The issue of character aptitude templates wasn’t a major concern for Qin Yu at the moment, as having Yin Feixue by his side was more than enough.
A Tier 7 Yin Feixue was capable of handling most enemies in this area.
“Wait, stop.”
Ahead was a derelict church, with several Tier 3 Blood Priests in tattered robes loitering outside.
Perched atop the church was a Tier 5 Nightmare Eye, shaped like a blood-red eyeball, monitoring the surrounding area.
For the average player, this was undoubtedly a high-risk zone.
“Servant, do you truly need to act with such caution against enemies of this level?”
Yin Feixue spoke, another round of mockery at the ready.
Anyone else would likely have reached their limit by now; after all, who could stand a “carry” who nagged constantly from the sidelines?
Then again, a beautiful girl could be forgiven for almost anything, so it was fine.
At the very least, Qin Yu showed infinite tolerance for Yin Feixue, and he would even retort or tease her back from time to time.
“Caution is what keeps one’s ship sailing for ten thousand years. This church is still dangerous; that Tier 5 Nightmare Eye is capable of hurting you, Xiao Xue.”
“Do you think I would lose to it?”
“No, I just don’t want to see you get hurt even a little bit.”
“…”
In the middle of their exchange, Yin Feixue was once again flustered by Qin Yu’s flirting.
Though she showed no outward reaction, her affinity level was honest; it had already climbed from 10 to 20.
“Servant, I shall deal with them. You stay to the side and cheer for your master.”
Yin Feixue didn’t care about the rest; she was ready to strike.
“No rush, Xiao Xue. You take care of that Tier 5 Nightmare Eye, and leave the five Tier 3 Blood Priests to me.”
“You?”
Seeing that Qin Yu intended to fight five Tier 3 Blood Priests personally, Yin Feixue was somewhat skeptical.
Although a Tier 0 could theoretically damage a Tier 3, Qin Yu looked incredibly weak; she couldn’t imagine how he would take on five enemies stronger than himself.
“Do you think I’m not up to the task, Xiao Xue?” Qin Yu asked in return.
Yin Feixue turned her face toward the group of Blood Priests.
“If you can pull it off, servant, I am willing to grant you one request—provided it is not too excessive.”
“Then you must keep your word, Xiao Xue.”
“Naturally. But if you fail, I shall turn you into my personal blood bag.”
A “blood bag” referred to a tool used specifically to provide blood for vampires, also known as a blood s*ave; it was a miserable existence with no freedom, entirely at the vampire’s mercy.
“Xiao Xue, you’re so cruel… to be so heartless to your own lover…”
Qin Yu put on a performance, clutching his heart and pretending to be deeply wounded.
“Hmph. I have no need for someone who holds me back. Do your best, servant!”
With a snap of her fingers, Yin Feixue’s form transformed into a swarm of blood-shadow bats, flying toward the Nightmare Eye atop the church.
The Nightmare Eye, detecting the anomaly, tried to sound an alarm.
“Blood Spike!”
With a sharp shink, a spike of blood pierced through the very center of the Nightmare Eye’s pupil.
The Nightmare Eye died instantly, and Yin Feixue took a seat on the church roof, seemingly finding a prime spot to watch Qin Yu’s upcoming performance.
‘She really didn’t hold back…’
Qin Yu felt a bit helpless as he drew the Blood Thorn given to him by Yin Feixue.
The reason he dared to make this bet was precisely because of this weapon.
If he were still holding his starter sword, he would have stayed obediently behind Yin Feixue to scavenge junk.
But with the Blood Thorn, he had a fighting chance against any monster he could damage.
Qin Yu’s silhouette appeared within the line of sight of the five Blood Priests.
Upon spotting him, the priests immediately moved to surround him.
Suddenly, Qin Yu lunged forward, his form vanishing as he closed in on one of the priests with extreme speed.
A flash of sword light flickered, and the Blood Priest dissolved into a mist of blood, leaving only tattered equipment behind.
Yin Feixue, who had been waiting for the show to start, showed a hint of surprise on her calm face after witnessing that strike.
Quick, accurate, and ruthless—those three words were the perfect description of Qin Yu’s attack.
While an attack of that level meant nothing to her, Qin Yu’s technical proficiency with the sword was remarkably high.
His ambush successfully eliminated one priest, but the remaining four had already reacted.
Four ribbons of blood erupted from the priests’ hands, lashing out like tentacles to entangle Qin Yu.
Qin Yu dodged with a sidestep, the blade of the Blood Thorn shimmering with a faint blue light.
“Water Breaker!”
His sword swung from low to high, carrying the force of a stream surging upward to sever a waterfall.
With a single slash, a Blood Priest was split in two, turning into a flow of blood.
Yin Feixue watched with interest at the sword technique Qin Yu had just used; such skill could only be mastered by a swordsman who had undergone ten thousand trials.
Yet Qin Yu did not look like such a person.
Taking advantage of the opening after Qin Yu used his skill, the blood ribbons swarmed him, attempting to bind him.
“Shadow Step!”
With the 25% dodge bonus and the significant increase in movement speed, Qin Yu evaded the entanglement in an instant.
Immediately following up with a horizontal sweep, he intended to wipe out the remaining three all at once.
Gripping the hilt with both hands, the blade of the Blood Thorn flickered with firelight.
“Reverse Fire!”
He swung the blade across in a wide arc; the three Blood Priests within range were cut down at the waist and incinerated into ash.
“Phew…”
Exhaling a long breath, Qin Yu thrust the Blood Thorn into the ground to support his weary body.
He hadn’t forgotten the sword techniques from his previous life, but his physical attributes couldn’t keep up.
After only a short battle, he was already exhausted, and the two sword techniques he had used hadn’t even reached their original power.
It was far from ideal.
The battle over, Yin Feixue slowly drifted down, her silver hair shimmering as it fluttered in the air.
Qin Yu’s gaze never left her.
“Servant, your performance just now was… acceptable.”
To receive an “acceptable” rating from Yin Feixue meant it was actually quite good.
“However, from whom did you learn your swordsmanship?”
Though she had lost the bet, Yin Feixue was now more curious about why Qin Yu’s skills were so refined—so much so that even she, without using raw power to suppress him, could not match him in pure technique.
“I learned it from my master, of course.”
Qin Yu’s answer was effectively a non-answer.
“Who?”
“A very powerful person, anyway.”
Yin Feixue paused for a moment.
Qin Yu was clearly refusing to tell her who it was.
“If you want me to tell you, Xiao Xue, you must first fulfill the bet we just made.”
“…”
Yin Feixue crossed her arms across her chest with a dissatisfied expression and nodded.
“Fine. State your request—as long as it is not too excessive.”
“And what happens if it is too excessive?” Qin Yu asked, intending to tease her.
“I will turn you into a limbless blood bag on the spot.”
Basically, a blood s*ave without limbs; at that point, the s*ave wasn’t being treated as a human, but rather as a biological toy.
“Then I’ll try to keep it as reasonable as possible…”
