Chapter 15: A Heartfelt Confession

“Remember, your schedule is now opposite to ours. So for you, it’s still early. After you wake me up tomorrow morning, you can go to sleep.”

“I read the book. It says so. But I’ll only call you at the door, I won’t come in.”

“I’ll just stay here.”

Xiao Linlin looked at me. As I turned to find a book, she suddenly hugged me from behind. I quickly turned to face her. She buried her head in me.

“Why all of a sudden…”

“I couldn’t say it in front of Young Master earlier. Now I have something to tell you.”

“Okay.”

“Chuye… Do you know why I jumped out to save you back then? Even though you didn’t manage to save me…” Her voice trembled.

“I don’t know. I…”

“Because since kindergarten, I promised to protect you. But after I came to this world, I felt something was missing. That whole year, I thought about you.”

She sobbed against me. In our old school days, I was easily bullied because of my personality, but she always stepped in to help. Even though she could be unreliable, I don’t know what I’d have done without her by my side.

“It’s okay~ I ended up dying here too, didn’t I?”

“Haha~ So now I feel really happy. Even though you’re no longer a boy but an adorable little girl, I’ll still be the same as before.”

She was laughing and crying at the same time—it looked a bit ridiculous. I don’t know why she chose to say all this here, but she must have been holding it in for a long time. I am truly grateful to her, but…

“Then why did you help Fuwelle tease me?”

“Because you’re so much fun!”

“Huh? Fun?”

She stood up, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with her sleeve, and quickly recovered.

“I couldn’t hold it in just now. But when I heard the Young Master say your name, I thought I misheard. Then I saw her demeanor and personality—it was all the same. I knew it had to be you.”

“It’s almost time for you to wake the Young Master, right?”

“Yeah.” I nodded.
