Chapter 67: The Decapitation Strike and a Reckoning

Out of caution, Ye Qing repeatedly confirmed the situation with An Yueying. She then had Gu Xuanyu sweep the area for any hidden traps.

Only after circling the entire vicinity did she finally approach Silver Moon’s office door, her heart at ease.

She, however, was in no hurry. It was Silver Moon who grew impatient.

If they delayed any longer, Duanmu Jin might arrive first. Silver Moon grew so anxious that she several times felt the urge to rush out and confront the group lingering at her doorstep.

‘Dawdling at the door like that—were they flirting?’

In truth, even if she had done so, Ye Qing would likely have suspected her of secretly hiding Chi above the courtyard, waiting for their attention to be diverted before snatching her away, utterly defenseless.

Ye Qing knew well that she was the greatest vulnerability. If she were captured, the entire decapitation strike would fail, transforming into a “reverse decapitation.”

Though Gu Xuanyu and Shen Congqing had repeatedly assured her of their priority to protect her from harm, Ye Qing refused to be a burden. She intended to utilize her intelligence while she still could.

‘Hmph. Later, when they could ignore surprise attacks and face the battle with peace of mind, it would all be thanks to me.’

After a brief pause at the door, Ye Qing hid behind Gu Xuanyu. Her small hand unconsciously rested on Gu Xuanyu’s slender waist, a waist that could be spanned by a single hand.

This caused the silver-haired girl’s pretty face to flush crimson.

“Ye Qing, that’s a sensitive spot. Please don’t touch it carelessly…”

Hearing the girl’s shy voice, Shen Congqing let out a soft ‘tsk.’ Then, without further ado, she pushed open the door.

Upon seeing Silver Moon’s flawless face again, a face veiled by a lover’s filter, Shen Congqing still couldn’t help but feel a moment of trance. Yet, in an instant, her emerald eyes sharpened once more.

‘This was no time to be lost in thought.’

The white-haired girl appeared as calm and submissive as ever, but a subtle hint of provocation emanated from her seemingly condescending gaze. This quickly dispelled any lingering distractions in Shen Congqing’s mind.

‘Regardless, her false gentleness was a thing of the past.’

“How imperious you are, Silver Moon. There’s no need for further words now. Let’s get straight to the point.”

Shen Congqing lightly brushed dust from her knuckles and slowly advanced towards Silver Moon. However, she halted about a meter away.

The red-haired girl, who had been standing idly by, had instantly moved to shield Silver Moon the moment Shen Congqing displayed hostility.

Chi’s eyelids were lowered. Her once clear, round, bright red pupils were now clouded with a murky darkness. She glared at Shen Congqing with ill intent.

Unbeknownst to anyone, her fists were already clenched within her spiked gauntlets. Flaming patterns across her body pulsed with waves of scorching magical energy.

The moment Chi’s magic locked onto her, Shen Congqing felt a brief tremor in her heart. She instinctively activated her transformation. A flash of white light appeared and vanished.

The fading radiance carried away some of the intense heat, but the entire room remained engulfed in scorching heat.

Relying on her greatsword, Qing finally felt the pressure on her body ease. However, seeing Chi’s vacant eyes, she couldn’t help but hesitate.

“Chi, snap out of it. We are not your enemies…”

“Hmph. I won’t believe the lies of an evil organization.”

Speaking coldly in a delicate, girlish voice, Chi raised her fists, adopting a striking stance. Her fiery red hair moved without a breeze, spreading boldly behind her.

Seeing this, Gu Xuanyu gently patted Ye Qing’s shoulder and glanced back at her with a smile. Immediately afterward, she too was enveloped in a sacred white light.

A refreshing, gentle magical energy instantly filled the entire room, cleansing away the unsettling sparks and scorching waves of heat.

Ye Qing stared blankly into Gu Xuanyu’s intoxicating wine-red eyes. Only after a long moment did she regain her senses and realize that her entire body was now bathed in a warmth akin to the rising sun.

