Chapter 66: Wine and the Sound of Waves

“Boo hoo… Master, you’re so mean!”

Lin Shishi, blushing, lightly punched her shoulder. “How can your mind be always on this kind of thing?”

“Isn’t it normal?”

Song Qinghuan replied with unshakable confidence. “Who told my little treasure to be so cute and irresistible? If I’m not constantly thinking about devouring you, what if someone steals you away? Besides…”

She paused, her smile deepening. “Think about what you write. Tsk, tsk. Such a delicate little body, yet your mind is filled with so many strange ideas?”

“Ah! Master, please stop!”

Lin Shishi wished she could crawl into a hole. She could only rub her cheek against Song Qinghuan’s nape in protest.

“Alright, alright, I’ll stop. We’re home.”

Song Qinghuan comforted her.

As she spoke, she had already carried Lin Shishi steadily down the mountain path and arrived before a two-story building, its windows glowing with warm light.

She carefully set Lin Shishi down.

Lin Shishi’s feet touched the solid ground, and she gently flexed her slightly numb ankles.

They exchanged a smile, naturally linked arms again, and walked shoulder to shoulder into the small courtyard.

In the yard, Lin Mo had already set up a small square table, laden with a dazzling array of steaming dishes.

Seeing the two girls return hand in hand, Lin Mo’s face lit up with a relieved smile. “Go wash your hands quickly and eat together. Tonight’s dishes are even more plentiful than lunch—a little nourishment for you.”

Song Qinghuan’s face beamed with joy. “Auntie, you’ve gone to so much trouble! Thank you!”

Lin Shishi also happily ran over to the table for a look, her eyes sparkling. “Wow! So fragrant! I’m going to eat my fill again!”

Song Qinghuan walked over to her. While pretending to arrange the dishes, she leaned close to her ear and whispered in a voice only they could hear, with an ambiguous murmur: “Of course you should eat well. But remember what we agreed tonight… we’re going to drink—together.”

Lin Shishi’s body stiffened, and her face flushed scarlet, even the tips of her ears turning pink.

Was it really going to be like that?

‘Boo… wouldn’t I get drunk really fast?’

…

After dinner, Lin Shishi and Song Qinghuan attended to Lin Mo, helping her take her medicine.

The pills were post-surgical anti-inflammatory and bone-healing tablets, swallowed with warm water.

Lin Mo leaned against the headboard, watching the two busy girls, a hint of relieved smile on her face.

She patted her daughter’s hand, then nodded at Song Qinghuan, speaking in a gentle tone. “Alright, you’ve had a tiring day too. Go get some rest. I can manage on my own here; no need to keep watch over me.”

Song Qinghuan immediately tightened her grip on Lin Shishi’s hand, lightly hooking her fingertip against her palm while casting a meaningful glance.

Lin Shishi bit her lower lip, her long, curled eyelashes lowering.

Despite her shyness, she obediently let Song Qinghuan lead her, softly muttering “Mom, rest early,” and was pulled out of the room.

The bedroom door clicked shut.

Lin Mo looked at the closed door, listening to the light footsteps of the two girls outside, and couldn’t help but smile.

Song Qinghuan took Lin Shishi’s hand and led her up the wooden stairs to the second floor, into Lin Shishi’s small room.

The room was not big, the furnishings simple.

A single bed stood against the wall, covered with a clean light-blue floral bedsheet.

A wooden desk sat by the window, neatly stacked with a few books and a small vase holding an unknown flower.

Beside it was a modest wardrobe.

The room was spotlessly clean, filled with a faint, pleasant scent—the very essence of Lin Shishi.

“Little treasure, so this is your boudoir?”

Song Qinghuan looked around, her gaze finally resting on Lin Shishi, who was walking toward the window.

Moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a soft silver edge around her slender figure.

“Mm, it’s a bit small and plain…”

Lin Shishi felt a little embarrassed, her voice soft.

She walked to the window and, with a rustling sound, pushed open the old-fashioned wooden lattice window.

Instantly, the night breeze, carrying the salty scent of seaweed, rushed in, gently stirring the fine hairs on her forehead and the ends of her twin ponytails resting on her shoulders.

The girl took a deep breath, unconsciously spreading her arms as if to embrace the tranquil night.

She had changed into a thin home dress; the wind lightly pressed it against her body, clearly outlining the graceful curves.

The hem just brushed the middle of her thighs, revealing a pair of straight, fair legs and bare feet with rounded toes.

“So comfortable…”

Lin Shishi closed her eyes, her voice carrying the softness of complete relaxation after returning home.

But the next second, a warm, tall body pressed against her from behind.

Song Qinghuan’s arms wrapped around her waist, embracing her tightly.

Song Qinghuan’s voice dropped low. “Isn’t it… more comfortable with your master by your side?”

Lin Shishi’s body trembled slightly, then softened, relaxing further into the warm embrace behind her.

She nodded. “Mm…”

Song Qinghuan hugged her tighter, leading them both to lean forward slightly, so that her upper body was almost against the windowsill.

This posture forced the girl to rise on tiptoe, her ankles forming slender, graceful lines.

Song Qinghuan pressed close from behind, their bodies melding together.

“Baby.”

Song Qinghuan’s lips almost touched Lin Shishi’s earlobe. “Does the sound of the waves… sound nice?”

“…It does.” Lin Shishi’s voice was already unsteady.

“Then… how about we add some accompaniment to the sound of the waves?” Song Qinghuan said with a low laugh.

Downstairs in the room.

Lin Mo picked up a book—a habit she had cultivated over the years.

Before sleeping, she would read a few pages of essays.

But now, Lin Mo’s right hand paused slightly.

From outside the window came a dense rustling of wind.

Amidst the wind, faint music mingled—

Lin Mo walked to the window and gently closed her own window, shutting out most of the sounds, leaving only a blurry background noise.

“That’s really pretty loud…”

She murmured to herself, a faint smile on her lips, then turned and slowly moved back to the bed.

***

Upstairs in the room.

Lin Shishi lay limply by the windowsill.

The girl gazed at the rising moon in the east—

But she was covered in a fine sheen of sweat.

“Sleepy?” Song Qinghuan smiled, helping the girl straighten her slightly disheveled dress.

Lin Shishi gave a soft “mm,” her voice limp and weak, like a kitten begging for affection.

Song Qinghuan chuckled softly, turned, walked to the table, and took out a bottle of red wine.

She returned to the window, placed the glasses on the windowsill, and deftly pulled out the cork.

Lin Shishi saw the red wine and the glint in Song Qinghuan’s eyes, and instantly understood.

“Qinghuan… don’t, okay? It’s too late—”

Song Qinghuan walked behind Lin Shishi, her voice coaxing. “Be good, drink a little—it’ll help you sleep—”

Lin Shishi looked at her, then at the wine, and finally gave in.

As she drank, her body tensed slightly.

“Mm…!” Lin Shishi gripped the edge of the windowsill.

“Not good?” the girl asked softly.

“Mm—” Lin Shishi frowned.

Mostly… it was a bit cold.

Half an hour later.

The wine bottle was casually placed on the floor, now empty.

Lin Shishi collapsed limply into Song Qinghuan’s arms, her breath carrying the sweet aroma of wine.

Her body was burning hot, her skin flushed a beautiful pink.

“Master… I, I feel… I’m getting drunk so fast…”

She mumbled softly, her voice more coquettish and sticky than usual.

The girl held her forehead, yet her face wore an almost intoxicated smile. “People say… that drunk comes quickly…”
