Join the ServerUntil recently, Lin Qing only knew Liu Ying approached him with ulterior motives, and later discovered they were classmates. Beyond that, his understanding of her was limited. However, Liu Ying’s sudden, self-incriminating remarks had now unveiled more.
Liu Ying had witnessed his interactions with Su Yao. Ordinarily, this would be a normal occurrence. After all, there were no secrets under the sun, and Su Yao herself seemed unconcerned by the risk of exposure, openly displaying affection and initiating frequent physical contact with him.
Yet, the unusual aspect was the location: the red-light district. Liu Ying was merely a student; what business did she have frequenting such a place? Was she, like them, scavenging for refuse?
Lin Qing observed Liu Ying’s expression stiffen instantly at the mention of ‘red-light district.’ Clearly, many secrets lay hidden beneath her facade, and her current forced composure only confirmed his suspicions.
“A friend merely saw it,” Liu Ying began, “Because Su Yao is quite well-known. When my friend told me, I realized from their description that you two had some rather strange interactions, which is why I wanted to ask you about it.”
In truth, Liu Ying had panicked the moment Lin Qing spoke. Her excitement had caused her to speak without thinking, but now, with reason returning, she immediately recognized her misstep.
No matter how intensely she envied Su Yao, she couldn’t utter such things to Lin Qing! It would expose her prematurely!
Fortunately, she hadn’t said anything more; there was still a chance to salvage the situation. All she needed was for Lin Qing to agree to be her friend. Opportunities would abound later.
With these thoughts, Liu Ying gazed at Lin Qing, her face alight with expectation, awaiting his nod of agreement. They would then, she imagined, compose a beautiful future together.
“It wasn’t strange contact,” Lin Qing stated. Contrary to Liu Ying’s expectations of an affirmative nod, he simply uttered these words, offering a serious explanation.
This left Liu Ying momentarily stunned, bewildered by Lin Qing’s words.
“Su Yao and I are in a relationship,” he clarified, “So our interactions are perfectly normal, not the ‘strange contact’ your friend mentioned. I apologize, but I won’t be friends with you, because I simply don’t wish to be.”
Lin Qing had initially intended to gather information through proactive engagement. However, Liu Ying’s repeated provocations had left him thoroughly displeased.
This forced Lin Qing to confront reality: he possessed no talent for espionage. He simply couldn’t tolerate it.
As for why he had suddenly declared his relationship with Su Yao… aside from the fact that Liu Ying’s ‘friend’ was undoubtedly herself, her expression of disdain when mentioning Su Yao had been particularly grating. She had looked as if Su Yao were some promiscuous woman who toyed with men, utterly lacking self-respect.
Yet, even if Su Yao was indeed a ‘bad woman,’ she was nothing like Liu Ying portrayed her to be.
No matter how much Liu Hong might offer his heart, Su Yao wouldn’t even spare him a glance.
Her sole fascination lay with killing.
Aside from her fondness for physical contact with Lin Qing, Su Yao typically maintained a careful distance from everyone else.
She was neither overly intimate nor overtly aloof.
She wore a perfectly crafted mask.
Therefore, Lin Qing could not tolerate Liu Ying’s disparaging remarks about Su Yao and chose to retaliate.
Declaring their romantic relationship at this moment meant that any intimate gestures Su Yao made towards him would now be considered entirely normal.
Furthermore, this was a matter strictly between the two of them, leaving no room for an outsider like Liu Ying to interfere.
“Impossible! You’re lying! How could you two be together? I was the first one to pay attention to you! Why would you be with Su Yao?”
Upon hearing Lin Qing’s words, Liu Ying’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Unable to control her voice, she clutched her head with both hands, letting out a shriek that quickly drew a crowd of onlookers.
Even more curious individuals hurried closer, eager to partake in the drama.
Lin Qing, however, remained rooted to his spot, his gaze cold as he watched Liu Ying. He had no intention of helping her; instead, he simply turned and walked away.
The sudden farce, he decided, had gone on long enough.
Seeing this, the wide-eyed Liu Ying ceased her screaming. She then glared venomously at Lin Qing’s retreating back, her voice dripping with malice.
“Lin Qing, you will regret this! I swear it!”
After uttering her threat, Liu Ying quickly covered her face with her hand and departed, denying the curious onlookers any further spectacle. The ‘melon-eaters’ couldn’t help but shake their heads and sigh, surprised that the juicy gossip had ended so abruptly.
They had only just turned their heads, and the fresh ‘melon’ was already gone.
As for Lin Qing, who had left early, he no longer dwelled on the strange woman that was Liu Ying. Instead, he lowered his gaze to his phone screen and tapped open his messaging application.
He stared at Su Yao’s account, a wave of hesitation washing over him.
Ultimately, he tapped into the chat and sent a message.
[Lin Qing]: I just ran into Liu Ying.
Lin Qing wasn’t trying to constantly report his whereabouts; he was merely using this as an excuse to contact Su Yao.
Su Yao had been somewhat unusual that afternoon, frequently spacing out during class.
He wondered what occupied her thoughts.
After school that day, she had cited the need to address a ‘coffee theme’ request, leaving without her usual reluctance to part from Lin Qing. She had simply walked away.
When Lin Qing had left, her expression was serious, as if something significant had occurred.
This left Lin Qing feeling uneasy, prompting his desire to confirm Su Yao’s state.
He needed to know if she was her usual self.
