Having just returned to the vicinity of home, a wave of relief washed over me upon seeing that my sister was unharmed.
Peeking from behind a nearby wall, I observed the three figures perched in the tree, a premonition of trouble stirring within me.
Only a day prior, I might have considered this situation rather thorny.
But now…
With my spatial ability, two newly awakened powers, and significantly enhanced physical strength, dealing with these petty ruffians would be nothing short of effortless.
Having swiftly pieced together the sequence of events, I emerged from the shadows, stepping boldly into the open.
“Brother, you’re back! Hehehe, look at these stupid guys… Wait, Brother, run quickly! There are so many zombies at our doorstep!”
My sister’s booming voice, echoing in my ears, made me shake my head involuntarily.
This girl still needed intensive emergency training to understand what could and could not be done in the apocalypse.
“Oh, look, someone not afraid of death has truly delivered themselves to us. Zombie brothers, bite him!”
“Right, right, hurry and bite him, don’t scratch my shoes anymore.”
“Ahhh! My pants are being pulled off!”
The three individuals in the tree, temporarily out of danger, actually had the nerve to make sarcastic remarks.
I looked up at them, deciding to change my plan.
Originally, I had intended to kill all the zombies blocking the entrance and then teach those three a lesson.
However, after hearing their words, I realized I no longer wished to do so.
“Sister, open the window and step back a few paces.”
“Ah! Brother, what are you going to do? Don’t… Okay, I’ll do it right away.”
I called out loudly to my sister, and when she replied with a worried expression, I offered her a reassuring smile. At the same time, I nodded, indicating that I had other plans for what came next.
Seeing this, my sister said no more.
She fully opened the half-ajar window and retreated to another windowpane.
Through the glass, her wide eyes watched me, unsure of what I was about to do.
“Hehehe, buddy, don’t be silly. You’re telling your sister to open the window; are you planning to just spring up from the ground?”
“Exactly, stop dreaming! If we could jump over, would the three of us be suffering up here in this tree?”
“Quickly, help us lure the zombies away. Maybe you can be a hero before you die or something.”
While the three on the tree chattered incessantly, my gaze remained fixed elsewhere. I slowly continued walking towards the front door of my house.
Because my movements were unhurried and I maintained a certain distance from the zombies, the dozen or so undead creatures remained oblivious to my presence.
Once I was sufficiently close, I looked up at the distance between myself and the second-floor window, mentally calculating whether my impromptu idea was feasible and if anything could go wrong.
The answer, naturally, was yes.
“Hey, hey, hey, don’t just stand there without speaking! Even if you’re just looking, you can’t get up…”
Just to be safe, I quickly ran a few steps forward, then bent my knees, instantly leaping from the ground.
For a moment, I seemed to defy Earth’s gravity, soaring through the air like a bird spreading its wings.
But the next instant, gravity reclaimed my body, and my mid-air trajectory began to arc downwards.
Simply jumping from the ground to the second floor was too far, making it highly improbable. Thus, as I reached the peak of my leap and was about to land on the adjacent tree, I delivered a sharp kick to the head of the most garrulous person, using the momentum to propel myself towards the window.
I was still a step short, but fortunately, my hand had already grasped the windowsill.
“My goodness, Brother, you’re not human anymore! That terrifying jumping power!!!”
“Haha, it’s alright.”
Under my sister’s dumbfounded gaze, I exerted a gentle force with one hand, and my body effortlessly slipped through the window.
“Big Brother, Big Brother! Please save us!”
“Awesome, Big Brother! I’ll follow you from now on!”
“I’m going to fall, please save me.”
After I successfully entered the room, the considerable commotion from my running start and jump agitated the zombies. They began attacking the three still clinging to the tree with even greater ferocity.
The trio was terrified, tears and snot streaming down their faces as they frantically begged me for help.
Hearing their cries, I leaned my upper body out the window.
“Good luck to you.”
Without saying anything more, that single, simple sentence stripped the three in the tree of all hope.
I wasn’t about to waste any more time on them. After speaking, I immediately closed the window.
Turning to my sister, I felt we both needed to have a conversation.
