Chapter 108: The Sleeping Beauty Script

From behind, Ye Qing feigned composure, attempting to meet Gu Xuanyu’s gaze. Yet, in less than half a second, her almond-shaped eyes, brimming with guilt, faltered, darting nervously from side to side.

This wasn’t the first time the little black cat, so inept at concealing her thoughts from her childhood friend, had found herself cornered in an unavoidable predicament.

Now, however, there was something far more troublesome she needed to keep hidden.

Even though Gu Xuanyu was one of the performers and would eventually see the final script, she absolutely couldn’t see this current version—not a single word. Otherwise, Ye Qing couldn’t imagine how furious she might become.

After a moment of contemplation, Ye Qing decided to be honest.

“Xiao Chi showed this to me. You can’t look at it.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xuanyu raised a delicate brow, then offered a helpless smile.

“Alright then, I won’t look… But if I’m not mistaken, this is the script for the performance in a few days, isn’t it? I saw Xiao Chi working on it for ages.”

‘Her guess is quite accurate,’ Ye Qing thought. ‘I just hope she doesn’t guess the content.’

Carefully, Ye Qing slid the notebook from beneath her, placing it on the bedside table. She pondered how best to revise it.

‘Judging by the current trajectory, relying on Liu Qingruo to write it herself is utterly unreliable. That girl’s head is full of mischievous ideas.

How can a smut novel be the same as a Magical Girl performance? How could she directly apply what I taught her into this? No, I’d better revise it myself.’

Gu Xuanyu was, in truth, the most suitable person to help with editing and suggestions. However, anything she wrote would likely fail to satisfy Liu Qingruo.

As for Shen Congqing, Ye Qing dismissed the thought; she wasn’t suited for plot considerations.

Ye Qing rubbed her eyes as she pulled her clothes on, finally concealing her delicate, half-exposed figure. This ensured Gu Xuanyu’s gaze would no longer linger solely on her.

Just as Ye Qing wrestled with how to revise the script, Gu Xuanyu, as if reading her mind, offered a suggestion.

“Ye Qing, although you’ve drawn many… illustrations, you’re still relatively unfamiliar with scripts, aren’t you? If that’s the case, you could try referencing some classic stories.

Since it’s a Magical Girl performance, you could consider drawing inspiration from fairy tales like Cinderella or Snow White.”

‘After all, it’s primarily for children. The existing content for scripts is largely the same, but Liu Qingruo’s meddling transformed it directly from a five to an eighteen, making it completely unsuitable for public display.’

‘And that girl hasn’t forgotten; she was just so engrossed in her own comfort while writing the script that she completely overlooked this detail.’

‘Hmph, I should find a simple, popular hero-versus-dragon script. Ideally, one with some beautiful girl elements…’ Ye Qing mused, gently poking the red-haired girl who was sound asleep.

Liu Qingruo’s cherry-pink lips were still slightly parted, as if ready to drool at any moment. Ye Qing couldn’t help but wonder if her tender, tofu-like complexion was nourished in this very way.

With a single poke of her fingertip, Ye Qing found herself immersed in the soft, yielding sensation. She couldn’t resist kneading it, shaping it like dough in various forms.

‘Mmm, she sleeps so soundly, nothing can wake her up. It’s like—’

As Ye Qing gazed at the girl’s serene sleeping face, a flash of inspiration, like an electric current, surged through her mind.

Sleeping Beauty!

‘Yes! I just need to make a few changes. I’ll play an executive of an evil organization who kidnaps and curses her. Gu Xuanyu can be Magical Girl Bai, who guides and accompanies the hero, and also the narrator.

And Shen Congqing will be Magical Girl Qing, who bravely infiltrates the evil organization.’

‘This arrangement isn’t because I believe Gu Xuanyu lacks the charisma to be a protagonist. The key is that her qualities are better suited for a rational, elegant image.

A Magical Girl who battles with a greatsword, like Shen Congqing, clearly isn’t suitable for the role of a ‘sage.”

