Chapter 38: The Vanishing Wound

“Although I didn’t remove his clothes to check, a simple examination revealed no injuries on Student Lin. He merely fainted from discomfort… likely from shock.”

Upon hearing Wu Gang’s concerned words, the Infirmary Teacher, who had been standing nearby, suddenly spoke up, correcting the inaccuracy in Wu Gang’s statement.

Indeed, when Lin Qing was brought in, his face had been deathly pale, yet his clothes remained spotless, without any signs of bleeding.

Even the students who brought him in corroborated that Lin Qing had simply fainted suddenly.

His pallor was purely a symptom of his physical discomfort.

Considering Lin Qing’s history of trauma-induced stress, the Infirmary Teacher surmised that certain events might have triggered his condition.

However, due to the sensitive nature of Lin Qing’s privacy, the Infirmary Teacher refrained from stating this directly.

“No injuries? That’s a huge relief! The police just arrested Li Dong, and they found bloodstains on him. Tests confirmed it wasn’t his own, and Li Dong confessed candidly… the blood on his clothes belonged to Lin Qing.”

Though Wu Gang’s words were interrupted, he showed no irritation. Instead, he let out a sigh of relief upon hearing the Infirmary Teacher’s explanation.

Even if the police station had already received their results, the Infirmary Teacher’s confirmation made it undeniable.

It was good that Lin Qing was unharmed.

“When Li Dong attacked me, I accidentally hit a wall and bled quite a bit from my nose. The blood probably got onto his clothes then!”

Initially, Lin Qing had believed the anesthetic was preventing him from feeling the pain of his palm wound.

Now, however, it seemed that wasn’t the case.

From the Infirmary Teacher, he confirmed his wound had vanished. A flicker of panic stirred within Lin Qing, but with his dark hair obscuring his face, no one else could perceive it.

Only he knew.

The sudden vanishing of his wound was, by current medical and technological standards, an impossible feat for instantaneous healing.

Thus, Lin Qing immediately pinpointed the cause.

It was the red skull hovering above Su Yao’s head.

The disappearing crimson had not vanished entirely; instead, it had surged directly into his body, facilitated by Su Yao’s kiss.

Earlier, when he noticed the changes in the red skull, Lin Qing had wondered where that vanished crimson had gone.

Now, it appeared it had all transferred to him.

What was truly unexpected, though, was its apparent healing effect…

“Lin Qing, you can go home and rest for a couple of days. There’s no need to push yourself.”

As Wu Gang and the Infirmary Teacher listened to Lin Qing recount the ‘incident,’ their eyes filled with sympathy, thinking how truly unlucky this poor child was.

To encounter such an incident out of nowhere, a faint-hearted person would have long since been reduced to whimpering in terror.

Yet, Lin Qing remained composed—a truly admirable child!

“Uncle Wu, Li Dong didn’t injure me; I was just a little startled. I can still attend class!”

However, Lin Qing promptly shook his head at Wu Gang’s suggestion to go home.

He had too many questions.

He yearned for answers.

He absolutely had to find Su Yao.

“No! I’ve already spoken to your homeroom teacher. You must go home today, at the very least… Someone must have spread the word, because the incident with Li Dong is already circulating. You should stay home for a day; perhaps the buzz will die down by tomorrow.”

Despite Lin Qing’s ‘firm’ desire to study, Wu Gang first offered a look of appreciation, then decisively shook his head.

The situation was spiraling out of control. If Lin Qing returned to class, he would undoubtedly be bombarded with questions from countless people…

The mere thought was irritating.

“Alright.”

Listening to Wu Gang’s worried words, Lin Qing nodded obediently.

Since this matter had already spread, he had likely become the center of attention, making it impossible to approach Su Yao.

He would wait until the fervor subsided.

Subsequently, Lin Qing did not linger in the infirmary. Declining Wu Gang’s offer to escort him, he left the school directly.

He traveled without pause, reaching home with remarkable speed.

The first thing he did upon arriving was to unwrap the bandage from his left hand. His eyes widened in shock as he gazed at his unblemished palm, confirming his suspicion.

Su Yao’s red skull posed no harm; rather, it held unexpected benefits.

“Buzz, buzz, buzz.”

As Lin Qing raised his left hand into the air, examining it with curious intensity, his phone suddenly vibrated.

This prompted Lin Qing to lower his hand, retrieve his phone, and look at the illuminated screen.

[My Dearest ❤️]

Lin Qing fell silent as he stared at the caller ID, then chose to answer the call.

“Su Yao, what exactly happened?”

Even though no sound emanated from the other end after he connected, Lin Qing still uttered Su Yao’s name.

Only Su Yao would be able to touch his phone.

“Oh, impressive! You guessed it was me right away. Lin Qing, do you like me a lot too? Are you satisfied with our kiss at noon?”

Listening to Su Yao’s unreserved words, Lin Qing felt a pang of envy for his classmates.

He had previously suspected Su Yao of having a skin hunger disorder, but a closer look at her every action revealed otherwise.

Her behavior was directed solely at him.

The perfect facade she maintained in front of others daily vanished when she was with him; Su Yao made no effort to conceal herself.

She didn’t treat him as an outsider.

She simply exposed her mischievous true nature.

“…”

Lin Qing chose silence in response to Su Yao’s verbal teasing.

The more he said, the more inappropriate it would become.

Given Su Yao’s personality, she would only grow more excited.

“That’s why I don’t like talking on the phone; meeting in person is much better. Want to come over to my place? My room is quite spacious…”

“Su Yao, I’m going to hang up.”

“Alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore. It’s actually quite simple.”

Throughout his interactions with Su Yao, Lin Qing had gradually discovered a few tricks.

He quickly secured Su Yao’s compromise. Though he couldn’t see her expression, her sulky voice carried a hint of reluctance, much like a cute little girl throwing a tantrum.

“After personally changing your blood-stained clothes, I asked a teacher to call students to take you to the infirmary. Then, I had professionals clean the changing room, ensuring not a single drop of blood would remain, and you wouldn’t become a perverted peeping tom.”

Lin Qing paid no mind to Su Yao’s displeasure, focusing instead on the sequence of events.

Su Yao was a clever woman; she knew what he was currently worried about.

“What happened after I fainted? Why did my wound disappear?”

With his most pressing concern addressed, Lin Qing looked at his left hand and immediately asked, feigning ignorance.

As things stood, only he knew the reason for his left hand’s recovery; Su Yao was unaware.

Therefore, even if Su Yao had seen the wound disappear, it wouldn’t be a significant problem.

However, he had successfully piqued Su Yao’s curiosity.

It would be difficult for it to subside now.

Still, since Su Yao was already clinging to him like a koala, a little extra curiosity hardly mattered.

“The wound disappeared?”

However, Su Yao’s question left Lin Qing momentarily stunned.
