I said softly. The tightly curled thing slowly stretched out. I sat on the edge of the bed, mentally preparing.

She sat up and started rummaging for clothes. I lay still on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
This had been the routine ever since I agreed to wake her every morning. I was used to it by now.

“It’s light outside, right?”
