Join the ServerMagic is a force of life and spirit. More precisely, any living being can essentially use magic, but each race is different. Since you’re here taking basic magic studies, it means most of you have never been exposed to magic. So today, I’ll teach you how to discover your own magic. First…
A male teacher with black-rimmed glasses stood confidently at the blackboard, drawing strange symbols with chalk. But my head grew heavier, my eyes narrowed, and I struggled to copy the symbols in my notebook.
As the lesson wore on, my concentration waned. Suddenly, something small landed on my head. I reached up and grabbed it—a paper ball. I never thought people in this world would pass notes in class too. But I’d been at this school for less than a day. I didn’t know anyone, so why would someone pass a note to me?
“Stay in your seat after class. I have something to tell you.”
The handwriting was very neat. But who was it? What could they possibly want to say to me, a newcomer here?
I looked around left and right, but everyone was staring at the blackboard.
I had been on the verge of falling asleep, but this note made me incredibly anxious—though I didn’t know why I was panicking.
“…Alright, class dismissed.”
The teacher ended the lesson decisively. Even though I hadn’t paid much attention and had mostly stared blankly at the board, I picked up my umbrella, tucked my notebook under my arm, and stood up. I wanted to find Xiao Linlin and the others quickly; there was an inexplicable unease here.
The moment I stood up and stepped over my desk, a very tall girl suddenly appeared in front of me, blocking my way.
I shifted my umbrella slightly and looked up at her.
She was a girl with tea-colored hair and gold-rimmed glasses, smiling at me. It was a kind smile, seemingly without any ill intent.
“Um… was it you who wanted to see me?” I ventured cautiously.
“Yes.”
“What is it?”
“Well, you’re the maid who got a steak at Fuwelle’s last family banquet, right?”
“Yes, what about it?”
“…Never mind, I’ll be direct. You’re looking for others with a Magic Box like yourself, aren’t you?”
“Huh????”
I glanced around, then turned back to her and nodded.
“How did you know?”
“My Magic Box told me during class.”
Her palm glowed green.
“This is…”
The light faded, revealing a square silver box floating in the air.
“Your Magic Box?”
“Mm. It told me to find you after class, but it didn’t say why.”
Her box circled around me, scanning me with a green light.
“Chuye? Let’s go eat and then… Who are you?”
Xiao Linlin appeared at the classroom door. She was pretty punctual, but what should I do in this situation?
“You have time tonight, right? See you then. Same place.” She bent down and whispered to me.
I nodded. Since she had approached me on her own, I agreed.
I quickly hurried toward Xiao Linlin under my umbrella and took her hand.
“Let’s go. I’m hungry.”
I forcibly dragged her away from there.
“Who was that?”
“I don’t know either. Let’s hurry and get away from here.”
“How much do you want to drink? We only brought two liters.”
“Just the usual amount.”
