Join the Server“Holy crap! Mu An, I got hired!”
Chen Tong’s ecstatic voice came through the phone, and Mu An happily echoed a few words, congratulating him in advance on a smooth internship.
After hanging up, Mu An returned to his modest room and signed his own internship contract.
The system had updated a new mission, requiring Mu An to go to Jiang Yan’s film set to work as a production assistant, infiltrating the crew to secretly photograph and stalk Jiang Yan every day.
Just as he signed his employment contract, the system’s voice echoed in his mind, [Congratulations, Host, on completing a key plot point. Current progress is at 50%.]
Mu An let out a deep sigh; next would be the time to test his hiding abilities.
After all, if Jiang Yan discovered him, he feared Jiang Yan would capture him and interrogate him, demanding to know why he had stabbed him.
He wouldn’t be able to defend himself even if he had a hundred mouths!
Mu An returned to the hotel where he was temporarily staying, grabbed his luggage, and hailed a taxi.
As the taxi drove away, a black car parked by the roadside slowly started up and followed.
Jiang Yan trailed Mu An all the way until he saw him check into a hotel near the film set.
His heart leaped with joy.
An’an still cared for him; An’an had come to support him again.
Just as expected, as long as those filthy men stayed away from An’an, An’an’s heart would belong to him.
At the hotel.
The manager detailed Jiang Yan’s upcoming schedule to him one by one.
When she looked up, she saw that the man’s long-sullen face had finally lit up with a smile again.
“Did you win the lottery? You’re so happy.”
Jiang Yan raised his eyebrows slightly, “Is it that obvious?”
“Su-per obvious!”
The manager laughed and handed the booklet in her hand to Jiang Yan.
“The crew starts shooting tomorrow. Your teammate from the survival show, Su Jicheng, is playing the second male lead. I know you two don’t get along, but you must be careful not to make it too obvious; there are cameras everywhere.”
Jiang Yan nodded, “Don’t worry, I know my limits.”
Although the previous thug attack hadn’t ultimately been proven to be masterminded by Su Jicheng, Jiang Yan knew perfectly well in his heart that the matter was deeply connected to him.
Furthermore, he had recently discovered that he shared some resemblance with Su Jicheng’s mother.
Though Jiang Yan was reluctant to guess in a melodramatic direction, Su Jicheng’s malice was too deep, causing him to inevitably grow suspicious.
After seeing off his manager, Jiang Yan returned to his room, opened his camera, and took a selfie.
[I heard you want to see me?]
Upon receiving the system’s notification, Mu An immediately clicked onto Jiang Yan’s Weibo.
Without even reading the caption, he hit like, and then directly pasted a copied catchphrase into the comment section to secure a top spot.
Only after completing these basic operations did he begin to admire Jiang Yan’s selfie.
Jiang Yan was smiling brilliantly, and an exceptionally alluring hint of his collarbone was casually exposed.
[Gege, without you, who else would feed us selfies every week?]
[Handsome, handsome, handsome!]
[It’s rare to find an actor who still doesn’t forget to pamper his fans after becoming famous. I love it.]
Mu An liked every single one, expressing deep agreement.
Just as Mu An was about to exit Weibo, he spotted a trending topic.
#Su Jicheng Exposed#
“Su Jicheng? The villain who targeted Jiang Yan?”
Mu An clicked in out of curiosity, discovering that a video of him embracing girls on both sides at a KTV had been leaked.
However, not long after, Su Jicheng posted a clarification, claiming it was an AI deepfake and not him at all.
Some bloggers posted frame-by-frame analysis videos proving it wasn’t a deepfake, but they were reported and taken down shortly after.
Like a badger in a melon field, Mu An had a field day eating up the drama.
Every kind of opinion was flying around the forum; some believed and defended Su Jicheng, while others cursed Su Jicheng’s fans for being brain-dead.
Mu An was originally enjoying the drama quite happily, until someone dragged Jiang Yan into the mud, claiming that it was Jiang Yan spreading rumors and leaking dirt.
