I smoothed the wrinkled hem of my skirt, stood up, put on my gloves, and picked up the umbrella beside me. The Young Master came over and draped a cloak over my back.
“Alright. By the way, when do you have your exam?”
“Probably… not today.”
“Didn’t you say it was two days?”
“Just so I could keep you at school for a day, hehe… Next time, I’ll definitely tell the truth, okay?”

We closed the door and walked downstairs. Several knights in silver armor stood at the entrance with longswords in hand. I didn’t recall seeing them yesterday.
The Young Master took the umbrella and opened it, ready to lead me to the cafeteria. But the knights blocked our way. Staring at a helmeted knight, a strange memory suddenly flashed through my mind—the knight who killed “me” in the spirit world? No… probably all knights looked like this.

“I’m sorry, Young Master Fuwelle. There was a vampire attack on campus last night. Fortunately, not much blood was taken. For your safety and that of the other students, I cannot allow you to leave.”
Through the armor, I heard a woman’s voice—sounding quite young. How did she manage to support that heavy-looking armor?

“Let’s go back…”
“Young Master Fuwelle, I’ll have someone bring you food shortly,” the knight said from behind.
“Okay!”
With that, she grabbed my hand and pulled me back upstairs. I could feel her excitement. She quickly opened the door and pounced on me, throwing me onto the bed… She looked at me with an expression I’d never seen before, and I knew it definitely wasn’t a smile.
“What’s… wrong?”
“Last night, did you…”
“No, it wasn’t me!” I replied quickly. She must have thought I had sucked some classmate’s blood, but it was probably that bob-haired girl.

“Y-yes…” I turned my head away, unable to meet her gaze, feeling a pang of guilt.

After hearing me out, she got up, stepped off the bed, and pulled me into a sitting position.
“Looks like I’ll have to protect you well from now on, or someone might steal you away.”
Suddenly, I remembered a question I’d wanted to ask since waking up.
“If I said I wanted to know about your childhood, would you tell me?”
“Huh? That’s sudden. But I suppose I could tell you. Do you really want to know? It was over a hundred years ago—I might not remember clearly…”
I took her hand and looked into her eyes.
