Chapter 124: The Price of a Wish

“I don’t want to drink the medicine!”

The petite, black-haired girl, barefoot, darted around the room like an agile black cat. An Yueying followed leisurely behind her, a potion in hand, a playful smile gracing her lips.

‘Run, where could you possibly go?’

Ye Qing had fully recovered her lively spirit, a testament to the potion’s remarkable efficacy. However, this was only apparent when the potion itself was held.

Unbeknownst to Ye Qing, she had already absorbed a sufficient amount of the magical draught during her relentless fleeing and continuous aerobic exercise.

An Yueying’s potions never required consumption for absorption. The moment their lids were lifted, they would volatilize and disperse into the air, filling the entire room. Ye Qing had unknowingly absorbed it all.

Despite achieving her objective, An Yueying was in no rush to inform Ye Qing. Instead, she continued their amusing game of cat and mouse, intending to exhaust every last ounce of Ye Qing’s energy.

Presently, Ye Qing remained brimming with vitality, showing no signs of breathlessness. It was clear that the power of a Magical Girl had already begun to manifest within her.

“Alright, if you don’t want to drink it, then don’t.”

An Yueying, a soft smile playing on her lips, put away the potion. Ye Qing eyed her suspiciously for a few moments before finally relaxing.

She currently found herself in a mansion, the headquarters of the Tea Party. Flight had transported her there in mere hours, though Ye Qing remained oblivious to the journey, having quickly fallen asleep in An Yueying’s arms.

This unconsciousness was a lingering side effect of her condition.

“My mascot, Qing…”

“Don’t call me that.”

Ye Qing’s face crumpled into a disgruntled kitten-like expression. Yet, An Yueying, who adored stroking cats, unceremoniously ruffled the top of ‘Haki Qing’s’ head.

‘What should I call you then? My dear?’

‘You’re cheesy.’

Despite the blunt reply, An Yueying detected a hint of shyness in Ye Qing, and decisively settled on the term.

“Then… my dear, I regret to inform you that you’ve contracted a very serious illness.”

Ye Qing’s delicate brows furrowed. Initially, she thought An Yueying was joking, but a sense of unease quickly set in.

“Allow me to explain a little, starting from last night…”

After becoming a Magical Girl, Ye Qing had continuously maintained a state of magic release, essentially her “transformed state.” However, due to her weak pure magic, there was no noticeable external manifestation.

Unlike others, such as Nuonuo, who quickly learned to control their magic and wield it freely after becoming an Evil Executive, Ye Qing found herself unable to regulate it. This led to a rapid depletion of her magic until it was completely exhausted.

Once her magic was depleted, a Magical Girl would enter a weakened state, much like a phone automatically shutting down when its battery dies. This not only rendered her unconscious but also caused a degree of harm to her body.

Fortunately, her magic did not continue to dissipate during her slumber; otherwise, she might never have awakened.

She had slept for nearly twelve hours. During this time, An Yueying attempted to regulate Ye Qing’s body with potions, but the results were unsatisfactory.

The only viable solution was for Ye Qing to live in an environment saturated with the potion, just as she was now. This way, the pure magic she expended would be continuously replenished through her breathing, akin to playing with a device plugged into a power source.

In a sense, this was a magical affliction.

“Of course, it’s not entirely impossible to go out, but you must carry my magic supplement with you. The taste won’t be as bitter; how about we make it strawberry-flavored?”

Ye Qing remained silent for a long moment, then nodded.

‘There’s no reason to refuse, but I always feel uneasy, wondering what this wicked woman is plotting.’

‘She’s so good to me, yet I can’t do anything for her… What does she want?’

‘If this continues, won’t I have to offer myself to her? Or is that her true objective?’

‘But Ye Qing felt it was too harsh to always suspect An Yueying of malicious intent. What if she was a good woman beneath her evil facade?’

‘She must simply feel responsible for me, having dragged me into this evil organization. That must be it!’

“So, is there anything you need me to do?”

An Yueying smiled and shook her head.

“Don’t worry about anything else. This time, you were the greatest contributor… Speaking of which, there’s something on your end worth noting, isn’t there? If I recall correctly, Miss Ye Li is in Mozhou. Don’t you plan to go see her?”

Upon hearing this, Ye Qing’s pupils contracted, and she suddenly remembered her long-unseen younger sister.

‘I wonder how she’s doing now. I haven’t even saved enough for her wedding yet.’

“By the way, what exactly did you wish for? I examined your body, and even your blood type has changed. It’s safe to say that, apart from your appearance and name, you’re completely unrelated to your former self.”

Ye Qing let out a soft snort, unwilling to answer.

“Isn’t that the same thing? It’s just blood type… Wait, you said blood type?”

“Yes, you used to be O-type, but now you’re B-type. How is that not unbelievable?”

“That’s not ‘not unbelievable’ at all!”

Ye Qing’s lips parted in astonishment. After a long moment, a terrible possibility surfaced in her mind.

If she recalled correctly, both her father and mother were A-type blood, making it absolutely impossible for them to have a B-type child.

“Out of curiosity, I reviewed some of your past records.”

“And then I was surprised to find that you had vanished from those records, completely. Even your former high school homeroom teacher couldn’t remember you at all.”

Ye Qing’s eyelids twitched, and she lightly coughed twice.

‘Perhaps that’s because I have such little presence…’

‘At least for now, everyone around me still remembers me.’

“Do you know, my dear, that no database can find any information about you now? Even the student registration I arranged for you at Jinzhou University has vanished into thin air.”

Ye Qing scratched her head, feeling utterly helpless about this outcome.

‘Who would have thought that wish would be so powerful?’

“So, you should go back and check quickly, just in case something has happened.”

Ye Qing nodded. She absolutely had to verify some things as soon as possible.

‘Little Yu is still my biological sister, right…?’

Though she clung to a sliver of hope, An Yueying’s words had already led Ye Qing to guess the answer.

No matter what, even if something truly terrible had happened, she had to keep it a secret.

The nights in Mozhou were always cold, yet they never felt desolate. Beneath the icy neon lights, the towering buildings were perpetually alive with the joyous songs of the early evening.

Rather than relying on electrical heating, people seemed to prefer more primal methods, using the most intense entanglement to drive away the chill. Of course, they were quite disinclined to take responsibility for the aftermath.

To resolve such troubles, hypnosis services had emerged.

Along City North Avenue stood such a hypnosis house. He knew from the pure, quiet scene before its door, and the bird’s nest on its ridge, that the place had been abandoned for a long time.

Yet, at this moment, a slender, graceful silhouette with black hair unexpectedly graced its entrance.

Her name was Ye Yu, and she had just come of age today.