Furious, Mu An rolled up his sleeves and started cursing them out!
They could curse anyone they wanted, but not his bias—this was the gene etched into the DNA of every fan!
On the other side of the screen, watching Mu An’s posts cursing out Su Jicheng’s fans, Jiang Yan’s heart constantly bubbled with pink, romantic joy.
Although half of what Su Jicheng’s fans said was true—the dirt on Su Jicheng was indeed leaked by him—it wasn’t a rumor.

Under the sunlight, slanted wind and fine drizzle beat against the transparent surface of the umbrella, splashing tiny droplets of water.
The man tilted the umbrella in his hand slightly; the fine rain tapped against his black suit jacket, yet completely shielded the woman in the white dress beside him.
Amidst the hazy mist, the two stood extremely close; although there wasn’t a single line of dialogue, the scene possessed an inexplicable sense of storytelling.
“They’re so ship-able!”
Hiding behind the crowd, Mu An heard the excited voice of his work buddy beside him, “I didn’t expect my goddess to have such chemistry with Jiang Yan.”
Chen Xi happily shook Mu An’s arm, her face brimming with excitement.
Seeing no reaction from Mu An, she finally realized, “Sorry, I forgot you are a solo fan.”
Mu An sighed inwardly, but outwardly he put on an angry expression.
A gloom covered his peach-blossom eyes as he spoke in a low voice, “They are just acting, and they’re filming a suspense thriller at that! Where is the chemistry?”
He let out a cold snort and sneakily pulled out his phone to snap pictures of Jiang Yan.
“Be careful,” Chen Xi anxiously scanned their surroundings. “The crew doesn’t allow photography; be careful not to get caught.”
“I’m not going to post them online,” Mu An insisted stubbornly, staring intently at the lens and pressing the shutter button.
“Cut—” the director called out.
Jiang Yan disengaged from his character and subconsciously looked in Mu An’s direction, but as usual, he only caught sight of a departing back.
Chen Xi quickly followed behind Mu An, “I really don’t get you. If you like Jiang Yan, just be bold and go ask for an autograph. Every time Jiang Yan looks over, you hide; isn’t that way too introverted?”
Mu An had grievances he couldn’t voice and could only keep hiding.
He had been on set for half a month now, playing an extreme game of hide-and-seek every single day.
He looked at Chen Xi and argued artfully, “I’m not dressed up right now, and I’m covered in dust. Appearing before my idol like this will only lower his opinion of me!”
“That’s true.” Chen Xi nodded in sudden realization.
[System mission updated: Please steal an item used by Jiang Yan to add to your collection.]
Mu An paused in his tracks and turned to look back at Jiang Yan, only to see him returning to the break area.
As the door swung shut, he completely lost sight of the man’s figure.
“Mu An! Chen Xi! What are you two standing around for? Come over and move these things.” A shout from their supervisor pulled Mu An’s attention back, and he turned to head back to work.
A short while later, Jiang Yan walked out of the break room and returned to the set to run lines with the female lead.
Mu An glanced at the break room, which had been closed once more. He turned to say something to Chen Xi, pretended he needed to use the restroom, took a roundabout path, and slipped back to the break room.
He gently pushed the door open; as expected, there was no one inside. He tightened his cap, strode swiftly into the break room, and carefully shut the door behind him.
Inside the break room, only a pack of tissues sat on the table in the middle.
On the sofa chair lay a backpack with a combination lock, and there were no other items in sight.
Mu An crept up to the backpack, surveyed it, and found every compartment locked. His peripheral vision caught sight of the trash can beside it.
“System, did Jiang Yan use the paper cup in there?”
[He used it.]
A flash of joy crossed Mu An’s eyes. He quickly squatted down and picked out a disposable paper cup from inside.
Just as Mu An reached the door holding the paper cup, he heard an urgent shout from the system.
[Host, be careful, Jiang Yan is coming back!]
I’m doomed! Going out now means running straight into Jiang Yan! Mu An panicked in his heart.
The door was slowly pushed open, and damp moisture drifted in with the cool breeze.