[Eat You]: That woman has a lot of nerve, daring to stand before you with her true identity. Did you expose her?
Lin Qing was eager to hear Su Yao’s reply, to understand what exactly had transpired.
Lin Qing’s thoughts raced, and Su Yao’s reply came swiftly.
Seeing this, Lin Qing immediately began typing, using the topic to continue their conversation.
Observing no abnormality from Su Yao, he concluded that it must have been his own overthinking.
[Lin Qing]: No, because I didn’t think it was the right time. But Liu Ying, she’s a bit strange.
[Eat You]: Strange?
[Lin Qing]: Before, I suspected her of approaching me with ulterior motives. But today, she displayed a strong desire to control me, and she also claimed to have seen you and me together.
[Eat You]: Could she be in love with you?
As Lin Qing chatted with Su Yao, he arrived back at his apartment complex, his steps still unhurried. However, after reading Su Yao’s last message, his pace faltered.
After a moment of serious thought, Lin Qing composed a reply.
[Lin Qing]: I don’t believe she likes me. Although she acts as if I’m the only one for her, there’s a wild glint in her eyes, almost as if she’s looking through me at someone else.
Despite his profound aversion to Liu Ying, Lin Qing had not ceased observing her. The subtle shifts in her facial expressions offered a rough glimpse into her inner thoughts.
Considering Liu Ying’s earlier remarks about ‘the same kind of people,’ Lin Qing surmised that Liu Ying was likely referring to herself.
The exact reason remained unknown, but it indicated a pathological shift in her thinking.
Moreover, during Liu Ying’s emotional outburst, Lin Qing had specifically glanced at the top of her head.
He had observed that among the three white skulls above her head, only the first one displayed an angry expression. The other two white skulls remained perfectly still, devoid of any emotional change.
This led to the preliminary conclusion that the white skulls Liu Ying had acquired through special means differed from the ‘original’ ones.
As for other details, further observation would be necessary to reach a definitive conclusion.
[Eat You]: She sounds like a crazy woman, Lin Qing, you need to be careful! I’m currently entertaining a special guest, which will take some time, so I’ll have to stop chatting for now.
Su Yao seemed quite busy, but who could this ‘special guest’ be?
Lin Qing gazed at his phone screen, letting out an involuntary sigh. He then put his phone away, and upon stepping through his front door, immediately went to his bedroom to retrieve a new notebook.
He promptly recorded his discoveries regarding the skulls in the notebook.

The following day at school, Liu Ying was absent, having requested sick leave.
This development was entirely expected, and Lin Qing paid it no mind.
Su Yao, too, had returned to her normal state, resuming her usual relaxed demeanor. It seemed she had resolved matters with her ‘special guest’ from the previous day.
And so, with no other significant events occurring, time swiftly advanced to Saturday morning.
Having accepted Liu Hong’s request, Lin Qing was to accompany Liu Hong and Xiao Fish that day for a peculiar outing of shopping and a movie.
Despite his strong dislike for Liu Ying, Lin Qing had no intention of breaking a promise he’d already made. After tidying himself up, he prepared to leave.
Having decisively rejected Liu Ying’s attempts at friendship, he presumed that Liu Ying at school would no longer humiliate herself by approaching him.
However, Xiao Fish outside of school, who he suspected was Liu Ying, could very well intensify her efforts.
With Liu Hong, who remained oblivious, serving as her unwitting springboard, Liu Ying—disguised as Xiao Fish—would likely become even more audacious.
Just thinking about it, Lin Qing could already envision a potentially dreadful progression of events.
This made Lin Qing sigh involuntarily. He wished he could simply vanish on the spot, or at least completely lose all memory of Liu Ying, thereby avoiding any further contact with her.
It was truly repulsive!
Lost in these thoughts, Lin Qing stepped out of the subway station. Now in the bustling city center, he listened to the clamor around him and looked up at a nearby street sign for directions.
Liu Hong had arranged to meet him on the first floor of the Comet Shopping Mall. The plan was for the three of them to eat on the third floor, then catch a movie on the fourth, which seemed quite convenient.
The Comet Shopping Mall in Lotus City was a grand edifice, teeming with people. Lin Qing merely glanced at the directory before heading directly towards the mall’s entrance.
However, just as Lin Qing reached the mall’s main entrance, a hand suddenly seized him from behind.
His instinctive attempt to dodge proved futile, prompting him to turn his head in confusion.
There stood Su Yao, dressed in a white t-shirt and a short skirt. One hand held his, while the other waved slightly in front of her chest. A smile played on her lips as she winked at him.
Lin Qing was rather surprised to encounter Su Yao here. Did she have something to do in this area?
Or was she here to monitor him and Liu Ying?
If that were the case, it was unnecessary; Lin Qing didn’t want Su Yao to waste her time.
He felt nothing but disgust towards Liu Ying now, unwilling to spend even a moment with her.
“What are you doing here?”
“Nothing much, just planning to kidnap you.”
However, the turn of events was quite unexpected. Lin Qing’s face was filled with question marks as he listened to Su Yao.
Kidnap him?
Before Lin Qing could fully process the situation, Su Yao swiftly took a few steps forward, wrapping her arm around one of his, effectively holding him captive.
“Now, you have two choices,” Su Yao declared, “One is to come with me, and the other is also to come with me!”
Su Yao spoke with a serious expression, her cheek pressed against Lin Qing’s arm. Her gaze, as she looked up, held a hint of cunning, and a brilliant smile curved her lips.
