Chapter 88: The Mysterious Woman in Ancient Robes

I told the group of ‘kill-mats’ before me to leave immediately. Yet, my words fell on deaf ears.

So, after counting to three, I directly used my spatial abilities, manipulating their vehicles into the air.

By the time these individuals realized their predicament and attempted to scatter, their chance had already vanished.

However, King Feng, their leader, possessed a keen sense of observation. While everyone else panicked and fled for their lives, he seemed to grasp that I was the one orchestrating everything.

He immediately knelt before me, kowtowing repeatedly in desperate supplication.

I paid him no mind, continuing instead to hurl the floating vehicles, one after another, at the fleeing figures.

‘Apologies and pleas for mercy? What good are they now? The moment they chose to oppose me, they should have prepared to forfeit their lives.’

“Big Brother, please stop! Spare my brothers,” King Feng finally pleaded, seeing that I showed no sign of stopping and was, in fact, beginning to throw the airborne vehicles down onto the people. “I… I’m willing to tell you information about *that* woman!”

His face was etched with frustration as he uttered a baffling statement.

“What woman?” I asked.

“The strange woman who ran away! A few days ago, a woman in a cheongsam also came asking about her. Oh, damn it! In broad daylight, lightning struck and killed several of my subordinates!”

Upon hearing King Feng’s words, I paused my actions.

With a casual wave, the vehicles still suspended in mid-air plummeted to the ground. I then extended my foot and delivered a swift kick to the man kneeling before me.

He tumbled several times across the ground before finally stabilizing himself. Even then, he remained sprawled, daring not to move.

‘A fleeing woman? A woman in a cheongsam?’

My primary objective for this trip was merely to seek rare treasures at the botanical garden and investigate the mysterious group. Yet, how had another matter suddenly become entangled in my plans?

Moreover, when speaking of a woman in a cheongsam in the apocalypse, only one particular woman came to mind.

As these thoughts swirled, my brows furrowed unconsciously. I raised a hand to my chin, then voiced my confusion to King Feng.

“The woman in the cheongsam, do you know her name?”

“This… this lowly one does not know. When that cheongsam-clad woman arrived, she had a large group of formidable bodyguards behind her. I was merely a moment too slow in answering, and she sliced off one of my ears.”

“Was she wearing a black cheongsam, with her hair styled in an updo, and exceptionally beautiful?”

“Yes, yes, exactly her! At the time, her group seemed to be pursuing some fleeing woman, and they specifically asked if we had noticed the strange woman’s direction.”

“How did you answer?”

Once I confirmed that the woman in the cheongsam was Shen Qing, my curiosity intensified. It had been a long time since we parted ways in H City, and I never expected to hear her name again, especially under such circumstances.

‘And they were chasing a strange woman? What was going on?’

“Originally, I intended to tell the cheongsam-clad woman the truth. But after she suddenly cut off my ear, I pointed them in the opposite direction. Now, they probably have no idea where she ran off to.”

As King Feng spoke, a hint of smugness flickered across his face, clearly proud of having outsmarted Shen Qing and her group.

I paid his smugness no mind. My curiosity was now thoroughly piqued, and I found myself intensely interested in the fleeing woman.

“What did the woman they were chasing look like? Did you truly see her? And with so many women passing through this path, how are you certain it was the one they were referring to?”

“That fleeing woman was peculiar! That’s why the impression is so vivid. At the time, I was hiding in a shop, watching the scenes of cannibalism outside through the glass window. Suddenly, a woman wearing ancient robes appeared…”

“Wait, what do you mean by ‘ancient robes’?”

I had initially been curious about who the poisonous widow Shen Qing was chasing. However, as King Feng continued, I suddenly found myself utterly bewildered.

Before my rebirth, throughout the apocalypse, aside from Shen Qing, who was known for always wearing a cheongsam, I had never heard of any other woman dressed in ancient robes.

Therefore, I now harbored deep suspicions that King Feng might be deceiving me with lies.

“Big Brother, I swear everything I’m saying is true! That strange woman was wearing clothes straight out of an ancient period drama, like what a concubine in the imperial palace would wear—and bright red, too! But that’s not even the strangest part…”

“What else was strange about her?”

“The main thing was that this palace-attired woman walked down the street, and not a single zombie attacked her! Not only that, but as the strange woman passed, the swarming zombies would actually move aside to make way for her.”

“…If you’re lying to me, you know the consequences.”

“I’m really not lying to you! I even told the cheongsam-clad woman about this situation. She didn’t even show a surprised expression; she just looked grave and chased off in the direction I pointed.”

Listening to King Feng, my expression slowly grew solemn.

Before my rebirth, even though I had been the leader of a medium-sized base, I had never heard of anything like what this man described.

Who was this mysterious woman in palace attire, capable of making mindless zombies, driven only by a craving for flesh and blood, step aside for her?

After King Feng recounted everything he knew, I reached behind me, conjuring the map of H City from my spatial dimension, along with a pen.

Handing both the pen and the map to King Feng, I instructed him to mark the direction the palace-attired woman had taken.

Just ahead lay a crossroads, making it crucial to know the mysterious woman’s precise destination.

Once King Feng finished marking the map, I fixed my gaze upon it.

To my surprise, the mysterious woman was heading in the exact same direction as the botanical garden I intended to visit.
