Join the ServerUnable to escape, Ye Feng decided to completely give up and let himself go. And the very first step to letting himself go was: sleeping.
He hadn’t slept well at all last night, so now was the perfect opportunity to catch up on his rest. By the time he woke up, his food would probably be here. How wonderful.
In fact, thinking about it carefully, this kind of life wasn’t entirely terrible, even though it was miles apart from the kept-man lifestyle he had originally envisioned.
Dragging his metal chain along, Ye Feng shimmying further inward onto the bed, doing his best to avoid the blistering sunlight.
Before long, he drifted off into dreamland.
However, this did not seem to be a good dream at all.
In the dream, there came a day when he finally caught an opening and successfully escaped.
He was running completely wild and free down the street. But before he could even take a few paces, someone tackled him heavily to the ground. He desperately tried to thrash and resist, but no matter how hard he fought in the dream, his limbs completely lacked the strength to do anything.
Just as he was plunging into absolute despair, Mu Yuchen appeared. Like a flawless hero, she sent the person who had tackled him flying with a single sharp kick.
And he, acting like a fragile little girl, instantly threw himself into her embrace, weeping and begging for comfort. Mu Yuchen stroked his head gently, offering her solace.
But suddenly, the entire scene warped. The originally tender Mu Yuchen abruptly shifted into a completely different expression. Clamping a hand violently around Ye Feng’s throat, she demanded in a vicious tone:
“Why did you run away? Am I not good to you?!”
Following her roar, she produced a buzzing chainsaw out of nowhere. Amid the deafening roar of the blade, she systematically sawed off Ye Feng’s limbs in one swift motion.
Immediately after, the dream shifted again. In the blink of an eye, he was right back inside the villa. Mu Yuchen was holding his leash, but with his limbs sawed off, he could only crawl flat along the floor, moving forward exactly like a dog. From time to time, he would even let out a couple of sharp barks, nudging his head against Mu Yuchen’s leg.
The imagery warped once more. This time, Ye Feng was sprawled in front of a dog bowl. The bowl was packed tight with dog kibble, and like a real canine, he used his tongue to lap up a few pieces and slip them into his mouth.
He had turned into an actual dog—a dog that barked, ate kibble, and walked on all fours.
One day, Mu Yuchen led him on his leash to attend a massive banquet. The venue was packed entirely with “dogs” just like him.
Gradually, Ye Feng forgot how to speak. He could only bark, and he learned to utilize his whines and growls to convey his emotions.
And on that very day, he completely accepted his identity as a dog, genuinely calling Mu Yuchen his Master from the bottom of his heart.
He grew more and more accustomed to this lifestyle. Every single day, he would crouch directly by the front door, waiting eagerly for his master to return home from work. The exact moment she walked through the door, she would pat his head as a reward.
Until one day, Master brought back a brand-new dog. This “dog” possessed the limbs that he lacked, carried a face he found deeply familiar, and could speak the human language he used to know but could no longer articulate. Once Mu Yuchen had this new dog, he was completely cast aside.
He wasn’t even allowed the right to sleep inside the house anymore. Outside, Master built a kennel for him. The doghouse was incredibly tiny—so small that he could only curl himself into a tight ball to fit inside.
He absolutely loathed that new dog. It had stolen his position. But every time he bared his teeth and snarled at the new dog, Master would beat him, scold him, and despise him.
This only fueled his intense hatred for that “dog.”
Finally, one day, he caught an opening. Just before Master left for work, he snuck into the house early and hid himself away. The moment Master departed, he charged up to the second floor, opening his jaws wide as he lunged straight toward the “dog” lying on the bed.
He had no limbs, only a large set of teeth, so he used his mouth to savagely tear and bite at the creature before him.
He harbored only a single conviction: as long as he killed this interloper, Master would belong to him again. Master would only love him.
Thus, he showed absolutely no mercy with his bites. What confused him, however, was why the “dog” lying on the bed never offered a shred of resistance.
Perplexed, he lifted his head, wanting to see exactly why this creature refused to fight back.
