Join the ServerShen Shengqing sat silently to the side, as still as a sculpture, his gaze locked firmly onto Mu An’s lifelike features, keeping his breathing extremely soft, as though the slightest disturbance would cause the person before him to dissolve completely like a wisp of blue smoke.
Mu An was filled with shock and bewilderment.
‘Why am I seeing Shizun? Shouldn’t I be in the second world by now?’
‘Could it be that the person in front of me just looks like Shizun, but is in fact already someone from another world?’
Mu An scrutinized the person before him carefully; the man was clad in white robes, cold and handsome, yet a lingering air of gloom shrouded his brow, and white hair fell beside his face, presenting the unmistakable aura of a demonic cultivator who had succumbed to qi deviation.
Mu An could not help but breathe a sigh of relief, assuming that he must have arrived in the second world.
Yet, in the very next second, he heard a familiar voice, “An… An’an.”
“Is it another dream?”
Shen Shengqing murmured softly, stepping forward to wrap his arms around Mu An.
Mu An stiffened violently, caught off guard as he was pulled into a tight embrace, and before he could even react, his lips were easily pried open.
The man claimed his lips in a chaotic, desperate kiss, his warm breath flushing the tips of Mu An’s ears a deep red.
“Mmph…”
Mu An frantically pushed at Shen Shengqing, feeling utterly repulsed by some random stranger kissing him out of nowhere.
He shoved the man away with a violent burst of strength and slapped him across the face without any mercy.
A sharp crack echoed throughout the entire cave dwelling.
Shen Shengqing froze in place, slowly raising his hand to cover his cheek.
It… it hurt!
Mu An shook his hand; this body was far too fragile—he felt as though he was on the verge of fracturing his own bone just from hitting someone.
The moment the system went online, it witnessed this explosive scene and could not help but close its virtual eyes, [Host… why did you hit Shen Shengqing?]
‘This is Shen Shengqing!’
Mu An’s eyes widened instantly in sheer bewilderment.
‘Didn’t I complete the mission?’
[Who knows what this Shen Shengqing was thinking, insisting on resurrecting you no matter what.]
[If you didn’t resurrect soon, he was going to end his own life! If the male lead dies, the entire world will completely collapse, and all the missions we’ve done will be in vain!]
The system’s roaring voice made Mu An knit his brow slightly, his mind going completely blank.
‘Why would Shizun want to end his own life?’
“An’an…”
Shen Shengqing’s raspy voice brought Mu An back to his senses.
In the next instant, a warm fingertip brushed against Mu An’s brow.
Shen Shengqing’s finger trembled slightly, and a sudden wave of panic surged in his eyes, “An’an, where does it hurt? It is Shizun’s fault! Shizun should not have been so reckless!”
“Shizun merely thought he was still dreaming…”
Shen Shengqing hurriedly sent a message to the Valley Master of Medicine God Valley.
Mu An froze for a moment, then quickly comforted him, “I am fine, Shizun.”
Shen Shengqing lifted his hand and cradled it in his palm, inspecting it with the utmost care, “Did I make your hand hurt when you hit me?”
Looking into Shen Shengqing’s eyes, which were brimming with profound affection, Mu An’s emotions turned complicated.
He did not understand, “Why did you resurrect me?”
He had originally thought that after being confined by him, even if Shizun was extremely protective of him, he would still harbor revulsion because of his extreme behavior.
Shen Shengqing’s grip on his hand tightened abruptly, and his lifted eyes were filled with panic and urgency, “An’an, I cannot live without you. An’an!”
Suddenly, as if driven to madness, he pulled Mu An into a death-tight embrace, squeezing with so much force that Mu An almost felt as though he was going to be snapped in half.
“It is my fault. If not for me, nothing would have happened to you. Shizun has failed you,” Shen Shengqing confessed with heartfelt remorse.
Scalding tears spilled onto his shoulder, their heat shaking Mu An to his core.
Shizun was crying!
