Chapter 70: The Allure of the Heavenly Treasure

“Alright, everything’s resolved now. It’s time to part ways.”

“Brother Bai, I’ll miss you!”

“Brother Bai, just you wait! Once we’re stronger, we’ll come find you.”

“W-w-w! Brother Bai, I don’t want to leave you!”

Having dealt with Brother Li, I had initially planned to return home with my sister. However, encountering three Level 2 Enhanced Zombies along the way immediately made me change my mind.

The appearance of Level 2 zombies on the very first day of the apocalypse was utterly illogical!

If there was any plausible explanation, it had to be the emergence of a Heavenly Treasure in H City.

Heavenly Treasures, as their name implied, were born from the embrace of nature. After the apocalypse descended, for reasons unknown, they had all gradually begun to surface.

Finding a single Heavenly Treasure could undoubtedly grant an instant upgrade.

However, Heavenly Treasures also had their own hierarchy of quality, categorized into Elementary, Intermediate, and Superior grades.

Even an Elementary grade Heavenly Treasure was already incredibly difficult to locate, let alone those of higher quality.

If I hadn’t known about them, it would have been fine. But with a Heavenly Treasure practically delivered to my doorstep, it would be foolish not to seize the opportunity!

While the search might consume some time, my sister and I could also use the process to upgrade ourselves and enhance our strength.

“Brother Bai, please wait!”

“Oh? Is there something else?”

Just as I was about to depart, having finalized my new plan, Li Fenghua suddenly spoke, halting my steps.

This unexpected interruption piqued my curiosity, prompting me to pause and listen to what he had to say.

“When I returned this afternoon, I noticed a strange patch of land. It was constantly emitting a red glow, but it was blocked by a white barrier. Outside the barrier, many zombies were gathered, yet they didn’t even chase me when I walked past!”

“Where is this place?”

“It’s near the factory. I can lead you there to take a look.”

Upon hearing Li Fenghua’s words, a surge of joy brightened my face.

I had just been contemplating searching for the Heavenly Treasure that must have appeared in H City, and now, unexpectedly, it seemed to be presenting itself.

Any location where a Heavenly Treasure emerged invariably displayed some extraordinary signs.

Based on Li Fenghua’s description, that area radiating a red glow undoubtedly harbored something significant!

I was already a Level 2 ability user, not to mention possessing a Level 6 spatial ability. Unless I encountered a Level 7 zombie, I was fully capable of handling any unforeseen circumstances.

Today marked only the first day of the zombie virus outbreak; a Level 7 zombie absolutely could not have appeared yet.

As soon as I finished speaking, Li Fenghua respectfully nodded at me, clearly acknowledging the hierarchical relationship between us.

I was quite pleased with Li Fenghua’s discerning attitude.

From my knowledge of Li Fenghua before my rebirth, he was notoriously untamed, refusing to be bound by any powerful individual. If angered, he would directly cut off all firearms supply.

In the apocalypse, ability users were a minority; most were still ordinary people. Firearms were a fundamental defensive measure used by bases to resist zombies.

If Li Fenghua were to cut off a base’s firearms supply, that base would essentially be doomed.

That was why I had repeatedly tested Li Fenghua earlier, unsure if I could bring him under my command.

Between having Li Fenghua owe me a favor and recruiting him as a subordinate, the latter was undoubtedly the more suitable choice.

Though Li Fenghua had yet to fully develop, my rebirth granted me knowledge of his immense potential.

Fortunately, the outcome was excellent; I successfully brought Li Fenghua under my command.

However, I had no intention of interfering with his future development. At most, I would offer a few pointers before I eventually left.

I was well aware of the story of ‘pulling up seedlings to help them grow.’

The division of labor was clear: Li Fenghua would lead me to the peculiar place with the red glow, while Big Gold Tooth and the others would remain behind to handle the aftermath.

As for my sister, Bai Xia, she would naturally accompany me.

Staying by my side was safer than going anywhere else.

We traveled in silence, and under Li Fenghua’s guidance, we swiftly arrived at the site of the peculiar red glow.

The location of the red glow was merely an ordinary field. However, because a certain spot continuously emitted a red light, a semicircular white barrier had manifested, preventing the glow from spreading outwards.

If there was a Heavenly Treasure, it must be buried where the red light was most intense.

I observed the red-glowing area and confirmed that the situation was precisely as Li Fenghua had described. In fact, it was even more severe than I had imagined.

Li Fenghua had only glanced at it roughly at first; he didn’t know how to differentiate zombie levels. But I did.

So, upon seeing the multitude of zombies surrounding the red glow, with some even having three black bulges on their heads, I couldn’t help but be greatly astonished.

Level 3 zombies had appeared in less than a day!

The grade of this Heavenly Treasure was likely not Elementary; it had to be of a higher caliber.

As I observed the zombies around the red glow, in addition to several Level 3 zombies, I also discovered numerous [Intelligent Zombies] and [Enhanced Zombies], all of considerable power.

Even other varieties of special zombies were present among them.

However, their entire attention was currently drawn to the red glow. Despite our appearance as three living individuals, they remained completely motionless.

This only solidified my conviction that the source of the red glow absolutely concealed a Heavenly Treasure!

Such was their craving for energy that the zombies could even resist the allure of fresh blood and flesh.

“Brother Bai, this is it! It’s even more terrifying now than when I saw it before! There weren’t this many zombies initially, and their appearance has also become very strange.”

“Yes, I know.”

While I responded to Li Fenghua, my eyes remained fixed on the horde of zombies, my mind ceaselessly devising a strategy to handle them.

I was only Level 2, and my newly awakened ice and fire abilities would certainly not be enough to kill all these zombies.

Therefore, I still needed to rely on my Level 6 spatial ability.

With only one viable option, I decided to employ my spatial ability to eliminate the zombies surrounding the red glow.

“Sister, get ready. After I launch my attack, you use this knife to finish off any zombies that aren’t dead.”

“Okay, I understand!”

“Remember to be careful and stay safe. Li Fenghua, you wait here!”

Having made my decision, I drew the long blade from my waist and handed it to my sister. After giving her some instructions, I couldn’t help but nod with satisfaction, seeing the determined expression on her face.

My sister’s current performance had already exceeded my expectations.

Her present calm and composed demeanor was a complete contrast to the terror she displayed when she first witnessed zombies devouring people.

With all instructions delivered, I gazed at the massive horde of zombies before me, an excited smile spreading across my face.

In my eyes, every single one of these zombies was now a glittering crystal core.