But the moment his eyes locked onto the dog’s face, he froze entirely. This dog actually possessed the exact same face as his own. Perhaps the only difference lay within those eyes—because right now, its eyes were filled with nothing but pure terror.
It stared back at him with eyes drowning in dread. That terror seemed to carry a horrifying, contagious power. He panicked, too. He was overwhelmed by the exact same horror. A suffocating wave of fear completely enveloped him, causing his eyes to snap wide open.
Ye Feng bolted upright in bed, his breathing incredibly ragged. His eyes were heavily bloodshot, and his entire body was thoroughly drenched in a cold sweat.
His mouth twitched slightly as he softly breathed out two words:
“Mas… Master…”
“Hm?!”
Ye Feng clamped both hands over his head, feeling completely dazed and disoriented. This dream was far too terrifying. The exact millisecond he woke up, he had a lingering, phantom sensation that he was still a dog.
If he hadn’t been jolted awake by the horror, Ye Feng truly didn’t know what he would have devolved into.
He fumbled around, grasping the heavy chain locked to his neck. Perhaps he really did need to concoct some sort of plan to escape. Thinking back to his dream where he could only bark and wag his tail to beg for someone’s scraps, a wave of profound terror washed over him.
That version of him wouldn’t be himself at all!
Having wrapped up her morning corporate tasks, Mu Yuchen was in an exceptionally splendid mood. The Gu family had already bowed their heads to her. Even though Gu Yuxin hadn’t personally come over to deliver an apology, that didn’t matter in the slightest—in fact, she was even a bit relieved.
After all, if the girl had actually come to apologize, she might have truly been forced to hand Ye Feng over to her out of courtesy. Fortunately, the girl had been too stubborn to show up, so who else could she blame but herself?
Pulling out her phone to check the time, it was just about noon. It was time to deliver lunch to her little s*ave.
Stepping out of her executive office, she scanned the floor. The staff members were all working diligently at their stations. But when Mu Yuchen’s gaze drifted over to Du Xiaowen’s desk, she failed to spot her assistant’s silhouette.
Mu Yuchen strolled over to a nearby junior employee.
“Hello, Boss!”
“Mm. Where is Xiaowen? Why isn’t she at her desk?”
“Ah, Secretary Du is sick today. She called in to take a full day of sick leave.”
“Sick?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“I see. Carry on with your good work.”
Mu Yuchen patted the employee’s shoulder, offering a token of corporate encouragement. Though Du Xiaowen taking a sudden leave of absence struck her as slightly odd, she didn’t dwell on it.
However, since Xiaowen wasn’t available, the task of delivering the food meant she would have to personally handle it herself.
A solitary figure, keeping her head low, meticulously avoided the residential neighborhood’s surveillance cameras as she arrived outside Mu Yuchen’s villa.
Shaking slightly, she produced a key from her pocket and with absolute caution, unlocked the front door.
Meanwhile, Ye Feng was staring blankly up at the ceiling in a daze, completely oblivious to the impending danger racing his way.
It wasn’t until a heavy series of thud-thud-thud footsteps echoed from the staircase that Ye Feng finally snapped his attention toward the bedroom door.
Patting his stomach, Ye Feng figured he could easily demolish three large bowls of food. That’s right—he fully assumed the person delivering his lunch had finally arrived. After all, given the hour, it was about time.
But the exact moment a woman dressed in a pitch-black hoodie and wearing a black face mask materialized in the doorway, Ye Feng instantly sensed that something was catastrophically wrong.
“Who are you?”
Ye Feng sat straight up in bed. Given her current attire, this person was clearly up to no good. Most importantly, her hands were completely empty of any food. She didn’t look a single bit like Mu Yuchen, making it impossible for Ye Feng to associate her with a good samaritan.
Staring at the panicked expression on the little man’s face across the bed, Du Xiaowen slowly licked her lips. Today, she was finally going to ride him.
Gulp!~
Ye Feng swallowed hard. He could instinctively feel that this woman was coming directly for him. No, it wasn’t a mere feeling—she was absolutely, 100% coming straight for him!
