Ultimately, Lin Qing relented.
Upon returning home, Lin Qing sat awkwardly on the sofa, with Su Yao, who had entered the house with him, standing by his side. Her face was filled with curiosity as she observed the room’s decor, finding Lin Qing’s living space incredibly intriguing. Especially the dozen clocks hanging on the walls, which caught her attention with their unusual significance.
The closer she got to Lin Qing, the more mysterious he seemed. How many secrets was he hiding? It was all so intriguing.
“Would you like something to drink?”
“Mineral water is fine.”
Feeling the silence was too heavy, Lin Qing broke the ice with a question. Upon hearing Su Yao’s response, he immediately stood up from the sofa and quickly walked to the refrigerator. He opened one of the doors, but hesitated before taking out the mineral water.
Although Lin Qing had mentally prepared himself when he agreed to bring Su Yao home, the reality was quite different. Having someone else in the house felt strange. He used the excuse of getting water to give himself a moment to calm down.
Originally, Lin Qing didn’t know why Su Yao wanted to come home with him, but after learning that Wang Fanran had been spotted in the neighborhood, everything fell into place. Su Yao had known about Wang Fanran’s whereabouts all along, and the blurred photo of Wang Fanran was likely taken by her. As for her motives…
It was all out of curiosity and anticipation for what would happen next. This was the only reason Lin Qing could think of, and it was the most challenging aspect to deal with. Now, he regretted agreeing to help Su Yao capture Wang Fanran and wanted to back out. However, knowing that Su Yao would find a way to make him pay, Lin Qing decided not to dwell on it.
But there was one thing he could try. Since Su Yao’s purpose in coming over had been achieved, it was time for her to leave. Despite Lin Qing not having any ill intentions toward Su Yao, being alone with her in the house was awkward. The atmosphere was thick with embarrassment and discomfort, urging Lin Qing to send Su Yao away.
With this in mind, Lin Qing didn’t linger by the refrigerator. He grabbed a cold bottle of mineral water and returned to the living room. “We don’t need to rush into capturing Wang Fanran,” he thought. “Let’s get Su Yao to leave first.”
“Lin Qing, I just noticed my stocking is torn. Do you mind if I take it off?”
However, Lin Qing’s troubles didn’t end there. In fact, they were just beginning. As Su Yao spoke, she removed her shoes and began to pull down her black stockings, her already fair skin looking even paler against the dark fabric. It was like peeling open a bamboo shoot, revealing the sweet, white flesh inside. It stirred a restless heart to beat faster, making it hard to calm down.
When she noticed Lin Qing’s gaze, Su Yao looked down, hiding a smile. Her dark eyes sparkled, and she slowed her movements. Her head motion caused her long hair to sway forward, black strands falling on her white legs, swaying back and forth. Meanwhile, the black stockings had reached her calves, and with each movement, her school uniform skirt rode up, revealing a black lace pattern…
“Su Yao, you can go to the room to change.”
Lin Qing couldn’t bear to watch any longer. After placing the mineral water on the coffee table, he quickly took off his own track jacket and draped it over Su Yao’s legs, covering the intimate scene. He also hid his rapidly beating heart.
“You’re so naughty, inviting me to your room?”
At that moment, Su Yao looked up, her arms suddenly wrapping around Lin Qing’s neck, pulling him closer with a gentle tug. Their faces were mere inches apart, their breaths mingling, and the temperature between them rose. Su Yao’s black eyes were like deep pools, and with a playful smile, she clearly showed that she was a woman who couldn’t be controlled, always teasing others’ hearts without taking responsibility.
“There’s an empty room over there.”
To Su Yao’s underlying meaning, Lin Qing acted oblivious, trying to compose himself as he pointed to the adjacent empty room. Continuing to stay with Su Yao would likely shorten his lifespan. Before, when he didn’t care about Su Yao, even if she stood naked in front of him, he wouldn’t have given it much thought. He would simply look away.
But now, things were different. Lin Qing admitted that he had a certain fondness for Su Yao, a natural attraction between the sexes. But it was just a passing fancy. Between them, there was always an invisible line, constantly reminding Lin Qing to be careful not to cross it. Su Yao was beautiful, but she was also dangerous. She was like a vibrant poisonous snake, the more colorful it was, the more potent its venom.
Now, he was tightly wrapped in her coils, and there was no need to turn his head, exposing his weakness to her bite.
“I was just joking.”
Su Yao didn’t mind Lin Qing’s stiff response. As she spoke, she used a blue butterfly hair clip, lifting Lin Qing’s hair and securing it behind one ear. “This looks much better. In the future, when it’s just you and me, keep your face uncovered like this!”
After Su Yao finished arranging Lin Qing’s hair, she looked at his slightly pale face, making his black eyes seem even darker and more brilliant. When he looked at her, she couldn’t be ignored. The last time at the amusement park, she had only caught a brief glimpse of Lin Qing’s face. Now, after a closer look, Su Yao realized that Lin Qing was indeed handsome. His oval face and soft, slightly androgynous features were not effeminate. He was cute amidst his good looks. Just looking at him was pleasing to the eye. It was an unexpected delight. Originally, Su Yao had thought Lin Qing was ugly, which was why he hid his face. Looking at Lin Qing’s face now, Su Yao nodded in satisfaction, which made Lin Qing feel a mix of amusement and exasperation. He didn’t resist because he didn’t want to provoke Su Yao’s competitive spirit, fearing that things would escalate. Besides, Su Yao had already seen his face once, so revealing it now wasn’t a big deal. He remembered Su Yao saying that he wasn’t ugly. But after revealing his face, Su Yao’s passionate gaze became even more intense, almost devouring him. Lin Qing gently removed Su Yao’s arm from around his neck and sat down next to her, his expression serious as he spoke. “What’s your plan for capturing Wang Fanran?”
Although there was a hint of distraction in his words, the matter was crucial.