He sat frozen in place, passively letting Shen Shengqing hold him in his arms.
The faint scent of herbal medicine on the man’s body was exceptionally comforting.
He lowered his eyes to look at his master’s snow-white hair, and his heart felt as though it were being pierced by needles, a dense, tingling ache spreading through him.
The Valley Master of Medicine God Valley arrived incredibly fast, teleporting into the cave dwelling within moments.
Sensing an external presence, Shen Shengqing carefully released Mu An, but his hand still held onto one of Mu An’s hands in a death grip, as though the person before him would vanish entirely the moment he let go.
He pulled aside one side of the bed curtain, “An’an is awake.”
Hearing this, the Valley Master quickly rounded the screen to enter the inner chamber.
The moment he saw the living Mu An, his heart was filled with astonishment, and he stepped forward hastily.
He impatiently pressed his fingers to Mu An’s pulse; once he finished checking, his eyes were filled with even greater shock.
Shen Shengqing’s cold brow furrowed slightly, “How is An’an?”
“He is alive… He really is alive.”
The Valley Master glanced at the Soul-Gathering Lantern beside the bed.
They had clearly been unable to gather Mu An’s soul all this time, let alone manage to guide the soul back into his body.
Yet, against all odds, the youth had suddenly returned to life out of nowhere, entirely lacking any medical explanation.
But the faint yet stable pulse thrumming beneath his fingers told him that Mu An had truly returned to life.
Shen Shengqing tightened his grip on Mu An’s hand.
He also knew that Mu An’s awakening was far too sudden.
Six hundred years had passed, and he had already been prepared to follow him in death, yet Mu An had actually returned to life.
Terrified that this was all a dream, he could not help but fix his gaze tightly on Mu An.
Sensing the gazes of both men, Mu An swallowed hard, “Is my corpse… body still okay?”
“Your body is severely depleted. I will prescribe some decoctions and medicinal baths to nourish you. However, after lying in bed for so many years, I fear you will not be able to regain physical functions like walking anytime soon. You will need daily training.”
Finished speaking, the Valley Master stood up to write the prescription and explained the preparation method to Shen Shengqing.
Afterward, he motioned for Shen Shengqing to follow him outside, but Shen Shengqing acted as though he hadn’t seen it at all.
He held firmly onto Mu An’s hand, terrified that the other would vanish in the blink of an eye, and had no intention of letting go.
Seeing this, Mu An could not help but advise Shen Shengqing, “Shizun, the Valley Master seems to have something to discuss with you.”
Shen Shengqing shook his head, gripping his hand tightly, “I will not leave you.”
He turned his gaze to the Valley Master. “Whatever it is can be said right here.”
The Valley Master opened his mouth, ultimately swallowing his words, “It is fine. You two have reunited after a long parting; you should catch up properly.”
“Thank you for your understanding, Valley Master,” Shen Shengqing expressed his gratitude.
The Valley Master walked out of the cave dwelling and looked up at the boundless sky, unable to hold back a sigh.
He recalled the long-absent gleam of light reignited in Shen Shengqing’s eyes, and remembered the man’s crazed actions over the past six hundred years, feeling a deep, desolate sorrow in his heart.
Although Mu An’s body had been nourished with spiritual herbs for a long time, he was someone who had died once already; his internal spiritual energy was completely gone, and his constitution and spiritual meridians were inferior to before—even falling short of a robust ordinary person.
Being unable to cultivate, coupled with a frail constitution, meant he would likely struggle to last a century.
A century later, what plans would Shen Shengqing make then?
Was this steadfast devotion spanning hundreds of years in exchange for a few decades of companionship a blessing or a tribulation?
“Valley Master!” A disciple who had rushed over upon receiving Shen Shengqing’s message cupped his fists toward the Valley Master, “This disciple is here to collect the prescription.”
The Valley Master nodded slightly, handed over the items, and casually explained the various methods of application.
Let us hope that kid manages to live just a little bit longer.
