Chapter 96: Ye Qing’s Dilemma

Just as Ye Qing was in a dilemma, her shoulder was gently tapped,

and then a soft body supported her, pressing against her back with the force of a sudden impact, causing her to stumble and nearly fall.

The unexpected shock made Ye Qing instinctively hang up the phone; her tense body didn’t dare move for a long time.

Even without turning around, Ye Qing could tell the identity of the person behind her by the silver strands gently brushing against her cheeks.

Next, a pair of fair, delicate hands caressed her neck, gently covering her eyes while subtly embracing her narrow shoulders with an arm.

“Guess who I am?”

The silver-haired girl deliberately lowered her voice, mimicking a grandma trying to trick Little Red Riding Hood, drawing out the words at the end.

After her eyes were covered, Ye Qing’s hearing and touch became unusually sensitive. She could clearly feel the silver-haired girl’s warm breath on her ear, her firm breasts pressing against her back, and a playful rubbing motion.

Ye Qing felt her cheeks flush with heat, her mouth dry and uncomfortable, making it hard for her to speak:

“Xuanyu?”

“Hehe, you guessed right! A big hug as a reward!”

Her vision was freed, and Ye Qing let out a slight sigh of relief, but soon she gasped in surprise again.

The girl said she would hug her, but Ye Qing found herself suspended in mid-air, her feet unable to touch the ground, causing her to flail nervously.

Even with her legs stretched out straight, she couldn’t reach the increasingly distant floor; the silver-haired girl had her waist wrapped in an embrace, lifting her effortlessly.

Ye Qing’s petite black-haired body was as light as ever, as if she were a small teddy bear being held. Only when Ye Qing blushed and couldn’t help but scold her did Gu Xuanyu reluctantly let her down.

Finally standing on solid ground again, Ye Qing felt dizzy, her legs weakened, and she had to lean against Gu Xuanyu to gradually recover.

Oh, right, Ye Qing, when you were on the phone just now, who were you talking to?

Gu Xuanyu suddenly asked this question that made Ye Qing feel guilty. Led by the sweet and gentle voice of the girl, Ye Qing had never found lying to be such a difficult task.

What worried her most was that magic girls often had extremely keen hearing; even from a few meters away, they might hear what she was saying. In other words, Xuanyu, did you eavesdrop?

Ye Qing’s usually calm and composed voice trembled as she cautiously asked back.

Xuanyu is a good girl; she definitely wouldn’t eavesdrop… would she?

Fortunately, things seemed to be as Ye Qing had hoped. Gu Xuanyu shook her head.

“No, that’s why I’m curious.”

Ye Qing breathed a sigh of relief.

“Um… actually, it was someone you don’t know…”

She nervously explained, trying to bluff her way through, but after hearing “someone you don’t know,” behind her back, where Ye Qing couldn’t see, Gu Xuanyu’s dark red eyes glinted with a hidden light.

“I also want to meet Ye Qing’s friends; tell me about them,”

Ye Qing’s slender waist was caught by the restless fingers of the silver-haired girl, making her feel as if her weakness was being grasped, unable to speak clearly, and her heart raced with anxiety.

“H-her name is…”

Ye Qing hesitated, unsure of how to begin.

Gu Xuanyu knew An Yueying and considered her a bad woman (in fact, Ye Qing had personally told her this). If Gu Xuanyu found out that she was still involved with the bad woman, she would surely be displeased.

Perhaps it was wishful thinking, but Ye Qing once hoped that Gu Xuanyu wouldn’t become a magic girl, and now it had turned into Gu Xuanyu not wanting her to have anything to do with the evil organization.

From Ye Qing’s perspective, neither of these was a good choice, but if she had to choose, she preferred being an evil officer.

This was largely due to the very bad impression Silver Moon had left in her heart. Even though Duanmu Jin seemed normal now, Ye Qing still couldn’t fully trust them.

On the other hand, An Yueying, despite her penchant for deception, never did anything harmful to Ye Qing.

An Yueying was always gentle with those around her, and though this might be a facade, it had become her true self.

Both gentle and lethal, like a carefully woven spider’s web, making people unknowingly succumb and willingly become her prey.

Ye Qing was a realist; she preferred to believe what she saw with her own eyes rather than be swayed by light, empty words.

Her first impression was one of cold arrogance and unrestrained behavior, whether it was when the group of special agents burst into her home or Silver Moon’s appalling actions—all undeniable evidence.

An Yueying was once a magic girl, embodying love and many admirable qualities, but she chose to deviate, willingly becoming an evil officer to avenge Silver Moon, which spoke volumes.

However, after meeting others, Ye Qing began to see things differently.

During the tea party, Luo Huayin once supported Lin Shaoyao, and the mysterious Qin Yuqian gave her a sense of danger rather than reliability.

Among the magic girls, aside from Gu Xuanyu, whether it was the ineffectual yet enthusiastic Liu Qingruo or the outwardly cold but inwardly warm Shen Congqing, Ye Qing felt a great deal of warmth.

But Silver Moon’s influence was simply too negative; Ye Qing still found it hard to trust her.

Besides, during her recent call with An Yueying, Ye Qing had sensed that she had subdued Luo Huayin, as if fate itself was urging her to leave the magic girl academy.

After much hesitation, Ye Qing decided to keep it a secret.

She didn’t want Gu Xuanyu to develop hostility toward An Yueying. There was already tension between magic girls and evil officers; adding a “rival in love” dynamic would only complicate things further.

“I was talking to Xiao Nuo on the phone, the blue-haired girl you’ve seen before…”

As Ye Qing described her, Gu Xuanyu responded softly, seeming a bit distracted. After a moment, she playfully pinched Ye Qing’s soft flesh at the waist and giggled.

“I know; she’s a new friend you made in college, right?”

Ye Qing blushed and glanced at Gu Xuanyu with a hint of resentment, secretly putting her mind at ease.

The familiar, lovely face showed no sign of abnormality, as if she were truly happy for Ye Qing’s new friend. She chattered on:

“By the way, Xiao Yi is someone I met after starting college too. I’ve read the books she wrote; they’re all about those things… Ye Qing, do you have that book in your bag right now? Tell me, how did you meet her?”

Caught off guard by the sensitive question, Ye Qing coughed lightly to hide her nervousness, but her eyes darted away involuntarily.

Could she really say that those things were actually taught by her?

Noticing Ye Qing’s expression, Gu Xuanyu maintained a gentle smile, her dark red eyes growing deeper.

Ye Qing is lying to me.

Clearly, the voice on the phone was Silver Moon, so why did she say it was someone I don’t know?

But I’m lying too.

Ye Qing, I’m more afraid of losing you than being constrained, just like the past three years.

Don’t worry, this time I won’t lose you again.