The silver-haired girl was now clad in a pristine, elegant white military uniform. Her attire was so simple that it seemed devoid of any superfluous adornments.

However, on her cap’s brim, within an emblem encircled by golden wheat ears, was emblazoned a black cat with amber eyes. It was as lively and adorable as the black-haired girl who hid inside a teddy bear.

The form-fitting uniform perfectly accentuated the silver-haired girl’s graceful figure. It highlighted her curvaceous form without appearing vulgar.

Instead, it gave an impression of stunning elegance, like a startled swan.

The magical weapon held by the silver-haired girl was a gleaming silver saber. Under the flickering firelight, it shone with exceptional brilliance.

Its blade, adorned with a layer of semi-transparent shark-tooth serrations, sliced through the air, as if poised to stir up a raging tempest crashing against the shore.

She lightly twirled the saber’s tip, executing a fluid flourish. It seemed she was somewhat nostalgic for the effortless feel of wielding it.

The silver saber felt weightless in her grip. With a mere flick, it produced a shrill sound as it ripped through the air.

Like a girl proudly showing off a perfect score to her older sister, she playfully glanced at Ye Qing, her beautiful eyes curving slightly. Then, abruptly, her expression turned cold.

Her gaze pierced past Chi’s obstruction, fixing directly on Silver Moon, who stood concealed behind her.

Just like her blade, her words were sharp and concise.

“Silver Moon, it’s time for reckoning.”

The voice, clear and cold as water, echoed through the room and reached Silver Moon’s ears. Yet, despite the implied threat, Silver Moon merely sneered, showing no sign of fear.

“Hmph. I have nothing more to say to you all. Chi, move quickly.”

The next moment, Chi, wielding her fists blazing with fierce flames, charged towards Qing. She struck the latter’s massive greatsword with a heavy blow, sending dazzling sparks erupting within the confined space.

Gu Xuanyu did not stand idly by. Seeing Qing quickly losing ground in the struggle, she swiftly intervened, slashing her saber directly at Silver Moon.

She had no desire to harm Chi, and frankly, she found that white-haired scoundrel quite irritating.

However, Chi’s reaction was incredibly swift. Almost the instant Gu Xuanyu moved, Chi flashed back to shield Silver Moon. She effortlessly parried the saber strike.

And gripped the blade firmly in one hand, preventing it from advancing even an inch.

This astonishing strength startled Gu Xuanyu. While she rarely had opportunities for actual combat, she had frequently sparred with Chi, always emerging victorious with ease.

She knew Chi’s capabilities intimately.

‘Even if my own strength couldn’t be fully unleashed through this new medium, this outcome shouldn’t be possible. Was this “purification” truly so formidable?’

Fortunately, Qing quickly regrouped. She, too, intended to bypass Chi and attack Silver Moon. However, the red-haired girl simply used her free hand to block Qing’s sword blade as well.

Fighting two opponents, she showed no sign of being at a disadvantage.

During this stalemate, Silver Moon, with a triumphant air, engaged Ye Qing in their long-awaited conversation.

“Long time no see, Ye Qing. I never expected to hear your name again… It’s quite surprising.”

Ye Qing bit her lower lip with her pearly teeth. Between her lips, her clenched silver teeth were faintly visible.

“You tampered with me a long time ago, didn’t you?”

Silver Moon neither confirmed nor denied it. She merely continued speaking in a bland tone.

“You could have lived out the rest of your life peacefully, a fortunate, protected lamb. You are one of the few ordinary people to have encountered miracles.

The fact that you still retain memories of Gu Xuanyu is truly surprising to me…”

As if recalling something, Silver Moon shifted her topic, continuing to explain in a flat, even tone. Her uninflected voice greatly annoyed Ye Qing.

“Speaking of which, you should thank me. If I hadn’t separated you from the entanglement of Gu Xuanyu’s reckless wish, you might now be her little pet, completely at her mercy.”
