Liu Qingruo, however, couldn’t bring herself to say it outright. Despite appearing bold and uninhibited in Ye Qing’s eyes, she harbored her own delicate intentions.
She wished not to leave a negative impression on Ye Qing, yet she yearned to draw closer.
However, Liu Qingruo was inherently shy. Unable to act directly, she could only attempt to entice…
“Thank you, Xiao Chi. You’re truly wonderful.”
In moments of sorrow, few things possessed the same comforting power as frosting, chocolate, and cake.
Ye Qing abruptly grasped Liu Qingruo’s hand, lifting it to her chest, her eyes sparkling with delight.
The red-haired girl was startled.
A moment later, Liu Qingruo swiftly pulled her hand away, her gaze flitting about, unsure where to settle.
“It’s nothing, eheh…”
Liu Qingruo’s hands unconsciously retreated behind her back, her delicate knuckles rubbing together, as if savoring the lingering sensation of their touch.
“Xiao Chi, have you eaten yet?”
Liu Qingruo nodded blankly, then watched as the black-haired girl suddenly smiled.
“Then I’ll just unceremoniously eat it all myself, won’t I?”
The girl’s smile was so rare; or rather, Liu Qingruo had never seen Ye Qing smile so naturally. The curve of her lips was unforced, and through the slight parting, her adorable little canine teeth were faintly visible.
This was different, though she couldn’t pinpoint why.
Liu Qingruo blinked rapidly, then averted her gaze.
She was even more dazzling now, like a Magical Girl.
To Liu Qingruo, Magical Girls were the epitome of ‘dazzling brilliance.’
They were like protagonists in a story, almost constantly under the spotlight, every action seemingly worthy of attention.
Ye Qing, in this moment, was precisely that captivating, even more so than any other Magical Girl Liu Qingruo had encountered.
Meanwhile, the black-haired girl paid no mind to Liu Qingruo’s strange reaction. She simply sat at the table, quickly tearing open the cake box.
Though she had undergone the contract, she was currently only a novice Magical Girl, neither understanding her abilities nor having adapted to the sudden surge in her pure magical power.
She hadn’t even realized how light and ethereal her footsteps had become as she walked down the corridor.
She had merely heard Liu Qingruo’s movements, then noticed a playful strand of the girl’s crimson hair peeking out from the doorframe, instinctively quickening her pace toward it.
Her speed might not have been remarkable, but it had genuinely startled Liu Qingruo. This was a facet of her ability—
Unable to be targeted.
This was also the outcome her wish desired: to not implicate anyone.
However, Ye Qing hadn’t become invisible because of it. On the contrary, her presence in the eyes of those who *could* ‘notice’ her had grown stronger, so much so that Liu Qingruo couldn’t help but repeatedly glance her way.
“Teacher Qingyu, is there something different about you today?”
Ye Qing stuffed a mouthful of sweet cream into her mouth, her small face radiating happiness, then answered without hesitation:
“Because I’m a Magical Girl now, of course.”
Liu Qingruo’s cherry lips parted slightly, her crimson eyes flashing with disbelief. She then circled Ye Qing, looking her over, and for some reason, a hint of disappointment flickered in her gaze.
“To be honest, Teacher Qingyu would actually make a pretty good evil executive…”
“Though you’re a Magical Girl, it’s really not surprising that those words would come out of your mouth…”
Ye Qing retorted helplessly, her mood unconsciously improving.
Indeed, Xiao Yi was a warm little cotton jacket, even if they occasionally grew tentacles on the inside.
“So, does that mean we’ll be teammates from now on? Yay~”
Watching Liu Qingruo’s adorably silly smile, Ye Qing let out a soft sigh.
That, of course, would not be happening.
Ye Qing’s eyelashes lowered slightly over the cake, lost in thought. A moment later, she picked up her fork again.
But just as she was about to bring a bite of cake to her mouth, a sudden knock echoed from the door.
Ye Qing abruptly turned her head towards the door, while Liu Qingruo had already risen, slowly making her way to the entrance.
“I’ll get it…”
“Wait, don’t open the door yet.”
Ye Qing suddenly spoke, stopping Liu Qingruo. The red-haired girl turned back, looking puzzled.
“What’s wrong? We’re just eating cake…”
“We’ll talk after I finish this cake.”
Ye Qing’s eyelids drooped. She quickened her movements, practically wolfing down the cake as if burying a disaster site.
Who could be outside the door? The answer was almost self-evident.
Gu Xuanyu didn’t knock, and Shen Congqing had no reason to visit at such a time, as she might not even be in the dorm. Therefore, it could only be *those* people.
The annoying individuals Qin Yuqian had brought.
However, Qin Yuqian hadn’t mentioned her departure again, seemingly having changed her plans… But in any case, she was to be expelled from Gu Xuanyu’s side.
Perhaps her current idea was to let those mysterious figures behind her take her away.
This might displease Gu Xuanyu, even provoke her to investigate furiously, but in that process, she would undoubtedly grow stronger. That would have already achieved Qin Yuqian’s goal.
That was why Ye Qing had been so eager to make that wish, precisely to prevent such an occurrence.
Gu Xuanyu still had her beloved piano, and chapters yet to compose. What if they were hindered because of me?
Fortunately, though the inscription of the wish had been misinterpreted, otherwise Ye Qing might have been forgotten by everyone. And she no longer wished to experience the feeling of being forgotten.
Yet, from what she could see, only some subtle changes had occurred. What exactly they were still needed her confirmation.
The knocking grew more urgent. Liu Qingruo, though perplexed, did not rush. Instead, she quietly leaned against the back of the door, which was designed to be difficult to damage and impossible to force open from the outside.
Though she didn’t understand why Ye Qing insisted on this, she knew there had to be a good reason.
The patience of the person outside finally seemed to reach its limit, and a cold voice spoke:
“Please open the door. Inspection Department.”
Liu Qingruo was slightly startled, realizing why Ye Qing had stopped her. It was the disciplinary team. But eating cake wasn’t really a serious offense, was it?
However, Ye Qing’s mouth was indeed a bit small; she had only managed to cram half the cake in. Hearing the insistent knocking, Ye Qing unhappily shot a middle finger at the door, leaving Liu Qingruo dumbfounded.
‘Teacher Qingyu… is truly rebellious.’
As if sensing Ye Qing’s silent disdain, the white-robed figures outside immediately stopped their knocking and began to employ special methods.
The door lock clicked open from the outside. Immediately, Liu Qingruo felt a strong push against her back.
The red-haired girl grew anxious. She pretended the door was stuck, all the while signaling Ye Qing with her eyes.
‘Are we really going to keep blocking them?’
Ye Qing glanced at the remaining portion on the plate, sighed softly, and stepped forward, about to open the door. Suddenly, an intense shriek tore through the sky above.
Everyone’s attention was instantly drawn, and then they watched in horror as countless colorful specks of light rained down like meteors from the sky.
Ye Qing instinctively looked out the window. In her vision, however, those specks of light were merely background. Standing before her was a familiar, elegant figure.
With her flowing purple hair wildly dancing in the wind, An Yueying gently tapped on the window, smiling tenderly.
“Need a hand, Miss?”
