Join the ServerAfter exchanging contact information, Ye Qing suddenly recalled something as she gazed at Qin Yuqian’s familiar face. ‘Hey, why did you look for me?’ she asked, her tone laced with confusion.
Qin Yuqian hesitated for a moment, realizing the purpose of her visit. ‘Oh, right. I was planning to test her… for my friend, partner, and rival.’
She quickly regained her composure and replied coolly, ‘It’s nothing. I just have some concerns about you. You know the rumors about you in the academy are pretty bad.’
Ye Qing looked puzzled. ‘What rumors?’
Qin Yuqian continued, ‘There are whispers that you might be from an evil organization.’
Ye Qing’s heart skipped a beat, but she maintained a calm facade. ‘Huh?’
Qin Yuqian sighed softly, ‘Whether it’s true or false, many people believe it. It’s not just about you; it’s affecting Gu Xuanyu as well.’
Ye Qing’s pupils constricted slightly as she listened intently.
Qin Yuqian went on, ‘I now have a basic understanding of pure magical energy, and I didn’t detect any in you.
This means your chances of becoming a magical girl are slim to none… So, think carefully. If you stay, you might become more of a burden than an asset to her.’
Leaning in close, Qin Yuqian whispered, ‘If you don’t belong here, I can help you leave. Let me know when you’ve made your decision.’
Before Ye Qing could fully process the words, the black-haired girl vanished, her steps light and soundless.
Mysterious
Meanwhile, Shen Congqing frowned, her brows knitted together. She hadn’t caught a single word of Qin Yuqian’s whisper to Ye Qing, which was unusual given the proximity. ‘What did she say to you?’ Shen Congqing asked directly.
Despite knowing some details, Ye Qing decided to keep it to herself. ‘She just told me to take care of myself.’
Her lie was seamless, especially with her serious expression. Shen Congqing grumbled, pulling at Ye Qing’s neatly arranged hair. ‘Here we are, supposed to be training to become magical girls, and all we do is plot and scheme. I don’t get it… what are they teaching us here?’
Ye Qing’s thoughts raced, and she decided to ask Gu Xuanyu about the situation during their break.
After a brief rest, a few dull magic theory classes followed. Ye Qing tried to pay attention but quickly lost interest, opting to daydream instead. Many students noticed her indifference and exchanged strange looks.
They couldn’t fathom why someone would waste such a precious opportunity by not taking the classes seriously.
A rustling sound, like mice scurrying, echoed through the room. ‘I wish I had a magical girl as a girlfriend.’
‘Shh, don’t let anyone hear you. And that golden-haired girl is even worse.’
Following the glance of one of the students, they saw Shen Congqing asleep at her desk, which drew a few smirking reactions.
They all felt the weight of expectations from family and friends, driving them since childhood to become magical girls.
Even those who made it into the academy were always on edge.
Meanwhile, two transfer students who clearly had connections acted carefree and relaxed, as if they were college students without a worry in the world. This disparity was infuriating.
As the morning classes ended, the bell rang, and Shen Congqing, who had been lying on her desk, suddenly lifted her head. Her sleepy eyes quickly cleared, and she tugged Ye Qing towards the cafeteria, leaving the others bewildered.
As they walked, Shen Congqing noticed Ye Qing pausing. ‘What is it?’ she asked, turning back.
Ye Qing was staring towards the dormitory. ‘I want to see Xuanyu. You go ahead.’
Although Shen Congqing still held Ye Qing’s hand, she felt a sudden emptiness. ‘Is it urgent?’
Ye Qing shook her head. ‘I just want to see her.’
Shen Congqing was at a loss for words, unable to find a reason to object, yet unwilling to let go. After a moment, she reached out and lightly tapped Ye Qing’s forehead with her knuckles.
‘You silly thing, skipping meals will make you dizzy. I’ll bring you something later.’
Ye Qing rubbed her forehead, startled by the gesture. Seeing Shen Congqing’s awkward expression, she smiled brightly, a rare sight that was captivating. ‘I’ll wait for you.’
Yeah, I’ll wait for you in the dorm… Shen Congqing.
Entering the dorm, Ye Qing found the familiar silver-haired girl just returning. She was lounging in her chair, stretching leisurely.
Her lips were a vibrant red, suggesting she had applied light makeup, which enhanced her already striking features. Her hair, however, was casually tied back, presumably for comfort.
‘Ye Qing, you came at the perfect time. I’m so tired from this morning.’
Met Xuanyu rushed over and hugged Ye Qing tightly, drawing in her energy. Exhausted from her recent activities, she had been forced to participate in a performance for her comeback, which was draining.
Ye Qing blushed and struggled slightly before surrendering to the embrace. After a moment, she pushed Met Xuanyu away gently. ‘Enough playing around. I have something to ask you.’
She met Met Xuanyu’s gaze, her expression serious. ‘Do you know Qin Yuqian? Who is she?’
The question caught Met Xuanyu off guard, her wine-red eyes widening in surprise. ‘She was my partner. What happened? Did she say anything inappropriate to you?’
When Ye Qing shook her head, Met Xuanyu relaxed slightly but still seemed conflicted. She fidgeted with her sleeves, pondering how to explain.
For Met Xuanyu, Qin Yuqian was a rare and special presence. After regaining her memories, this specialness had evolved into a complex emotion.
Qin Yuqian and Ye Qing shared a striking resemblance, and Met Xuanyu’s ability to recover her magical girl powers was partially linked to Qin Yuqian’s original manuscript.
This similarity had allowed Met Xuanyu, despite the flawed memory alteration by Silver Moon, to first notice something was amiss.
In my memories, she had black hair and never forced me to do things I didn’t want to.
