Chapter 80: The Revelation of Rebirth and Heavenly Treasures

I hadn’t expected that by simply saving a few women, my sister and I would stumble upon such astonishing information from their lips.

It was only through my rebirth that I learned of the existence of Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders, yet now, others were speaking of them so casually.

Could it be that someone else, like me, had also been reborn and returned?

And now, a group had arrived, accurately uttering the words ‘Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders,’ leaving me utterly stunned.

This was far too incredible to be mere coincidence. Even if I tried to delude myself, to dismiss it all as chance, I knew I couldn’t succeed.

There was definitely something fishy going on!

“We had no other choice at the time,” one woman explained, her voice trembling. “We had to sneak out with him. But just as we were leaving, the guards spotted us.”

“And Little Ming’s mother, to cover our escape, jumped from the vehicle and was captured by that group. Now, her fate is unknown.”

“It’s too late now; there’s nothing more to be done,” Bai Xia stated, her tone firm. “My brother cannot risk his life to save that woman for you. This is the apocalypse; you must learn to take care of yourselves.”

After hearing the woman’s plea, Bai Xia could only sigh helplessly. She shook her head, informing them that neither she nor her brother could offer any assistance.

From the words Bai Xia had uttered in her fright when the girl attempted suicide moments ago, it was clear that her refusal stemmed from a deep-seated desire to prevent me from taking any risks that might cost me my life.

Listening to my sister, the smile on my lips never faded.

It felt truly wonderful to be cared for! Before my rebirth into the apocalypse, I had spent ten years struggling in that desolate world, and such pure concern was something I hadn’t heard in a very long time.

Knowing that my sister was being deliberately harsh to protect me, I understood that she must be feeling terrible inside.

So, I took a few steps forward, reached out, and grasped her hand. Then, I slowly addressed the women.

“I can help you, but you must tell me everything you know about the botanical garden and that group in detail.”

“No, Brother, it’s too dangerous! You…”

“It’s fine; I know my limits.”

As Bai Xia tried to stop me, I gently squeezed her hand, signaling for her to remain silent for now.

Initially, I hadn’t intended to help them. After all, we were merely strangers whose paths had crossed, and if everyone sought my help, I would surely be exhausted to death.

However, hearing the woman mention the Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders within the botanical garden, along with the mysterious group, had thoroughly piqued my interest.

I wasn’t particularly concerned about the Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders themselves anymore.

My main desire was to investigate the area, to discover who exactly was capable of locating where such treasures resided.

And, more importantly, to ascertain whether they, like me, were also reborn individuals!

“I’ll tell you everything I know! I only beg you to save my mother!”

As soon as the words left my mouth, the girl, who had been crying incessantly, abruptly ceased. She lifted her head, her red-rimmed eyes fixed on me, filled with stubborn resolve.

“The mutation in the botanical garden occurred at the same time humans began turning into zombies. For some unknown reason, certain plants in the garden transformed into monsters, devouring every human and zombie that dared to enter.”

Wang Lili recounted, her expression serious, as she relayed everything she knew to the siblings Bai Han and Bai Xia. Her hope of saving her mother now rested entirely on the person before her.

“Is that terrifying flower a particularly powerful mutated plant?”

“Yes, because I grew up in a house right next to the botanical garden, I’m very familiar with it. That terrifying flower was originally an imported carnivorous plant. But after the zombie virus outbreak, it suddenly grew to an enormous size. Now, it’s the most terrifying existence in the entire botanical garden.”

“Is there anything special about the carnivorous plant? Is its immense size truly what makes you so afraid?”

“This carnivorous plant not only grew enormous but also developed a special ability to induce mental confusion, causing people to walk directly into its maw… However, after the zombie virus outbreak, we only saw the giant, terrifying carnivorous plant a few times on the outskirts of the botanical garden. Then, once that group arrived, it never appeared again.”

“I have a good understanding of the botanical garden now. Tell me more about that group.”

As Bai Han listened to Wang Lili, his hands clasped together, his index finger occasionally tapping the back of his hand, all while his mind processed the information.

However, aside from the carnivorous plant in the botanical garden, Bai Han didn’t show much interest in anything else.

Or rather… he was far more intrigued by the mysterious group that knew of the ‘Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders.’

“That group… they arrived in our community on the fourth day of the zombie virus infection! They simply drove us out of our houses and gathered us into a single bungalow for unified management. At the time… because I was somewhat favored by their leader, I learned their purpose for coming: there were Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders buried in the botanical garden! They supposedly just needed to wait for them to mature before taking them. But…”

“Did the unexpected appearance of that carnivorous plant disrupt their plans?”

“Yes, it did! So, they needed us as bait to lure the carnivorous plant out of the botanical garden, eliminate this threat, and then retrieve the Heavenly Treasures and Earthly Wonders.”

As Wang Lili spoke, a flicker of hesitation crossed her face. Then, as if making a sudden decision, she spoke again.

“Although I know… my request is too difficult, I still hope you can help me save my mother. If I need to offer my body…”

“Since I’ve already promised, I will absolutely take you to save your mother. You don’t need to overthink things now. Go eat something with the others. I’m going to find my sister.”

While Wang Lili and Bai Han discussed the botanical garden and the mysterious group, Bai Xia, feeling her abilities were still insufficient, used the time to take her katana and practice against zombies in the surrounding area.

The other rescued women, meanwhile, ravenously devoured the food from Bai Han’s backpack, alleviating the burning pain of hunger in their stomachs.

During their captivity and abuse, they hadn’t eaten a single bite. Every day, besides enduring endless torment and humiliation, only an astonishing will to survive compelled them to keep living.

Therefore, upon witnessing Bai Han single-handedly resolve the massive zombie orb, Wang Lili’s heart ignited with hope, prompting her to plead with Bai Han and Bai Xia to save her mother.

However, when Bai Xia refused Wang Lili, she momentarily felt that living was pointless, which led to her impulse to commit suicide with a blade.

Fortunately, Bai Han ultimately agreed to save her mother.

He truly was a good person.

Thinking this, Wang Lili looked at Bai Han’s retreating back, her eyes filled with gratitude. Unbeknownst to her, a deep sense of adoration and unspoken affection was hidden in the deepest recesses of her heart.
