I stood with my hands on my hips, panting, and glanced at He Yizi beside me. Only then did I feel something on the bridge of my nose. I reached up and touched it. It was He Fengji’s glasses.
My consciousness hadn’t been fully intact earlier, so I hadn’t noticed.
Letting Ashiya take over my body came with some serious side effects. Probably also because I hadn’t been eating properly.
Forget it. I’d take them off and return them when I had the chance.
Just as I was about to take the glasses off, He Yizi grabbed my hand.
“What?”
“They look… really good on you. I’m sure your Young Master will love them. It’s definitely not that I like them, okay?”

“Hm. Why do you like reading so much?”
“Heh, as expected, a house-raised vampire like you can’t compare to us! I wouldn’t call this reading so much as studying. I want my mind and thoughts to surpass humans. That way, I can call them lowly creatures and rule over them. So you should read more too. Don’t disgrace us vampires.”
She spoke in a playful tone while tidying her hair.
I took off the glasses and gave my bangs a perfunctory brush. But of course, I couldn’t see myself in the lenses.
I didn’t even know what I actually looked like, and here I was fussing over my hair. It felt a little ridiculous.
I put the golden-rimmed glasses, the ones that weren’t mine, back on and blinked.
About half an hour later, He Yizi suddenly closed her book.
“They’re back. Your Young Master is back.”
I stared at her in surprise.
“How do you know?”

The wooden door in front was pushed open.
“See, we’re back. How did you sleep, Chuye? Huh, why are you wearing glasses?”
It was Xiao Linlin and the Young Master who entered side by side. Xiao Linlin stared at me in surprise, while the Young Master didn’t say a word. Then, suddenly, her nose started bleeding nonstop.
“Whoa, that much destructive power?” I was a little stunned, but I still asked in a shocked tone.
The Young Master covered her nose, but the blood kept flowing.
“It’s nothing. It’s just… I soaked in the hot spring too long. It has nothing to do with little Chuye. But… she’s just too cute!”
The Young Master sat down, tilted her head back, and said to Ke Ying, who had just taken her seat.
“So this is the little Chuye that Ke Ying saw when she went to get the sword. The one she said was so adorable. Too cute.”
“Hm.”
