Gazing at the three figures perched in the tree outside the window, a faint smile played on my lips. I then glanced around, searching for a suitable object to put my plan into motion.
My gaze swept across the room. When my eyes landed on an alarm clock resting on the table, a surge of delight filled me.
Finally, I had found the perfect item!
Picking up the alarm clock, I adjusted its settings to ring precisely one minute later.
“Hey, little guy, what are you up to? Setting an alarm to get ready for school?”
“Haha, ‘school’ indeed… more like preparing to meet your death!”
“Hurry up and let us in! Otherwise, when this young master breaks free, I’ll make sure you’re the first to die!”
The three figures in the tree opposite watched my movements with a mixture of curiosity and confusion, clearly baffled by my intentions. It was then they began to speak, attempting to capture my attention.
However, I paid them no mind. After setting the alarm, I simply turned my head to observe the opposing tree.
My gaze shifted between the three individuals and the tree itself. It didn’t take long before I pinpointed the ideal spot.
With a swift flick of my wrist, the hand holding the alarm clock launched it directly towards the chosen location on the tree.
The alarm clock soared through the air in a perfect arc before lodging firmly between two branches, securely stuck in place.
Just as the alarm clock settled into the tree fork, its piercing ring instantly blared to life.
The sudden sound not only startled the three people in the tree, but also immediately drew the attention of the zombies below.
“What the hell, are you crazy? Why would you throw an alarm clock here?”
“Damn it! I’ll haunt you even as a ghost!”
“If we die, you won’t get off easy either!”
Ignoring their frantic shouts, I straightened my posture, my eyes fixed intently upon them.
The alarm clock had landed in a remarkably precise spot, directly above their heads. Yet, even if they stretched their arms, they couldn’t possibly reach it; their only option would be to stand up on the branch.
Standing on such slender branches was already terrifying, even in normal times—let alone merely crouching. The fear of falling was constant.
But now, in this zombie apocalypse, even a simple fall from the tree would be the least of their worries! The critical danger was that once they hit the ground, their bodies would be violently torn apart by the ravenous zombies.
Therefore, as the zombies below were drawn by the sound, they began to pile up around the tree. This sight turned the faces of the three individuals pale, and they screamed in terror.
Listening to their screams, I then retrieved a one-yuan coin from my spatial storage.
I raised my hand, squinting one eye, and aligned it with the alarm clock’s position in the tree.
Once certain, I flicked my thumb with immense force.
The coin shot through the air with a speed comparable to a bullet. In an instant, it pierced the continuously ringing alarm clock, bringing its shrill sound to an abrupt halt.
With the cessation of the alarm, the three individuals in the tree collectively brightened, expressions of immense relief washing over their faces. They all breathed a sigh of relief.
If the alarm had continued to ring, it wouldn’t just be the zombies below; even those from the surrounding areas would have been drawn by the noise. In such a scenario, the three wouldn’t have lasted even a minute before being dragged down and devoured.
Having completed this series of actions, I observed the now much quieter trio in the tree. I mentally estimated that, under the threat of the alarm, their emotions should have been sufficiently stirred.
“Now, I ask, and you answer. If you refuse to answer or lie, I can always throw another alarm clock.”
“Okay, ask away! We’ll tell you everything we know!”
Indeed, just as I had anticipated, my previous tactic of using the alarm clock had worked. The one who seemed to be their leader was the first to speak.
His face still bore the relief of having narrowly escaped death, making his response the quickest.
“Why did you come to my house?”
“Brother Li sent us. He wants us to bring Bai Xia back to the factory.”
“Why are you bothering Bai Xia?”
“Before these man-eating zombies appeared, Brother Li took an interest in Bai Xia, introduced by her best friend, Wang Lili. So, he wanted to take advantage of the chaos to bring Bai Xia to his side.”
“Is that so…”
Upon hearing his words, my face, instead of showing anger, curved into a smile.
So, that Brother Li still harbored malicious intentions, even after the apocalypse, daring to provoke my sister again…
Flames of fury ignited in my eyes. That Brother Li, who coveted my sister, had just been marked as a dead man in my heart.
