to become partners, I will bless you. In time, the Dai family will gain another elegant and capable member, and after your graduation, you can come to Xinjing to help us govern this nation.”
Song Qinghuan was somewhat surprised, not expecting the Queen to extend such a direct olive branch.
She rose, her smile impeccable. “Thank you for your generous favor, Your Majesty. I will treat Shishi well.”
Dai Fanghua took her hand, leaning in slightly, and whispered in a voice audible only to the three of them, “Still, be gentle. Try not to leave marks on her skin.”
Lin Shishi’s entire face turned a vivid scarlet, her fingertips trembling slightly.
Song Qinghuan’s smile deepened. “Rest assured, Your Majesty, I know my limits. If Shishi is unwilling, I would never force her. Between us, it has always been consensual.”
Saying this, she winked at Lin Shishi.
Lin Shishi’s face grew even redder.
This somehow felt like…
‘I’ve been sold out by my own master.’
Dai Fanghua smiled contentedly. “You are both good children. Come, let’s eat. I am very happy today.”
Dai Fanghua’s alcohol tolerance was indeed excellent. After several cups, her complexion remained unchanged, save for a faint blush at the corners of her eyes.
Lin Shishi, however, had the constitution of one who collapses after a single drink. After barely half a glass of red wine, the intoxicating warmth surged through her like a tide.
The young woman’s face, from her cheeks to her delicate earlobes, turned the color of a ripe peach, even her slender neck acquiring a faint pink hue.
Her normally clear, innocent eyes were now veiled by a moist mist, their gaze hazy and wandering.
Song Qinghuan observed her closely.
She leaned close to Lin Shishi’s ear. “Don’t drink any more. You’ll truly collapse if you do.”
Lin Shishi stiffened, a flicker of embarrassment in her dazed eyes. She bit her lower lip, nodding quickly, and obediently set down her wine glass.
At that moment, Dai Fanghua shared another drink with Dai Chunling. Suddenly, Dai Fanghua leaned forward slightly, her gaze sweeping between Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi, and lowered her voice. “Speaking of which… you two little rascals, how far have you… progressed now?”
She asked directly, a meaningful smile playing on her lips.
Song Qinghuan was visibly stunned.
She hadn’t expected the Queen to ask such a question so bluntly.
She instinctively glanced at Dai Canglan and Dai Chunling on the other side of the dining table, fearing they might have overheard something.
However, she saw the ‘father and daughter’ also leaning their heads together, their eyes narrowed as they conversed in hushed tones.
Clearly, they were deliberately maintaining a distance from the Queen, allowing Dai Fanghua to share private words with Song Qinghuan.
Back at their end, Song Qinghuan quickly regained her composure in the face of the Queen’s teasing inquiry.
She, too, leaned forward, a hint of a testing smile in her low voice. “Your Majesty, I didn’t realize you were so interested in… topics of this nature?”
Dai Fanghua chuckled softly. “Who hasn’t been young before? Back in my day, I was far more adventurous than you two.”
Song Qinghuan was caught off guard.
Dai Fanghua’s interest only grew. “Tell me secretly, have you… reached that point yet?”
She asked with detailed directness.
Lin Shishi, who had been listening in a daze, was now utterly shocked, her intoxication receding by a good two points.
The young woman’s cheeks, already like fiery clouds, now seemed on the verge of dripping blood.
Song Qinghuan saw Lin Shishi’s expression, one that wished to vanish on the spot, and felt both amusement and tenderness.
She quickly reached out under the table, clasping Lin Shishi’s slightly sweaty hand, giving it a gentle squeeze of reassurance. Simultaneously, she whispered her answer to Dai Fanghua’s question: “Yes… but…”
Dai Fanghua raised an eyebrow, a ‘just as I expected’ smile gracing her face. “There’s truly an opportunity to…”
“Your… Your Majesty…!”
Lin Shishi finally broke, squeezing out a muffled protest filled with embarrassment and pleading from her throat.
Dai Fanghua raised her index finger to her lips, signaling ‘Hush’.
She leaned closer to Song Qinghuan once more. “Remember, this is our little secret, just between the three of us. In the future, if you have any new developments, be sure to report them to me anytime.”
“Understood!”
Song Qinghuan’s eyes suddenly lit up, her lips curving into an uncontrollable, brilliant smile tinged with a hint of triumph. She nodded quickly. “Thank you for your support, Your Majesty!”
Dai Fanghua herself felt that her words just now had been a bit too unrestrained, a stark contrast to her usual public image.
She set down her wine glass and rubbed her temples with her fingertips. “I’m a bit tired today. I’ve been dealing with state affairs all day, and I don’t feel entirely well.”
Dai Fanghua continued, her gaze softening as she looked at Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi. “I’ll head back first. You two can stay and enjoy yourselves here for a couple more days; your rooms have already been arranged at this hotel. As for the Daming Palace… there’s no rush to go there just yet, especially since Shishi’s identity isn’t ready for a formal public announcement.”
Song Qinghuan and Lin Shishi nodded in unison.
