Chapter 146: Outburst of Flames

As soon as the words were spoken, the one who panicked first wasn’t the manager, but Liu Qingruo.

The perfectly fine small goal had suddenly shattered into pieces. It felt like finally winning the lottery, only to tear the winning ticket in a moment of excitement. Her mood plummeted to rock bottom.

“My prize!”

She crouched on the ground, crying, trying to gather the chips that had crumbled like sand. But the more she pressed, the more they slipped through her fingers, vanishing into the carpet within moments.

The manager was equally stunned. The chips were genuine—there was no way they could have such a defect, let alone shatter so bizarrely.

That girl must have swapped the chips somehow!

“Miss, although it’s rude to say this, I must remind you that our venue is equipped with high-speed cameras…”

“You even have video spy-cam!”

The terrible wording made the manager’s face twitch. Even with his composure, dealing with such antics was hard.

Damn it, where did this wretched woman come from, plotting her tricks again…

The manager cleared his throat, regaining his calm.

“This is also to protect the rights of our guests, preventing any ill-intentioned individuals from causing trouble.”

Though he said this, the implication of “ill-intentioned” clearly pointed at Mo Yinling. But for her, such remarks couldn’t shake her in the slightest.

“Fine then, go ahead and check. What if I didn’t cheat?”

“If you didn’t, we will provide appropriate compensation.”

That’s what he said, but the manager knew full well that this woman must have cheated. Even if she was subtle, he could find a suitable excuse to deal with her.

After a moment, a message came through the manager’s earpiece.

“No obvious anomaly, Manager. We checked frame by frame.”

Hearing this, the manager frowned slightly, his gaze lingering on Mo Yinling’s face for a moment before he spoke in a low voice:

“Then can’t you add some anomaly yourself?”

The man on the other end shuddered and quickly complied.

Within minutes, someone handed over a tablet, displaying the fabricated evidence.

The manager smiled faintly, playing the content on the tablet for everyone to see.

In the footage, just as Liu Qingruo was pulling out the chips, Mo Yinling’s hand twitched unnaturally, as if swapping something she had prepared with what Liu Qingruo held.

The image was blurry, but it was sufficient as a trumped-up charge. After all, here, right and wrong were theirs to decide.

“Tch, don’t fool me with that. Can’t videos be Photoshopped?”

Mo Yinling sneered, seeing through the truth. She slammed the table and said aggressively:

“I don’t want to waste time with a liar like you. I want to see your boss!”

The manager paid her no heed. Just as he was about to continue using the fake evidence, Liu Qingruo suddenly couldn’t hold back. She grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up like a chicken.

Now, her body was covered in a faint layer of crimson flames, the fire tongues darting wildly, scorching the air.

No one had expected this. Without any warning, the quiet red-haired girl erupted in rage and struck out boldly.

Mo Yinling was stunned. She hadn’t expected Liu Qingruo to lose control like this. It wasn’t just emotional—her powers were berserking too. She had seen this condition in certain magical girls.

It seemed to be the aftermath of some forbidden enhancement, making their magic fiercer and purer, boosting their combat power beyond reason, but causing emotional instability.

Just like now.

“So, where are my chips?”

Liu Qingruo wasn’t gritting her teeth as one might imagine, but was eerily calm. Yet anyone could tell this was the calm before the storm—her rage held in check to the utmost.

More than the threat in her voice, what terrified the manager was the small, pale hand gripping his collar like a vice, transmitting searing heat through the fabric.

His chest burned with intense pain, making him cry out in agony, but only broken syllables escaped his throat.

The two men in black weren’t idle, either. They moved to seize Liu Qingruo, but the moment their hands touched her body, the furnace-like heat forced them to let go.

Soon, someone recognized her by her distinctive silver magic.

“An Apostle! An Apostle is attacking us!”

At those words, the hall erupted into chaos, as if facing a natural disaster. Everyone rushed toward the exits without a second thought.

Seeing this, Ye Qing’s heart tightened, and she quickly warned:

“Xiao Chi, don’t act rashly. They’re all ordinary people…”

But Liu Qingruo didn’t listen. She was still fuming, her grip on the manager’s collar ironclad.

“I hate two-faced liars the most. Do you know that?”

Hearing this, Ye Qing was secretly alarmed. Wasn’t she talking about Yinjin?

Sure enough, she had never forgotten that incident; she simply kept many things bottled up inside.

The manager struggled to speak, trying to pry Liu Qingruo’s hands off, but it was futile. The heat in his chest had spread, as if a giant shark was devouring him.

Just as his consciousness began to fade, a cool sensation descended without warning, releasing him from the pain.

“How dare you come here so openly! Wretched Apostle, what do you have to say for yourself?”

A somewhat childish girl’s voice rang in their ears, drawing everyone’s attention.

It was a petite girl with ink-blue hair—or rather, a loli, because she was even shorter than Ye Qing, her voice softer and sweeter.

She had already snatched the poor manager from Liu Qingruo’s hands.

Her small frame holding a man much taller than her looked quite comical, but the blue glow radiating from her body completely neutralized Liu Qingruo’s flames, commanding respect.

“I won a big prize on your slot machine, but he lied, saying it was a machine malfunction, and even gave me fake chips!”

Surprisingly, Liu Qingruo argued with her seriously.

Hearing this, the blue-haired loli scratched her head, then thumped the manager’s head.

“Hey, is she telling the truth or not?”

The manager was unconscious and didn’t answer.

Seeing this, the blue-haired loli sighed, her tone softening.

“Since that’s the case, if he really cheated you, then I, Clear Soup Magistrate, will give you justice. But you trashed my place—if you’re lying, I’ll make you pay!”
