Chapter 113: A Dilemma and a Disagreement

Listening to that all-too-familiar gentle tone, Ye Qing’s small face flushed. She immediately thumped An Yueying’s shoulder, a blow that wasn’t light, yet clearly insufficient to cause the woman any harm.

“You sold me out!”

Ye Qing declared, indignation simmering in her voice. Seeing An Yueying maintain her usual unruffled expression, she delivered another thump to her shoulder, finally feeling a slight release of her frustration.

An Yueying wasn’t annoyed; she simply smiled and ruffled Ye Qing’s hair. Though the girl quickly brushed her hand away, her spirits remained high, delighting in Ye Qing’s exquisite face that clearly showed her discontent.

“But aren’t you perfectly fine? And haven’t I come to pick you up?”

Ye Qing quickly regained her composure. She subtly glanced around, suppressing the ripple of emotion in her voice.

“Forget it, we can talk about your pranks later. What are you doing here?”

An Yueying extended her pink tongue, slowly tracing a circle over her vermillion lips, as if savoring some earthly delicacy. Then, she uttered words that invariably gave Ye Qing a headache.

“I missed you. Is that not allowed?”

Ye Qing turned her face away in disdain. Now, she could freely unleash her sarcastic remarks.

“Ugh, so greasy.”

But An Yueying was no ordinary person; she wouldn’t react with the same devastated expression as a young girl like Gu Xuanyu. Her violet eyes still held a smile, brimming with an unknown intent as she quietly gazed at Ye Qing.

“Just speaking the truth.”

‘Oh.’

Ye Qing’s cheeks grew warm. She had no idea what schemes this wicked woman was brewing now, but those words genuinely left her flustered.

Even though she knew there was little truth in the wicked woman’s words, these statements, whose sincerity was impossible to gauge, always sounded unexpectedly pleasant, repeatedly leaving her feelings with no place to settle.

“Alright, enough with the nonsense. What exactly do you want to do here?”

An Yueying yearned to reply with a simple ‘Mhm,’ but considering this was not the occasion to continue her teasing, she decided to rein in her playful thoughts.

“Just giving you a heads-up. If you happen to really like it here, then there’s no need for me to wait for you anymore.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Qing pressed her lips together, lowering her head unconsciously to avoid the wicked woman’s gaze.

The issue she had consistently avoided confronting was finally laid bare before her.

‘To stay, or to leave?’

It was like being asked to choose between her father and mother during a divorce; no matter the answer, it would offend someone, and it was a question with no easy choice.

Truth be told, if An Yueying had merely treated her as a tool, like Silver Moon’s vile deception, then perhaps she could have remained at the Magical Girl Academy with a clear conscience.

But An Yueying had come, braving the risk of capture, which plunged Ye Qing into an inescapable dilemma.

“I don’t know.”

Ye Qing shook her head. At this moment, no matter who stood before her and posed that question, she could only offer the same reply.

“Don’t overthink it. I only know your intentions.”

An Yueying was uncharacteristically calm, her tone so ethereal, like a butterfly gently fluttering its wings, creating tiny ripples on the water’s surface.

‘Come to think of it, she rarely forced me to do anything. Even after realizing I’d been deceived by her, I didn’t feel regret, only a certain… annoyance?’

“Then wait a moment. I haven’t decided yet.”

Ye Qing could only reluctantly postpone her decision. She wouldn’t make a promise lightly, after all, she didn’t want to become a wicked woman like An Yueying.

‘Oh, by the way, Xiao Nuo and the Divination Princess are both accompanying the state.’

‘Completely different from what I imagined.’

Hearing An Yueying’s vague description, Ye Qing couldn’t help but frown.

‘Isn’t it just my hometown? Though I’ve never actually been there… It’s only a few hundred kilometers away. How different could it be?’

“You’ll only know the specifics once you get there. I can tell you only one thing—that place is under the jurisdiction of an evil organization~”

With that, An Yueying gently patted Ye Qing’s shoulder, then swiftly vanished into the crowd, leaving the black-haired girl still lost in her astonishment.

‘The territory of an evil organization… What does that mean? Does it imply that magical girls are the ostracized ones there?’

Just then, An Yingying, who had been ignored for a good while, finally found an opportunity to interject.

“Hey, are you done talking? If you’re done, you should properly apologize for your rude behavior just now. How dare you yell at me…”

Her thoughts interrupted, Ye Qing turned back with a hint of displeasure, facing the aggressive, unfamiliar purple-haired woman behind her.

‘Honestly, they truly don’t resemble each other at all. It’s all that wicked woman’s fault for making me prejudiced against purple.’

‘Purple hair, purple eyes, purple clothes, purple mood…’

“Oh, my apologies, I mistook you for someone else.”

Ye Qing’s short, cold statement instantly froze An Yingying in place. After a brief silence, she visibly broke.

‘You just came up and started babbling at me, and now you’re telling me you mistook me for someone else?’

‘You don’t know me, but I’d like to get to know you!’

“Wait, this isn’t over yet.”

Saying this, An Yingying reached out to grab Ye Qing’s wrist, but the latter deftly dodged her. It was An Yingying who, losing her balance, nearly stumbled.

Even Ye Qing was surprised. ‘When did my reaction speed become so quick?’

‘Magical girls are together, right?’

‘Damn it, it’s made me become a magical girl too.’

‘Come to think of it, I do have magic now, so in a sense, I can’t be considered an ordinary person either.’

“What else do you want? I’ve already apologized.”

Ye Qing stood with her hands on her hips, her eyebrows uneven as she glared at the purple-haired woman before her, whose cheeks were flushed with anger.

‘She looks like some pampered young lady, spoiled and overbearing. But I won’t indulge you. Don’t think everyone in the world is your mother!’

However, the other party’s next words quickly rendered Ye Qing speechless.

“You have no sincerity at all! Who are you putting on that stiff face for?”

An Yingying propped her hands on her chest, glaring at Ye Qing’s bland, almost rigid, small face.

‘When had she ever suffered such injustice?’

Ye Qing felt helpless. There was nothing she could do about this; her expressions weren’t rich, and she looked even dumber when she smiled. Could she really be blamed for that?

“Forget it, I’m in a hurry right now. If you still want to argue with me, just say so online.”

Ye Qing wasn’t concerned about this person. She simply gave her the phone number and then ran off into the set, leaving An Yingying somewhat bewildered.

An Yingying was still unaware that she would soon face some unforeseen changes due to the darkness within the An family.

***

Meanwhile, with just over ten minutes until the performance, Ye Qing, who had used the excuse of going to the restroom, finally returned to the group.

Feeling their gazes, Ye Qing couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat.

That excuse was truly too poor; it seemed to have already caused some negative impressions… But if one day something goes wrong with my body in that aspect, it will definitely be their fault!
