Chapter 90: Unseen Dangers

“Lin Qing, isn’t this place supposed to be deserted?”

Just as they had infiltrated the abandoned slaughterhouse, a few large black dogs discovered them, barking and alerting the guards.

Shao Hong looked at the people surrounding them and roughly estimated there were over twenty.

Despite his confidence in his own abilities, Shao Hong decided to surrender quietly. He dared not resist.

Lin Qing was equally surprised by the unexpected number of guards, realizing that Su Yao’s intelligence was incorrect. These men, with their imposing figures, looked formidable, and there were no escape routes nearby.

For now, they had no choice but to comply and take things one step at a time.

“Who are you?”

Upon discovering the three intruders, one of the guards, frowning, asked as he swung a metal rod through the air, making a “whoosh” sound, warning them not to make any sudden moves.

He then grabbed Shao Hong’s black mask, revealing a young boy with a delicate face. Seeing this, the guard’s frown deepened, wondering what these three kids were doing there.

“Hey, boss, we’re livestreamers exploring this abandoned slaughterhouse for a scary ghost show. Someone sent us a tip, so we came to film it. We didn’t expect to find you guys here. Sorry about that!”

Hearing the guard’s question, Shao Hong quickly came up with a lie, showing his phone as if to prove they were there to film.

His story sounded convincing. With so many weird livestreams out there, the guard didn’t suspect much, assuming they were just lost.

However, he couldn’t let them go easily. They needed to be thoroughly searched to ensure they hadn’t come with ulterior motives.

“This place is privately owned, even though the renovation hasn’t started. We need to search you before you leave to prevent any leakage of business secrets.”

After speaking, the guard signaled to his colleagues to search them carefully, leaving no stone unturned.

Seeing that the guards weren’t suspicious of their identities, just conducting a routine search, Shao Hong breathed a sigh of relief. However, when a guard approached Su Yao with a leering expression, Shao Hong clenched his fists in anger.

Despite wearing a black mask, Su Yao’s attractive figure was impossible to hide, like a glowing firefly in the night sky. Surrounded by men with hungry eyes, she was like a helpless lamb among wolves, at risk of being devoured at any moment.

But Shao Hong knew he couldn’t act recklessly, or things would only get worse.

He had known this place was dangerous, which was why he and Lin Qing had come to scout it out first, to eliminate any potential threats…

However, just as Shao Hong was thinking, Lin Qing suddenly reached out and grabbed the hand of the guard who was about to touch Su Yao’s chest. The guard, reacting quickly, swung his metal rod at Lin Qing’s head, but Lin Qing dodged just in time, pulling Su Yao back with him.

“Searching someone without their consent is against the law. If you continue, I’ll take legal action.”

Lin Qing, holding Su Yao’s arm and shielding her, spoke seriously. Although he knew they would be safe once the search was over, he couldn’t tolerate anyone taking advantage of a woman.

“Damn, you’ve never seen a woman before?”

The guard who had first spoken, seeing Lin Qing protecting Su Yao, glared at the guard who had been searching her. His cold stare made the other guard shiver, unable to speak.

What should have been a quick resolution was now taking too long. Seeing that these three kids weren’t causing much trouble, the guard decided it was best to let them go, to avoid any potential outburst from Chen Sen when he returned.

Lately, Chen Sen had been smiling more, and although he wasn’t as quick to anger, his temper was as bad as ever, if not worse.

“Alright, we won’t search you anymore. Just get out of here, and don’t come back. You’re on your own if you do.”

With that, the guard waved them off, and Shao Hong’s heart, which had been pounding, finally eased.

Now, there was no excitement left, only the desire to leave this trouble-filled place. Initially skeptical about the child trafficking rumor, Shao Hong now believed it was true, seeing the seriousness of the guards.

It was a trafficking den. Once they left, even if he couldn’t report it to the police, Shao Hong would tell his father to send someone to investigate thoroughly and, if necessary, take action.

They needed to uncover the truth hidden here.

“Shao Hong!”

Just as Shao Hong was thinking this, Wang Fanran’s voice suddenly called out, making Shao Hong’s heart skip a beat. He tried to cover his mouth, but it was too late. Wang Fanran, pulling him by the waist, ran off without looking back.

His mask had fallen off, and he had been recognized.

“Dragon Lin, hand these people over to me. I’ll take them to see Dog Brother! They must have a reason for coming here, and we can’t let them go.”

As Dragon Lin was thinking, Wang Fanran’s words made him nod, signaling the others to escort the three of them inside with Wang Fanran.

They were asking for it, and now they would pay the price.

Dragon Lin, not joining them, continued to guard the entrance.

“Lin Qing, should I say you’re brave or just foolish? Do you know where you are, coming here like this? You’re asking for trouble.”

After bringing Lin Qing and the others into the slaughterhouse, Wang Fanran mocked him, holding no goodwill for his former desk mate, eager to see them get a good beating.

Initially, Wang Fanran had panicked, thinking Lin Qing might bring the police, which was why he had hidden here, hoping Chen Sen would help deal with any issues.

But Chen Sen was out of town and wouldn’t be back today.

Just as Wang Fanran was feeling down, he never expected Lin Qing to show up.

During his time with the trafficking gang, he had picked up hints, enough to point to the possibility of trafficking. With Chen Sen’s twisted gang, it wouldn’t surprise him if they were involved.

This was why Wang Fanran had wanted to leave as soon as possible, not wanting to get deeper into this mess.

He was just a regular student, dabbling in this dirty business for personal gain. But his hatred for Lin Qing had clouded his judgment, leading him to take such risks.

Like a greedy man chasing a pearl in shark-infested waters, blinded by desire, he had plunged deeper, only to be exposed by Lin Qing.

It was ironic.

Wang Fanran absently patted his right pocket, then stopped thinking further. The group arrived at a newly decorated office area within the slaughterhouse, a stark contrast to the rundown exterior. The interior was flashy and extravagant, with gold accents glittering under the lights.

In the center of the room, a muscular, bald man sat on a grand sofa, stroking a dog beside him. As he noticed Wang Fanran entering with the others, he glanced at them coldly before speaking slowly.

“Who are these people?”
