Chapter 133: A Night Only You Will Remember

The bar was an old wooden structure. The stairs creaked with every step. Before the two of them even rounded the corner, someone upstairs had already noticed their presence.

This floor had even fewer people, each sitting alone at a table. They weren’t so much drinking as waiting for someone to arrive.

There were three tables by the window, but only the man in the corner had a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his lips.

He leaned back in his chair, legs crossed, unshaven and unkempt. His shabby brown coat was casually draped over the back of the chair, as if he wasn’t worried about pickpockets.

Hearing footsteps approach, Lao Mo didn’t bother with pleasantries. He casually waved his hand, indicating for the two to sit.

Ye Yu coughed lightly at the pungent smell of smoke, a hint of disgust on her face.

“Please put out the cigarette.”

Ye Qing sat down, blowing away the swirling smoke in front of her, making the demand without ceremony.

Hearing this, Lao Mo narrowed his eyes but made no move.

“If we’re just here to discuss business, it won’t take long. After you leave, am I supposed to light this half-cigarette again?”

Ye Qing stared at Lao Mo silently for a moment, then pulled a five-yuan note from her bag and placed it in front of the man.

“This covers your cigarette.”

Unexpectedly, Lao Mo gladly accepted the meager bill, carefully stubbed out the cigarette, and placed it back in its case.

“You’re quite savvy, miss.”

Despite the compliment, Ye Qing found it hard to be pleased—after all, she had lost five yuan.

Earlier, An Yueying had mentioned that Suizhou was full of misers who valued money above all else. She hadn’t expected it to be true.

“Are you the one handling the body?”

“That’s one of my services. The price depends on what I see.”

Hearing them discuss things so openly, Ye Yu felt at a loss for words, a strange unease settling in.

It was like she hadn’t even changed out of her school uniform before getting mixed up with thugs, discussing where to collect protection money today.

In truth, Ye Qing wasn’t familiar with this either, but she didn’t know any jargon, so she decided to be straightforward.

At worst, they’d think she was a greenhorn. But if they tried to cheat her on the price, she wouldn’t go easy.

This was a gray area. Getting into conflict with them wouldn’t give Ye Qing any guilt—in a way, they were an essential part of fueling crime.

But Ye Qing wouldn’t deliberately interfere. If it were Gu Xuanyu, she’d probably refuse to use their help and even openly oppose them.

That was why Ye Qing always felt that being a magical girl wasn’t for her. She didn’t have such a strong, pure sense of justice.

Compared to righteousness, she cared more about the people around her.

Leading Lao Mo outside the bar, she pushed the suitcase to a dark corner behind the building. Lao Mo deftly opened the suitcase and examined the corpse.

“Whoa, not bad. You’re quite capable.”

Lao Mo commented casually. Hearing this, Ye Qing pressed further.

“You know him, don’t you?”

“No comment. That question is another job.”

Lao Mo didn’t look too closely. After confirming the body was intact, he closed the suitcase.

“For this one, I can offer five thousand. What do you think?”

The price would eat up half of Ye Qing’s savings. The girl put on a stern face and entered bargaining mode.

“One thousand!”

Her mother had taught her to cut the price at the ankle to find the middle ground.

But hearing Ye Qing’s offer, Lao Mo made a strange expression, then tentatively asked,

“No backing out?”

Ye Qing was about to nod, but she wondered why Lao Mo was so agreeable.

Something’s fishy. The price could go even lower.

“Then five hundred. Final offer.”

Suburbs

Lao Mo stepped on the suitcase to secure it, then rummaged through the inner pocket of his coat. He pulled out seven hundred-yuan bills and handed them to Ye Qing.

“Keep the change. The extra is for packaging.”

Ye Qing took the seven hundred dumbly, baffled.

“Hey, isn’t this backwards…”

“Why are you giving me money?”

Lao Mo grinned, his tone teasing.

“Sure enough, a greenhorn. The body disposal business hasn’t made money from cleaning up in ages… Nowadays, we just flip the goods.”

“Huh?”

“Buy low, sell high. A sure profit. Easy to understand, right?”

Ye Qing blinked rapidly. It took a while to digest what Lao Mo meant.

So… people actually buy this stuff?

“Little girl, be sharper from now on. In our line of work, having some skills isn’t enough.”

Lao Mo cheerfully reached for a cigarette again, but remembering the five yuan from earlier, he thought better of it.

On the other hand, Ye Qing could only sulk at her own quick tongue.

Seriously, who would expect that? If I’d known, I’d have asked more clearly. What a profiteer!

Meanwhile, Ye Yu, who had been following Ye Qing all along, didn’t hesitate to activate the hypnosis audio.

What the profiteer said was right—she needed to be sharper. A clever mind was easy to find, but extraordinary methods weren’t something everyone had.

Hypnosis target: Mo Jinbao.

What a festive name. It sounds like a miser.

Ye Yu chuckled softly, waiting for the hypnosis to take effect.

Unfortunately, the hypnosis system only defaulted to protecting her, so Ye Qing, as an ally, was also hit.

Before Lao Mo realized what was happening, Ye Qing’s legs gave way and she started to fall backward. Ye Yu quickly stepped forward to support her.

But since hypnosis could be quickly followed by awakening to reduce its impact.

Seeing Ye Qing lose consciousness so fast, Ye Yu grew curious and checked Ye Qing’s panel again.

This time, there were many differences.

“Hypnosis target: Ye Qing

Affinity: 82%

Hypnosis level: 15%

Body hypnosis state: 20%

Mental hypnosis state: 10%

Hypnosis difficulty: Easy

Unlockable CG: ‘A Night Only You Will Remember’

Unlocked CG: ???

Executable functions: Awaken / Mental suggestion / Unlock CG”

The hypnosis difficulty had become easy, which explained why she fell asleep so quickly.

But what she cared about more was the CG part… How was that not something terrible? Seriously, she was suspected to be her own sister—how could she do something like that?

She definitely wouldn’t touch that…

“Unlock failed. Reason: Conditions not met (At home, target’s body hypnosis state exceeds 50%)”

Ye Yu rubbed her nose sheepishly and quickly dismissed the prompt, pretending she had never done it.

Seriously, who could resist pressing that? And she had guessed there would be conditions.

Perhaps driven by a sense of taboo, Ye Yu didn’t hesitate to awaken Ye Qing. At the same time, Lao Mo finally collapsed with a thud.

Seeing this, Ye Yu hurried over to Lao Mo for the next hypnosis function. Meanwhile, Ye Qing slowly regained consciousness and witnessed Ye Yu’s hypnosis process.

Ye Qing instinctively hid the fact that she was awake, wanting to see what Ye Yu would do.

“From now on, you are Ye Yu’s dog…”
