Chapter 37: The Vanishing Wound and a Confused Awakening

Unable to continue her actions, Su Yao finally remembered her original purpose.

Lin Qing, disoriented from the severe blood loss, seemed oblivious. He allowed her to lie on him, kissing and licking him with fervent abandon, showing no sign of resistance.

Su Yao couldn’t help but stick out her tongue playfully. She refrained from taking further advantage of Lin Qing, maintaining her straddling posture. One hand, however, swiftly lifted Lin Qing’s injured palm.

With a bandage in her other hand, she was prepared to…

‘Eh?’

‘The wound.’

‘It’s gone?’

The motion to bandage Lin Qing’s hand froze. Immediately, Su Yao tossed aside the bandage she held. With both hands, she grasped Lin Qing’s injured palm, meticulously turning it over and examining it from every angle.

As she scrutinized his hand, the bewildered expression on Su Yao’s face deepened.

‘Impossible!’

She had been so excited by Lin Qing’s wound just moments ago, so it couldn’t have been a mistake on her part. The blood stains covering the floor also served as undeniable proof of his injury.

Yet, Lin Qing’s palm was now perfectly smooth, devoid of even a single scar.

‘What exactly is going on?’

‘What secret is Lin Qing truly hiding?’

Lost in these thoughts, Su Yao gazed intently at Lin Qing, who sat slumped against the wardrobe, his eyes half-closed in a weary daze, seemingly without the strength to even speak.

He looked as if he might lapse into unconsciousness at any second.

He had been full of vigor just a short while ago, so why had he suddenly become so weak and exhausted? Su Yao’s eyes brimmed with curiosity, but this was not the right moment to press him for answers.

Given Lin Qing’s nature, even if she were to question him, she wouldn’t get a response. Ultimately, she would have to rely on herself.

“Student Lin, you’re finally awake!”

When Lin Qing finally regained consciousness, he saw the familiar decor and the Infirmary Teacher, instantly realizing where he was.

But how had he ended up in the infirmary?

Before he passed out, he remembered being with Su Yao in the changing room. That crazed woman, Su Yao, had suddenly pounced on him, kissing him relentlessly, fierce as a beast unleashed from its cage.

After witnessing the red skull transform before his very eyes, Lin Qing had no intention of enduring Su Yao’s forced kisses any longer. However, when he tried to resist, he found himself unable to exert any strength.

His consciousness grew hazy at that moment, preventing him from clearly perceiving anything around him. Eventually, he had inexplicably fainted, only to wake up in the infirmary.

‘Where was Su Yao?’

“Teacher, how did I get here?”

Remembering being with Su Yao before he lost consciousness, Lin Qing lay on the sickbed, looking at the Infirmary Teacher, and immediately asked for the full story.

At this point, it would be more comprehensive to hear it from someone else. Although he desperately wanted to ask about Su Yao, the need to keep their relationship a secret prompted Lin Qing to phrase his question differently.

However, upon hearing Lin Qing’s inquiry, the Infirmary Teacher’s cheerful expression instantly shifted. He quickly became crestfallen, like a child who had done something wrong, his eyes filled with profound guilt.

This made Lin Qing inwardly question, ‘???’. He had no idea what had happened. No matter how he thought about it, everything that occurred in the changing room seemed unrelated to the Infirmary Teacher.

“This is all my fault. I worried about things unnecessarily, and as a result, I dragged you into this… Student Lin, rest assured, justice will be served for this matter. He will absolutely pay the price!”

While Lin Qing remained utterly bewildered, the Infirmary Teacher’s expression changed once more. He now wore an indignant look, his words filled with anger. This only left Lin Qing more confused about the situation.

“Regarding Li Dong’s assault on you, the school has already begun to address it.”

The Infirmary Teacher kept a close watch on Lin Qing’s condition. Despite his hair obscuring his face, his changing mood was evident from his subtle movements. Seeing Lin Qing’s numerous questions, the Infirmary Teacher immediately got to the point.

He had initially felt pity for Li Dong, who was constantly bullied, and wanted to ask other students to help him. Regardless of how, it would at least alleviate some of his suffering.

But…

Who would have thought that Li Dong would actually stab Lin Qing with a craft knife? The Infirmary Teacher’s previous concern for Li Dong now felt utterly wasted, as if he had thrown it away on a dog. He had also inadvertently caused trouble for an innocent student.

At this thought, the Infirmary Teacher’s gaze towards Lin Qing grew even more remorseful. He pondered how he could possibly compensate Lin Qing. After all, if it hadn’t been for his earlier words, Lin Qing would not have helped Li Dong.

As the Infirmary Teacher was consumed by guilt, Lin Qing, upon hearing the account from his lips, couldn’t help but be stunned. He hadn’t expected Su Yao to have exposed the incident!

It wasn’t that Lin Qing was benevolent and chose to forgive Li Dong’s assault; it was the location where the incident occurred. The girls’ changing room. If this matter were to spread, not only would Li Dong face punishment, but Lin Qing would also be pointed at and gossiped about at school, branded a ‘peeping tom’ and forced to live out the rest of his high school life under that stigma.

This was not the ordinary life Lin Qing desired; in fact, it was anything but ordinary!

“Who brought me here?”

Realizing this, Lin Qing knew he couldn’t just lie there. He had to find Su Yao as quickly as possible. He couldn’t allow things to escalate like this; he needed to stop the situation from worsening.

“The student who brought you here… he seems to have a connection with you. He was the one who brought you here last time too.”

“Last time?”

“Yes, his name is Zhou Lin. He ran and gasped for breath all the way here with you, and then he left again.”

Listening to Lin Qing’s question, the Infirmary Teacher thought for a moment before remarking with emotion, “That Zhou Lin is truly a good student!”

However, Lin Qing’s attention was not on Zhou Lin at the moment. He felt that his initial guess had been wrong. It wasn’t Su Yao, but someone else. In that case, the first place he was discovered was not the changing room.

Suddenly understanding the crucial detail, Lin Qing immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

“Teacher, I…”

“Lin Qing, you’re finally awake!”

Just as Lin Qing was about to ask something else, he was unexpectedly interrupted by a voice filled with joyous surprise. The infirmary door was slammed shut with force, and the burly Wu Gang quickly strode towards Lin Qing.

When he had been hospitalized before, perhaps because Wu Gang was always lying down, he had appeared to have an ordinary physique. However, standing up, he was remarkably strong.

“Teacher Wu, I’m fine.”

“Oh, you child, why are you speaking so formally? Just call me Uncle Wu, like before! How’s your wound? They said you lost a lot of blood; look at how pale your face is, like paper. You’re terribly weak!”

Wu Gang then unceremoniously pulled a nearby chair and sat down, looking at his former patient with concern. He had originally intended to surprise Lin Qing with their reunion, but who would have thought that the surprise would turn into a fright upon meeting?

‘These kids nowadays, who knows what they’re thinking?’

Lin Qing wasn’t the one who bullied Li Dong, so no matter how you looked at it, he shouldn’t be the target of revenge!

As Lin Qing listened to Wu Gang’s questions, he subconsciously clenched his hand, only to freeze in place. ‘Where was his hand wound???’