‘As for the awakening part, it can be changed to the Magical Girls breaking the curse on Magical Girl Chi through the power of their friendship and bonds, defeating the despicable evil organization—just like Shen Congqing saving Liu Qingruo, along with the others… Even if Liu Qingruo were willing, the others…’

‘Good, I really am a genius! That’s how it’ll be!’

With that thought, Ye Qing immediately pulled out a pen and began rewriting Liu Qingruo’s script.

By the time Liu Qingruo awoke, it was already evening. On the bedside table, Ye Qing had left a meal specifically for her, and it seemed the aroma of the food was what had stirred her awake.

From the drool at the corners of her mouth and her earlier instant noodle antics, it was clear that this red-haired girl was an absolute glutton, possessing little resistance to delicious food—much like Ye Qing’s weakness for sweets.

Sniffing the enticing aroma, Liu Qingruo instantly sobered up considerably, sitting bolt upright in bed. Then, she made an awkward eye contact with the few people by her bedside.

“Uh… why are you all looking at me? Is there something on my face…?”

Liu Qingruo, blushing, instinctively covered her chest with her hands. Her gaze swept across their faces. Besides Ye Qing and two other team members, Duanmu Jin was also there, looking concerned for her.

Duanmu Jin, not being a Magical Girl, wasn’t fully aware of Liu Qingruo’s specific condition. Although Liu Qingruo hadn’t told her about losing her appetite, her sleep had become quite erratic, leaving Duanmu Jin worried.

Seeing her awaken with such vitality, Duanmu Jin finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“It’s good that she’s just sleeping. Perhaps it’s just a mild after-effect of purification…”

Compared to Fading Star, Liu Qingruo’s situation was quite remarkable, even comfortable.

It was important to remember that the grey-haired girl had almost completely lost her appetite, requiring someone to painstakingly hand-feed her tiny bits just to get her to eat with difficulty.

Liu Qingruo’s ability to eat and drink was far less severe by comparison.

“By the way, Xiao Chi, have you felt yourself losing any emotions? Especially regarding desire… Although desire is the root cause of dark magic, it’s also very important for Magical Girls.”

Before becoming Magical Girls, these girls existed as humans. As humans, they inevitably possessed desires and needed to rely on such emotions to live; it was indispensable.

Silver Moon’s actions were tantamount to denying their needs and rights as humans, treating them entirely as tools for battle—an outrageously excessive approach.

Therefore, An Yueying was now forcibly stimulating various emotions Silver Moon disdained, cultivating them within her at hundreds of times the normal rate.

She intended to make Silver Moon fully understand that she was not a rational intelligent entity, but a puppet driven by emotions.

Feeling pain would evoke fear; provocation would ignite desire. Only an existence nearing absolute rationality could ignore such things.

Silver Moon once prided herself on being rational, and An Yueying intended to make her realize that she was even less than an ordinary person.

“I… I don’t feel anything, really.”

Liu Qingruo actually wanted to be honest, but such matters were too difficult to voice. Moreover, she couldn’t imagine what method Duanmu Jin might devise to help her, so she simply avoided the awkward topic.

“Oh, right, my script! Ye Qing, have you read my script?”

Ye Qing was currently proofreading the revised script, and her expression seemed quite satisfied.

“I’ve read it. Directly rejected. I revised it for you. This should work.”

Upon hearing this, Liu Qingruo’s eyes lit up, and she quickly took the script.

‘Revised personally by Teacher Qingyu, it must be perfect beyond perfect…’

“Eh? Teacher Qingyu, this, this…”

Liu Qingruo repeatedly scanned the script but couldn’t find a single piece of content suitable for anyone over eighteen. She was so flustered she couldn’t speak.

“Bland and tasteless, right?”

Ye Qing finished her sentence, then gently flicked the red-haired girl’s forehead.

“But how could something like that be shown to children? You just honestly go and play Sleeping Beauty!”
