Lin Qing had originally intended for them to part ways and return home. Yet, the moment he heard Su Yao’s final, supplementary words, he instantly yearned to make a swift escape.
Unfortunately for him, Su Yao had already predicted his reaction. Without hesitation, she directly seized Lin Qing’s hand and forcefully ushered him toward the Ferris wheel waiting area.
“Su Yao, we’re not even in a relationship. We don’t need to ride this, do we?”
Lin Qing watched the waiting area steadily empty, their turn rapidly approaching. Even then, he refused to give up on convincing Su Yao to abandon her idea.
He was already scrambling to keep his distance from Su Yao; falling in love with her was an unthinkable prospect.
‘If the Ferris wheel legend were true…’
Just imagining the consequences of falling for Su Yao, Lin Qing felt as though an unfortunate ending had already been etched in stone.
It was akin to constantly testing the edge of a perilous cliff. One misstep, and he would surely be dragged into the abyss by some malevolent force.
“It’s precisely *because* of that we need to ride the Ferris wheel!”
“When we reach the very top, I’ll pray for you to fall hopelessly in love with me, and we’ll share an unforgettable romance.”
Observing Lin Qing’s reluctance, Su Yao merely offered a mischievous smile.
The words she spoke next successfully rooted Lin Qing to the spot.
Su Yao’s eyes narrowed contentedly, like a kitten sated after a meal. Her mood soared, and she linked both her hands through Lin Qing’s arm.
With Su Yao leaning half her weight against Lin Qing, her docile and well-behaved demeanor captivated the men waiting in line, their gazes fixed on her. Their subsequent looks at Lin Qing were filled with profound envy.
‘To possess such a goddess-tier girl—he must have saved the country in his past life!’
As Lin Qing met the surrounding gazes, he felt no pride from their attention. Instead, Su Yao’s words plunged him into a state of vexation.
‘Could he truly not escape Su Yao?’
‘An unforgettable romance?’
‘If he truly fell in love with Su Yao, it would indeed be unforgettable.’
‘But he couldn’t possibly fall for Su Yao.’
‘Absolutely not!’
Setting aside the potential danger Su Yao represented, her stunning appearance, illustrious family background, and exceptional abilities all declared her unwillingness to lead an ordinary life.
This was completely contrary to Lin Qing’s desire for a peaceful existence.
“You don’t believe it, do you?”
Receiving no response from Lin Qing, Su Yao tilted her head for a quick glance. She immediately averted her gaze, though an inscrutable expression flickered in her eyes.
She wore an air of absolute certainty, as if victory was already hers.
Utterly convinced.
“It’s just a legend,” Lin Qing replied coolly. “It can’t possibly come true.”
In stark contrast to Su Yao’s conviction, Lin Qing’s reply was distinctly cold.
His entire demeanor radiated resistance.
“Then we’ll see,” Su Yao said with a smile. “Time will give us our answer.”
After Su Yao finished speaking with a smile, their wait concluded. Under the guidance of a staff member, the two stepped into a Ferris wheel cabin.
The cabin door locked securely from the outside. As the Ferris wheel began to move, the gondola carrying them slowly ascended.
Lin Qing peered out the glass window, watching as they gradually moved away from the ground. The people below shrank into tiny black dots, their features indistinguishable.
Everything became insignificant.
It was as if life itself had become ephemeral, like a long and intricate dream.
“It seems I’m your first time!”
Now inside the confined cabin, Su Yao shed her pretense, becoming much more casual with Lin Qing.
Just as she was doing now, playfully flirting.
Her words, laced with a playful mockery, carried the suggestive undertones of a seasoned provocateur.
Watching Lin Qing, who was pressed against the glass window like an eager child, his eyes wide and unblinking, Su Yao found his innocent demeanor utterly endearing.
Sometimes, she couldn’t help but feel that Lin Qing had grown up deep within the mountains.
He was vastly different from everyone else.
Yet, she found this difference incredibly appealing.
Su Yao sat on the seat opposite Lin Qing, propping her chin with one hand. The polite, artificial smile had vanished from her face, replaced by a gaze of intense scrutiny.
It was potent and impossible to ignore.
This compelled Lin Qing to stop gazing out the window, pulling him back from his reverie into reality.
He looked at Su Yao, seated across from him, knowing this was no time to lose focus.
“It really is my first time,” he confirmed.
Having experienced the consequences of contradicting Su Yao before, Lin Qing naturally understood what might ensue.
Now, seated within the Ferris wheel cabin, he felt an inexplicable intuition warning him against any rash movements.
The cabin was too small. If anything were to happen, there would be nowhere to escape.
However, Lin Qing’s compliant demeanor did not seem to satisfy Su Yao.
His temporary compromise was merely a fleeting truce.
His stubborn resistance seemed to constantly scratch at Su Yao’s heart, an uncontrollable itch emerging within her.
It made Su Yao want to do something…
…to quell that persistent itch.
Given the cabin’s narrow confines and their face-to-face seating, their legs inevitably brushed against each other, leaving little distance between them.
Su Yao abandoned her previous posture, deliberately leaning forward. She then raised a hand to cup Lin Qing’s chin, drawing so close that their breaths mingled.
“I only told you half of the Ferris wheel legend just now,” she murmured.
Su Yao’s actions carried an undeniable assertiveness, a posture poised for attack. Lin Qing sensed danger rapidly approaching.
However, Su Yao’s sudden words completely shifted the atmosphere.
Lin Qing looked at her, puzzled, unsure of what she meant.
“The legend truly comes to life only when two people kiss each other at the Ferris wheel’s highest point.”
As Su Yao spoke, a smile played on her lips, yet her eyes remained fixed intensely on Lin Qing.
They were like a venomous snake, or perhaps an inescapable set of shackles.
There was no escape.
Her thumb gently caressed Lin Qing’s lips. In the confined space, he had nowhere to retreat, forced to passively endure Su Yao’s brazen actions.
As the Ferris wheel steadily ascended, it would briefly pause for five minutes upon reaching its zenith.
This allowed passengers in the cabins a clearer, unobstructed view of the scenery below.
Free from any other concerns.
It was precisely at this moment, just after Su Yao finished speaking, that the Ferris wheel slowly ceased its rotation. Su Yao stopped caressing Lin Qing’s lips, instead pressing her body even closer to him.
Her gaze lowered slightly, her full red lips curving upwards, appearing as delectable as ripe, crimson cherries. They seemed to invite a bite, to taste if they were as sweet as imagined.
Such a captivating and beautiful Su Yao now assertively lifted Lin Qing’s face. Her posture brooked no refusal, clearly aiming to secure his surrender.
Alas, just as she was about to succeed, Lin Qing deliberately turned his head, evading Su Yao’s kiss.
‘He refused to become Su Yao’s captive.’
‘To lose his freedom.’
‘To become unlike himself.’
However, after Lin Qing dodged her lips, receiving a kiss only on his cheek, Su Yao suddenly burst into laughter. She then looked up at Lin Qing, who was still turned away, giving him no chance to escape.
‘Only she held the power to utter the word “stop.”‘
‘Lin Qing had no such right.’
‘Furthermore, Lin Qing’s audacity demanded a punishment.’
With these thoughts in mind, Su Yao swiftly raised her hand and seized Lin Qing’s hair. Before he could react, she yanked it upwards, revealing Lin Qing’s true face.
