Wang Bing’s voice was softer and more feminine than expected, as if he was pinching his throat while speaking. It sent a shiver down one’s spine.
Ye Yu’s golden eyes turned cold, her delicate face covered in frost as she spoke calmly:
“You’re talking about my father?”
Wang Bing smiled and nodded, taking a light sip of coffee.
“Exactly. He was my mentor and father figure, my savior. I’ve been searching for his whereabouts all this time… So where is he now? I really want to know the answer.”
Ye Yu didn’t answer his question. Instead, she decisively insulted him.
“I don’t fully understand, but you sound like a shameless ingrate. Am I wrong?”
Meanwhile, her hand under the table was secretly operating a white phone, attempting to hypnotize Wang Bing using a hypnosis app.
[Target: Wang Bing]
[Hypnosis Difficulty: Hard]
[Available Action: Magic Hypnosis (Success Rate: 12%)]
‘Only twelve percent chance, but I’ll give it a try.’
Ye Yu quietly attempted it. Instantly, faint, semi-transparent magical probes materialized behind Wang Bing and silently pierced his neck.
The moment they entered, Wang Bing’s composed expression froze briefly, his eyes glazed over, but he quickly recovered, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
“Impressive. As expected of Master’s daughter. This is what he left you, isn’t it? You almost got me there.”
Seeing Wang Bing not only break free easily but also detect the hidden hypnotic attack, Ye Yu felt a jolt of alarm.
She knew that after entering the tower, she had hypnotized a witch to get here smoothly. Though the hypnosis on the witch didn’t last long, that somewhat dazed blue-haired loli never realized she had been hypnotized.
It was clear that Wang Bing, as the hypnotist of the Shuiyue Tower, was no fraud. His hypnosis skills far surpassed Ye Yu’s reliance on hypnosis, and his methods were likely numerous.
For instance, the fragrance permeating the environment, the tranquil and monotonous decor, and Wang Bing’s voice as soft as a feather—everything seemed to drag her consciousness into a quagmire of lethargy.
“But I can see, Miss Ye Yu, that you’re only a dabbler in hypnosis. Though you appear calm on the surface, you’re actually about to lose control.”
Ye Yu’s heart trembled slightly, and she became more alert.
[System, any situation?]
[No hypnotic attacks detected.]
But as Wang Bing’s words fell, Ye Yu inexplicably felt a wave of dizziness. She quickly used self-suggestion on herself and recovered.
‘I can’t let him deceive me into self-doubt. That would be cooperating with him to hypnotize myself.’
Yet just as Ye Yu warned herself, the increasingly obvious dizziness struck again, almost impossible to ignore, and even her body began to inexplicably heat up.
“Miss Ye Yu, it’s a pity. It seems Master Ye Feng never taught you anything about hypnosis. I didn’t expect you to fall for such a simple trick.”
Ye Yu forced herself to focus, staring at Wang Bing while cursing inwardly.
But the man still wore a spring-like smile, which, paired with his expensive gold-rimmed glasses, seemed especially sarcastic.
“In the first lesson he taught me, he mentioned that the most effective hypnosis often uses the simplest methods—like drugging.”
Ye Yu was startled and looked down.
In front of her was a cup of hypnotic black tea, but she certainly wouldn’t make such a simple mistake. She hadn’t touched it at all and had even deliberately closed the lid. So how had she been drugged?
‘Could it be the incense? But besides me, many others have been here—those witches and this bastard. Did they all deliberately take an antidote?’
“I know you’re confused, but the answer is simple: everyone here willingly accepts the airborne drugs and is even accustomed to them. But this is your first time here.”
Wang Bing suddenly stood up, a wild smile on his face.
“This place is a paradise prepared specifically for witches. So everything is arranged to maximize their desires. They’ve even added many things I don’t understand. Ordinary people simply can’t withstand its power.”
Ye Yu raised an eyebrow, finally understanding why she felt an unbearable itch.
“But do you know why I’m not afraid of these things and can even handle those witches? It’s all thanks to your master.”
Wang Bing’s already soft voice suddenly turned sharp. He slammed the table, staring at Ye Yu with hatred, yet it didn’t seem directed at her—rather, he was trying to find someone else’s shadow in her delicate features.
Ye Yu was startled, her breath ragged, and her mind cleared a bit.
Wang Bing’s shrill voice echoed in her mind, and a thought flashed through her like lightning.
“You don’t have a d*ck?”
Such a blunt and hurtful remark would make most people laugh it off, but Wang Bing’s face twitched, twisting his originally handsome features into a fierce and terrifying expression.
“You’re right. I’m f*cking impotent, all because of that old bastard Ye Feng!”
Wang Bing roared, his voice absorbed by the soundproof walls but almost seeping outside. It startled Ye Yu, who instinctively stood up and slapped him.
Different people react differently to being scared. Ye Yu was the type to lash out.
‘What are you yelling for in the middle of the night!’
After the ruthless slap, Wang Bing’s ears rang, his face burning with pain. It took a while for him to recover.
Ye Yu’s slap reminded him of Ye Feng. That man never laid a hand on him, but every hypocritical concern only made him feel more humiliated.
After a moment, he finally calmed down. He didn’t retaliate, and his voice returned to calm.
“Back then, I met Ye Feng after a car accident.”
That night, Wang Bing was in the family car when it collided with a dump truck. The others died on the spot. He alone, perhaps because of his small size, escaped fatal injury, but he was left partially paralyzed.
After that, Wang Bing had no family left. His remaining relatives only wanted to squeeze out the accident compensation and inheritance from a cripple.
When they visited his hospital room, their faces were plastered with fake smiles so insincere that Wang Bing wanted to vomit.
The only exception was the driver of the fully insured semi-trailer.
He was a man with short black hair, unremarkable in build and appearance. He had a silent demeanor that didn’t attract attention, but his amber eyes were worth noticing.
Every time he visited, hearing his deep voice, Wang Bing’s pain would inexplicably lessen.
Later, he learned that it was called hypnosis.
