Join the ServerSong Qinghuan spoke sternly, but her hand instinctively reached out to Lin Shishi’s forehead.
Touching it, she felt a burning heat.
Song Qinghuan froze, then quickly leaned down and wrapped Lin Shishi in her arms.
Lin Shishi’s body was warm and soft, her breath rapid, her face flushed with an unnatural red hue, as she mumbled incoherently.
Song Qinghuan’s brow furrowed, her voice softening instantly: “Baby, you have a fever.”
It wasn’t surprising; the temperature in New Capital was significantly lower than in Rain Harbor, and the night’s sudden rain had brought a chill that never ceased. Her delicate frame, drained by Song Qinghuan’s intense passion, could barely withstand it.
Lin Shishi nestled closer in her arms, consciousness fading.
Song Qinghuan immediately grabbed the bedside phone, dialing the front desk.
After two rings, a sweet feminine voice answered: “Hello, how may I assist you?”
Song Qinghuan spoke rapidly: “What’s the nearest hospital? Please arrange a car; my baby is sick.”
“How old is your baby?” the girl asked, pausing.
Song Qinghuan hesitated, then corrected herself: “She’s eighteen.”
“Eighteen?” the girl repeated, then understood, “Oh, your girlfriend. I’ll prepare a car for you. When will you be coming down?”
“In five minutes.”
“Alright.”
Song Qinghuan returned to the suite, where Lin Shishi lay curled in the rumpled bed, her long hair sprawled across the pillow, a few strands clinging to her flushed cheeks. Her breathing was labored, her eyelashes damp, her lips dry yet still tinged with a rosy hue.
Song Qinghuan’s heart pounded, and she quickly wrapped Lin Shishi in a blanket, like a spring roll, then lifted her into her arms.
Lin Shishi was as light as a kitten, stirring slightly, emitting a muffled whimper.
In the hallway, the only sound was their soft footsteps.
Song Qinghuan entered the stairwell, then quickly switched to the elevator.
Inside, there were a few people: two young women in skirts and a family of three. The elevator felt cramped, and Lin Shishi, wrapped in the blanket, was noticeable. The blanket couldn’t fully cover her, revealing a delicate foot, its arch slender, its ankle elegant. Everyone stared, especially the two young women, their eyes lingering on Lin Shishi’s ankle and calf, then on her body’s curves, exchanging knowing glances.
Song Qinghuan felt her face heat up, realizing Lin Shishi was only wearing lingerie. She mentally cursed herself for not dressing her first. But the elevator was descending, so she pulled the blanket higher, trying to cover Lin Shishi’s foot, thinking “At least it’s not all exposed.”
The elevator dinged, and they stepped out. The lobby was bright, and the receptionist was waiting, pointing to the car outside. Song Qinghuan nodded, hugging Lin Shishi tightly as they rushed out. Lin Shishi’s long hair swayed like black silk. Her waist felt soft and warm even through the blanket as it pressed against Song Qinghuan’s arm. In the lobby, a few girls stopped their conversation, watching them. One with a high ponytail smirked, “Looks like they had too much fun?” Another with short hair giggled, “The body in there’s great, look at that foot, it’s glowing.” They exchanged suggestive glances. The ambulance was indeed waiting. Song Qinghuan opened the door, placing Lin Shishi inside. The two female nurses inside paused, staring at the beautiful, long-haired woman wrapped in a blanket. An older nurse smirked. The doctor, a middle-aged woman, took out a thermometer, looking at Lin Shishi. The blanket shifted, revealing a shoulder and collarbone, the black lingerie strap slipping, adding a fragile yet alluring beauty. The doctor placed the thermometer under Lin Shishi’s arm, then removed it, frowning: “Almost 40 degrees, high fever! Quick, to the hospital!” Song Qinghuan bit her lip, relieved they hadn’t delayed. The ambulance sped to the hospital, siren blaring. Inside, the dim light, Lin Shishi opened her eyes slightly, her gaze unfocused, her lips moving softly, as if saying something. Song Qinghuan leaned closer, hearing her whisper, “Cold…” She held Lin Shishi tighter, “Baby, hang in there!” Unable to stop, a tear fell. They reached the hospital quickly. Thanks to Merlin, the hotel had informed the hospital that Lin Shishi was a VIP, so they were taken directly to the emergency room. Song Qinghuan carried Lin Shishi, whom the doctor, a serious but kind-looking woman in her forties, examined. She lifted the blanket, seeing the black lingerie. The doctor hesitated, then said, “Young people should enjoy in moderation.” She turned, returning with a medical coat, “Put this on her, I’m a doctor, and married.” Song Qinghuan, blushing, took the coat, gently covering Lin Shishi. The doctor checked her temperature, listened to her heart and lungs, her movements professional. Lin Shishi shivered in her drowsiness, her lips dry, Song Qinghuan wet them with a cotton swab, her lips still soft and pink. The IV was hung, the needle inserted. Lin Shishi flinched slightly, her eyelashes fluttering. The doctor observed, then sighed: “Fortunately, you came in time. Continuous high fever can be dangerous, and her constitution seems weak, so… you should be more moderate in your… activities.” Song Qinghuan nodded solemnly. After the first bottle of medicine, Lin Shishi’s color improved. The doctor checked her temperature, now 38.5 degrees, and smiled: “She’s more stable. After this bottle, the fever should break.” The doctor left, a faint smile in her eyes. The room was quiet, only the drip of the IV. Song Qinghuan sat by the bed, holding Lin Shishi’s free hand. Her skin was pale, the veins faintly visible. After a while, Lin Shishi coughed, opening her eyes slowly, “Ah, thirsty…” Her voice was soft and hoarse, weak from illness. Song Qinghuan stood, “I’ll get you water.”
