Chapter 40: The Unexpected Encounter

As always, on her way to the magazine, Ye Qing’s hand was gently grasped by Gu Xuanyu.

In the cold winter, even a light breath would turn into white mist, swirling by her cheeks, much like the steam rising from Ye Qing’s flushed face.

“Xuanyu, I don’t like this…”

Hearing Ye Qing’s soft whisper, Gu Xuanyu’s heart softened, but she gripped Ye Qing’s delicate hand even tighter.

“It’s so cold out. I’m just worried you’ll catch a chill.”

Ye Qing sulkily turned her head away, hearing this obvious lie.

Troublemaker.

Before long, they arrived at the magazine office. People passing by frequently greeted Gu Xuanyu or nodded in acknowledgment.

Ye Qing was not surprised; the exquisite silver-haired girl was always so welcoming wherever she went.

But Ye Qing never imagined that she, too, would one day be complimented by a stranger.

“Gu Xuanyu, you’re here… Oh, what a cute girl! Is she your sister?”

Ye Qing thought she only needed to be a pretty accessory, but this editor seemed unusually interested in her.

“No, Su Sister, she is…”

“Sister.”

Ye Qing abruptly interrupted, her voice clear and concise, like raindrops tapping on a window, refreshing the soul.

The black-haired woman, known as Su Sister, instinctively covered her mouth, letting out a soft gasp.

“A sister? How unexpected…”

The woman repeatedly looked Ye Qing over, her affection plainly evident in her eyes, almost drowning Ye Qing in it.

No-talk, petite, delicate sister… Simply perfect, a masterpiece of nature!

A straight, long black hair should be zero, a sister should be beneath, a three-nothing system Loli should be teased until her face is red…

This is exactly what I want to see! Hehehe…

Seeming to notice her image was crumbling, the woman hesitated, coughed lightly twice, and casually adjusted her collar, her tone returning to normal.

“Sorry, I got a little carried away. I’m Gu Xuanyu’s editor, Su Su.”

Ye Qing blinked, confused.

Is she talking to me? Isn’t she supposed to be talking to her?

Out of politeness, Ye Qing still responded.

“Hello, I’m Ye Qing.”

For some reason, hearing Ye Qing’s cool voice, Su Su couldn’t help but smile.

Seeing this, Gu Xuanyu’s alarm bells rang, and she quickly shielded Ye Qing, her amber eyes fixed on Su Su with displeasure.

But Su Su… instead of backing down, she was even more excited.

Sister protecting her little sister, such sweet sugar, so cute!

“Gu Xuanyu, isn’t she the one you wrote about in your novel?”

Gu Xuanyu’s eyes narrowed slightly, still tightly protecting Ye Qing.

“Yes, that’s why I’m worried about the fox spirit…”

Hearing this, Su Su quickly waved her hand.

“Not what you think, I won’t have those thoughts… Cough, cough, anyway, let’s get to the main topic.”

Knowing that if the topic stayed on Ye Qing, the meeting might turn unpleasant, Su Su quickly changed the subject.

“I’ve finished reading the novel. So far, it’s good, but the emotional plot seems to be moving too slowly… I suggest you review the content again, and then we can discuss how to edit it.”

Gu Xuanyu hesitated, nodding. For some reason, she always felt that behind Su Su’s seemingly calm brown eyes was a fervent gaze.

It didn’t seem like an objective editor’s evaluation, but more like… a reader urging for more.

In fact, Su Su wasn’t urging for more; she was anticipating certain unprintable extras.

The delicate emotions have been savored, the main characters and their childhood friends are finally together, so when will they cuddle? When will they get married? When will they have their honeymoon?

I want to see it, I want to see it, I want to see it (rolling on the floor.jpg).

“Here, you two stay here for now, I’ll go handle other things. Call me when you’re done… Remember to consider how to advance the emotional plot.”

There was one more thing Su Su didn’t say.

— Hopefully, you can draw from real life.

Knowing that her presence would only bother them, Su Su found an excuse to leave, leaving the perfect private space of the office to Gu Xuanyu.

I can only help you to this point, the rest is up to you.

Seeing Su Su leave in a hurry, Gu Xuanyu looked a bit lost.

Wait, didn’t we finish explaining?

The door slammed shut, leaving only Ye Qing and Gu Xuanyu in the room, now in a rather intimate pose.

When Gu Xuanyu urgently protected Ye Qing, Ye Qing was already embarrassed and silent.

She could feel Gu Xuanyu pressing her body against her shoulder, silver hair falling on her ear, tickling her, making her more sensitive to touch.

Especially the girl’s full, elastic breasts, now pressed against her shoulder, bringing an incredible softness and a subtle thrill, even through several layers of fabric, making her blush uncontrollably.

“Can you let go now…”

Ye Qing’s voice was soft, almost a plea, her pretty face already hidden in her hair, like a ripe peach, tender and inviting, making one want to steal a kiss.

Gu Xuanyu also realized she had been a bit too affectionate, quickly letting go, her cheeks flushed, not daring to look into Ye Qing’s reproachful amber eyes.

After a long silence, it was Gu Xuanyu who finally broke the quiet.

“Ye Qing, do you want to see the book I wrote for you?”

Though the main character is herself, anyone can tell that the silver-haired girl in the book has always focused her gaze on her childhood friend.

Seeing Ye Qing nod gently, Gu Xuanyu took out her notebook and opened it in front of Ye Qing.

Though digital writing has become common, Gu Xuanyu still chose the most primitive method—handwriting, as the now magical girl was very fond of completing delicate tasks with her own hands.

Playing beautiful melodies, writing elegant words, everything, she wanted to experience over and over…

To others, it might be hard to understand, but if a blind person regained sight, she would surely use these eyes, a gift of miracle, to see everything in the world, even an ant on the roadside. Gu Xuanyu was the same.

Looking at her once elegant handwriting, Gu Xuanyu’s amber eyes held a hint of melancholy.

She naturally missed those skillful hands… but now, having Ye Qing by her side was enough.

As for what emotions she had when completing the writing, Gu Xuanyu couldn’t recall. At the same time she tore up her diary, the memories of the book also became hazy, which was why she longed to revisit the content with Ye Qing.

Vaguely remembering, she had retold everything from the diary in a more vivid, romantic, and dreamy tone.

In the story, the girls lived in a world of magic and miracles.

A silver-haired girl and a black-haired girl met under a tree.

The silver-haired girl had no hands, the black-haired girl didn’t like to talk.

The silver-haired girl was beautiful, like a Venus without arms, a creation that would make the goddess proud, but she had to rely on the black-haired girl’s kindness.

The black-haired girl still didn’t like to talk, like a silent tree, just quietly protecting the silver-haired girl in her branches, letting her bask in the golden sunlight.

Her kindness was like an unconditional gift, just quietly giving, without expecting anything in return.

So the silver-haired girl made a impulsive decision, she wanted to offer herself as a gift, giving everything she had to the black-haired girl.

On the day of the decision, the silver-haired girl found only a pair of skillful hands under the tree.

And the black-haired girl… disappeared forever.
