Join the ServerWalking through the bustling cafeteria, umbrella in hand and draped in a large cloak, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was drawing strange, curious stares.
“Where are they?”
“On the third floor, let’s hurry up.”
I tightened my grip on her hand. Being watched by so many people was truly uncomfortable. I definitely, absolutely wouldn’t come again.
Upon reaching the second floor, there were noticeably fewer people than on the first. By the third floor, I could only see Fuwelle and the Kelo sisters sitting at a table not far away, waving at us.
Fuwelle saw me and pulled out a chair, also drawing the curtains. I sat down gently and looked around. Sure enough, there was no one else. Despite the same layout as downstairs, why… I glanced at Fuwelle.
“Why is this entire floor empty except for the five of us?”
“This place is a restaurant only accessible to royalty. The food is quite good.”
Xiao Linlin nodded. I finally understood why she liked this school.
Kelo pulled out a small black glass bottle from under the table. Black glass! How intriguing. Ke Ying pushed it toward me. “This is lunch. Yours.” Kelo patted the bottle.
“Hey~ Ke Ying and I searched several ancient towns to find this bottle for you. Don’t break it, okay~” I caught a hint of sadness and reluctance in her eyes.
“Don’t worry! I won’t break it. But what’s so special about it?”
Kelo patted her chest. “This can slow down blood evaporation…” Ke Ying tapped Kelo on the head, then looked at me. “This bottle keeps the blood inside from spoiling. It’s usually used for storing special potions.” The bottle even shimmered with a faint light in the shadows.
“Thank you both! I’ll take good care of it.”
I picked up the bottle from the table. Sure enough, there was blood inside… Whether it was an illusion or not, I could actually smell the scent of blood from the bottle… So… fragrant…
Fuwelle patted my head. “Let’s order something to eat. You must all be hungry?” Xiao Linlin nodded vigorously again, confirming my suspicion even more. My hand began to tremble. The allure of blood really was overwhelming.
“I’ll… start first.” I opened the bottle cap. Indeed, a strong smell of blood. I took a sip. It was just like the blood from that tree. I treated it like a drink and finished it in two gulps.
The dishes they ordered were all very elaborate—every kind you could imagine, though I hadn’t seen them before.
“Do you eat this much every day?”
“If I were alone, I’d just have a bowl of ramen. But when they all come, we eat this much.”
Fuwelle stared intently at the table full of food. She was definitely a foodie too. The only normal one at the table was Ke Ying, who ordered a plate of plain noodles. Yes, she was the only sensible one.
Ke Ying noticed me staring at her. She looked up.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing…”
Fuwelle looked up with a smile.
“What’s wrong? Want some too? I heard different types of blood affect the flavor. Next time, I’ll get you a different kind!”
“No need. I just consume it for daily sustenance.”
I put my gloves back on, took out my notebook, and handed it to her.
“Here are my notes.”
Fuwelle was eating something that looked like tempura. I grabbed a napkin and wiped the oil from the corner of her mouth.
“Thanks! I don’t need these notes. I’ve already studied the material.”
“Huh?”
I looked at her, feeling a pang of loss. Sensing my low spirits, she patted my head.
“Open wide!”
“Hmm?”
I instinctively opened my mouth, and she stuffed a shrimp into it.
“…”
I was about to spit it out, but driven by curiosity, I chewed it instead.
“How is it?”
I still swallowed it, even though the process was unpleasant.
“Can I go sleep for a while? I almost fell asleep during class earlier…”
Ke Ying stood up and wiped her hands with a handkerchief.
“Young Master, I’ll take her to the dorm to rest for a bit.”
Xiao Linlin asked, “Are you full? There’s still so much food…”
“No need, I’m fine.”
Fuwelle nodded. “Go ahead. She was really sleepy on the way here. Besides, there are no classes this afternoon, right?”
I adjusted my cloak and picked up my umbrella. Ke Ying made a gesture to the Young Master, as if they had some other plan…
