Join the ServerOutside the automatic folding gate, a common sight at nearly every school, lay the entrance to City No. 13 Middle School.
In this area, typically unfrequented by outsiders, an unusual trio had arrived: two individuals and a bear.
From within the guard booth, the seemingly aged but sharp-witted old man needed only a glance to confirm the identities of the first two arrivals.
Magical Girl Qing, Magical Girl Bai, and… a plush bear?
Hold on, even with Magical Girls leading the way, this seemed overly suspicious. Moreover, both of them appeared to be radiating an ominous aura!
The old man’s eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, darted back and forth across the trio’s faces. However, upon meeting the gazes of Shen Congqing and Gu Xuanyu, his own eyes flickered, unable to hold their intensity.
He then settled his unwavering stare on the plush bear, the last of the group.
“Stop, identity check.”
As the first two girls passed, Ye Qing, as expected, found herself halted. Through the cumbersome headpiece of her costume, she blankly met the old man’s gaze.
‘My disguise is flawless, without a single crack. I even have Magical Girls covering for me. How did you possibly notice something was amiss?!’
The old man let out a cold chuckle. He picked up a stick resembling a metal detector and began walking towards Ye Qing.
Often, relying solely on appearance for judgment proved unreliable. Otherwise, even evil cadres could infiltrate the Magical Girl Academy using their disguise abilities.
In such cases, a sensitive tool was essential for verification.
However, just as the old man was about to approach, Ye Qing suddenly offered a devilish smile, her lips curving upward a full ten degrees. Immediately, she presented the identification document provided by An Yueying.
Indeed, An Yueying had long since prepared various identities for her, including an undercover role within the CCB. This foresight was specifically for moments like these.
Though the sight of a plush bear nonchalantly flashing an ID seemed absurdly comical, it didn’t detract from her terrifyingly high authority. A single glance was enough to leave the old man stunned.
“A B-rank? And genuinely legitimate?”
Recalling the D-rank certification tucked into his own pocket, the old man dejectedly retreated back into the guard room.
Seeing this, Ye Qing contentedly retrieved her document, her suspicions now confirmed.
‘Perfect disguise’ was, of course, a jest. Her attire served only to protect her entire body, ensuring her appearance remained hidden from all eyes and preventing any future complications.
The guard’s retreat now validated what An Yueying had explained to her earlier: the CCB operated under an extremely rigid hierarchical structure.
Subordinates lacked the authority to question superiors, and reports could only be submitted to the immediate next-highest rank. Without explicit permission, no one was authorized to bypass their direct superior.
Within this organization, status superseded all else, with Magical Girls being the sole exception. This was because most Magical Girls, in principle, were not internal members of the CCB but rather their designated charges.
This system was reportedly implemented to facilitate coordination between Magical Girls and ordinary citizens.
In truth, most high-ranking CCB officials were renowned Magical Girls, with only a select few, like Duanmu Jin, being ordinary individuals.
The official explanation cited this system as a means to minimize information leaks regarding Magical Girls and enhance operational efficiency. As for the precise details, they remained unknown.
Regardless of any potential grey areas behind this, it currently proved advantageous for Ye Qing. An Yueying could even leverage this authority to disable the academy’s surveillance, effectively clearing their path.
As for how An Yueying managed this… she replaced the academy’s surveillance feed with a full terabyte of restricted videos. She certainly had an abundance of such material.
“Heh, the guy in the monitoring room must be passed out by now.”
Ye Qing had initially intended for An Yueying to accompany her to meet Silver Moon, but the latter had declined the suggestion.
According to An Yueying, she was merely an ordinary person. While being targeted by Silver Moon might not be a major concern, what if she accidentally caught a bullet and died? How would that be accounted for?
These words made Ye Qing flush with embarrassment; she had almost forgotten that An Yueying was also quite fragile. What if she didn’t fall into Silver Moon’s hands but instead found a gun pointed at her head?
Fortunately, with Gu Xuanyu’s assistance, her plush suit was now a magic-enhanced version. It was sufficient to defend against common firearms.
Thus, as planned, the trio boldly strolled through the main entrance of the Magical Girl Academy. They took a shortcut, heading directly for Silver Moon’s office.
It was, admittedly, almost too smooth. They encountered no obstacles until they reached the third floor, where the office was located. This couldn’t help but stir a flicker of suspicion in Ye Qing.
‘Could Silver Moon truly be so foolish? It’s unlikely she received no intelligence whatsoever. Or perhaps she was confident enough to remain passive?’
It was not that Silver Moon was foolish; rather, she found herself in a situation where she had no choice but to fight with her back against the wall.
The situation was even more ideal than Ye Qing had imagined. Silver Moon now had no time left for hesitation; she had to resolve these messy affairs before Duanmu Jin’s arrival.
She was unwilling to seek help from her benefactors behind the scenes. Her pride simply would not permit such an admission of defeat.
In any case, those individuals merely regarded her as an experimental subject, content to watch from the sidelines, ready to replace her once she was deemed obsolete. Did they want to get involved?
Only if she proved capable of threatening Su Yi.
In a sense, this could be considered her final dance—a clumsy, laughable one, unfortunately.
Silver Moon watched from behind the window as the trio made their way into the academy. She glared coldly at their retreating figures, as if disdainfully viewing insignificant ants.
Yet, her hand, resting on the armrest, had unconsciously clenched into a fist, trembling uncontrollably.
Her neatly trimmed fingernails pierced her palm, drawing forth a few drops of golden blood—a testament to her status as an experimental subject.
Not crimson blood like that of humans, but a golden liquid with suspicious components flowed within her veins. Such a being, it seemed, was destined never to be truly accepted.
Perhaps it was this very thought that led Silver Moon to stand alone here, taking such a perilous gamble.
As a tool herself, she had learned well to view and manipulate others as mere instruments. In her eyes, this was perfectly fair.
Fair, indeed. As things stood, no one seemed willing to regard her as human—save for the red-haired girl still absently flipping through a novel in the room.
Liu Qingruo’s eyes held an ethereal quality, their deep crimson depths reflecting the neat black text on white pages. She carefully pinched the corner of a page to turn it, fearful that the sweat on her fingertips might dampen the paper.
Yet, a profound bewilderment shone in her gaze, deepening with every line she read.
She could no longer comprehend the novel she herself had once written.
It was a work into which she had poured her heart and soul, one that had consumed countless days and nights…
“Silver Moon, could you have taken the wrong one? This doesn’t seem to be my novel…”
Silver Moon’s delicate brows furrowed as her thoughts were abruptly disrupted by the gentle call.
‘At a time like this, she’s still fretting over her wretched novel! What is there to even care about?’
However, turning to meet Liu Qingruo’s eager gaze, Silver Moon felt a peculiar pang of sorrow.
‘Why is she making demands of me? Doesn’t she understand how much I despise such things? Or does she truly believe I can still produce a ‘yellow’ book for her?’
Her golden eyes flickered, their intensity wavering. A moment later, a fleeting hint of tenderness softened them.
“Hmm, your book might have been left at my place. Once we’ve dealt with those troublesome individuals together, I’ll take you to find it, alright?”
Chi’s eyes brightened, and she nodded repeatedly. Seeing this, a rare, natural curve graced Silver Moon’s lips.
“Be a good girl, and everything will be fine… You will become the strongest Magical Girl, I promise.”
