“Hmm, you’re quite cute, why hide it?”
After unexpectedly sweeping Lin Qing’s hair aside, Su Yao finally saw the true face she had been so curious about.
It was unlike what she had imagined.
Contrary to his current gloomy demeanor, Lin Qing’s face was remarkably radiant.
By popular aesthetic standards, his appearance could easily be described as handsome.
He was precisely the type of man women admired.
Especially striking were his silent, dark eyes that gazed at her. Beneath long lashes, his pupils seemed to hold the crushed fragments of the night sky’s stars, sparkling incessantly and drawing all attention.
However, Lin Qing’s tightly pressed lips clearly indicated his displeasure.
As Lin Qing raised a hand, attempting to brush away Su Yao’s hand from his hair, she preemptively seized his wrist in mid-air. Then, she drew even closer to him.
Her original plan remained unchanged.
Her kiss was fierce, imbued with a predatory intent.
It was like a savage beast suddenly emerging, its gaze fixed on trembling prey. Drooling with insatiable hunger, its eyes burned with fervent desire.
She yearned to devour Lin Qing completely.
Not even a single bone would remain.
Simultaneously, it carried an irresistible force, leaving him feeling utterly suffocated.
“Breathe.”
At such close proximity, Su Yao noticed the shift in Lin Qing’s expression. As she spoke, she softened her aggressive assault, allowing her touch to become gentle.
It was like a dragonfly skimming the water’s surface.
The overwhelming kiss finally subsided.
At that moment, Su Yao released him, allowing Lin Qing to regain his composure.
Yet, upon regaining his freedom, Lin Qing instinctively recoiled. Despite being confined within the small gondola, there was no actual escape.
Even so, he could not bear to remain close to Su Yao.
The intensely forceful kiss had drained all his strength.
He felt utterly weak.
“While I know you haven’t had much experience with women, Lin Qing, this is also my first time kissing a man. Look, I’ve already mastered it without any instruction, so you should get used to it quickly. It’s only going to get more intense from now on~”
Su Yao wasn’t angered by Lin Qing’s retreat; instead, she spoke with a slight smile.
Her words were delivered with such earnestness that it was impossible to discern any hint of mischief.
This time, she had successfully seen Lin Qing’s face.
There had been no obstructions.
Su Yao felt a profound sense of satisfaction, her mood lifting considerably.
Moreover, Lin Qing’s appearance, resembling a sulking young bride, struck her as rather adorable. This prompted Su Yao not to press further, but instead to grant him a brief reprieve within her control.
Regardless, Lin Qing could never truly escape her grasp.
After hearing Su Yao’s words, Lin Qing felt no desire to respond. Instead, he silently turned his head to gaze out the glass window, just as the Ferris wheel resumed its slow rotation.
Everything was back on track.
Yet, the warm sensation left by Su Yao lingered, refusing to dissipate.
It felt as though it had been branded deep within his heart.
In the moment Su Yao saw his face and offered her praise, Lin Qing felt no aversion. Quite the opposite, in fact…
‘Snap out of it!’
‘It’s not genuine.’
He had a pervasive feeling that, by all accounts, he could no longer remain with Su Yao.
He needed to act before their entanglement deepened further.
Distance was the only correct path.
However, this was not a matter he could decide. Even if he fled to the ends of the earth, Su Yao would undoubtedly find him.
By then, the situation would only be far worse.
Pondering these thoughts, Lin Qing immediately diverted his gaze to the crowd below, seeking to distract himself and avoid reliving the recent encounter.
It wasn’t his first kiss with Su Yao, so why did this one feel so overwhelmingly intense?
‘Could this be the “suspension bridge effect” Liu Hong mentioned?’
‘Perhaps it’s simply because the Ferris wheel is so high, and my mind automatically perceives danger, leading to an accelerated heartbeat…’
As these chaotic thoughts raced through his mind, Lin Qing’s gaze wandered aimlessly. However, when his eyes landed on a particular spot, his body instinctively tensed.
His previously unfocused eyes suddenly sharpened.
Noticing this abrupt change, Su Yao, who had been observing him, cast a puzzled glance out the glass window.
Amidst the bustling crowd, laughter and chatter filled the air, with nothing appearing out of the ordinary.
Su Yao did not directly question him. Instead, she continued to silently observe Lin Qing.
‘What’s the fun in simply asking?’
‘Discovering things slowly is far more intriguing.’
Furthermore, her interest in Lin Qing was not a recent development.
Everything about Lin Qing, to her, was…
…utterly mysterious.
It only made her more eager to unravel each enigma.
‘Creak.’
At this point, the Ferris wheel’s journey concluded, and the gondola returned to the ground.
The moment the gondola door opened, Lin Qing emerged without a word. Ignoring Su Yao, who was beside him, he swiftly headed in a particular direction.
As the surrounding crowds thinned, only a few scattered individuals remained, resting in the amusement park’s landscaped garden.
Lin Qing, however, did not pause. He walked directly toward a father and son.
“Who is he to you?”
Without hesitation, Lin Qing addressed the little boy directly.
The innocent little boy licked his lollipop, gazing at Lin Qing with a puzzled expression. Though unsure who this older brother was, he honestly replied.
“Uncle said he had candy, and told me to…”
Before the little boy could finish his sentence, the man beside him nervously raised a hand and clamped it over the boy’s mouth, reducing his words to muffled sounds.
It seemed the tight grip hurt, as the previously well-behaved boy’s eyes welled up with tears of grievance, and he began to struggle fiercely.
Seeing this, Lin Qing clenched his fist and swung it directly towards the man’s neck.
His strength wasn’t immense; even a blow to the face might not be effective. It was better to strike directly at a vulnerable point.
In fact, this attack proved highly effective.
Struck by Lin Qing’s fist, the man’s breath hitched, and his hand, covering the little boy’s mouth, was forced to release. This allowed Lin Qing to seize the opportunity and pull the child away.
Just moments before, while looking down from the Ferris wheel, Lin Qing had spotted the man with two black skull tattoos on his head, leading the little boy towards a less crowded area.
While it was possible the man was simply the boy’s father, a person with a history of wrongdoing, another scenario also presented itself.
For instance, a child trafficker.
If there was even the slightest possibility, Lin Qing would absolutely not stand idly by.
Recalling his own decade-long imprisonment, Lin Qing’s gaze towards the trafficker turned icy. A surge of anger swelled within him, causing him to instinctively clench his hands.
“Damn you, looking for death, are you? How dare you ruin my business!”
Seeing his wicked deed exposed, the trafficker dropped all pretense. His face, obscured by a black mask, revealed no expression, yet his venomous eyes glared fiercely at Lin Qing.
The sparse crowd around them only emboldened the trafficker’s arrogance.
Swiftly, he pulled a folding knife from his pocket, then pointed its sharp tip directly at Lin Qing.
“Kid, be smart about this. Hand over the child!”
The arrogant words made Lin Qing clench his teeth, tasting the metallic tang of blood spreading in his mouth.
‘Damn trafficker.’
“Lin Qing, let me handle this!”
Just then, Su Yao’s voice suddenly echoed from nearby.
Her tone was light, devoid of fear.
Instead, it carried an eager excitement.
