Join the Server“Wanghua Immortal Lord!” The elder of the Administration Hall was puzzled by his arrival but quickly stepped forward to greet him.
“Immortal Lord, what instructions do you have?”
“It seems the outer training opportunities for inner disciples have become rather scarce lately,” Shen Shengqing remarked.
“Ah… inner disciples have an annual assessment standard for going out to train. Generally, completing one level-five mission or two level-four missions is enough to meet the requirement,” the elder explained.
Shen Shengqing’s cold gaze swept over the shelves filled with various bamboo scrolls and books. “Are there any long-standing missions that no one has taken?”
“There certainly are. Please wait a moment, Immortal Lord, I’ll bring them to you.” Though the elder had no idea what Shen Shengqing was after, he knew better than to question him.
Before long, the table in front of Shen Shengqing was piled high with bamboo scrolls.
He reviewed them one by one, his brow slightly furrowed. They were all trivial, insignificant matters.
After searching for quite a while, he finally found a mission that was highly challenging for a Golden Core cultivator and would absolutely take at least six months to a year to complete—The Strange Events of Chen Village.
“Post this mission, and add a Thunder Resistant Pill to the reward. Only disciples at the peak Golden Core stage may accept it.”
Hearing this, the elder was inwardly astonished. [This is a Thunder Resistant Pill.]
As the name suggested, taking it could protect the user from a small portion of tribulation lightning damage. With this pill, the success rate of surviving the lightning tribulation increased by about 50%.
This would undoubtedly excite all those about to break through. But the Immortal Lord had specified that only peak Golden Core disciples could take it. Throughout the sect, there were only two disciples at the peak Golden Core stage.
One was the Wanghua Immortal Lord’s personal disciple—Mu An. The other was the personal disciple of Yi Chen, the Immortal Lord of Yunhe Peak—Yunnan You.
“Yes, Immortal Lord.” The elder accepted respectfully, taking the medicine bottle.
Shen Shengqing rose leisurely. Yunnan You was not his disciple after all. If he dealt with him harshly, it would violate sect rules.
If Yunnan You was sensible, he would accept the mission and go far away. After six months or a year, if Mu An had forgotten about him, then all would be well. But if he still didn’t know his place and dared to seduce Shen Shengqing’s disciple…
Then don’t blame him for showing no regard for a fellow disciple’s nephew.
After leaving the Administration Hall, Shen Shengqing unconsciously found himself at Mu An’s courtyard.
But he unexpectedly encountered an uninvited guest.
Dressed in pure white, Yunnan You stood with an upright posture, a medicine bottle in his hand, pacing back and forth at the courtyard gate, appearing very hesitant.
A cold glint flashed in Shen Shengqing’s eyes, and the corners of his lips curled with a hint of chill.
He stepped forward. The moment the other sensed his approach, Yunnan You immediately bowed. “Disciple Yunnan You greets the Wanghua Immortal Lord.”
Shen Shengqing lowered his gaze slightly, his icy eyes sweeping over Yunnan You from head to toe. He arrived at only one conclusion: ugly.
[How could someone so ugly have tempted An’an into willingly surrendering the first place in the sect tournament?]
Unable to wait any longer for the Immortal Lord to speak, Yunnan You dared not rise, though inwardly he was puzzled.
[I haven’t done anything to offend the Wanghua Immortal Lord, have I?]
“When did you meet Mu An?” A cool voice fell upon his ears.
Yunnan You inexplicably felt a bone-chilling coldness. His mind went blank for a moment, and he answered instinctively, “I met Junior Brother Mu An briefly when he first entered the sect.”
The coldness in Shen Shengqing’s eyes deepened. “How very long ago.”
Yunnan You dared not respond, only feeling the Immortal Lord’s pressure grow heavier, making it hard for him to breathe.
“Are you here to deliver medicine?” Shen Shengqing’s gaze fell on his hand. “And you have the nerve to offer such a low-grade pill?”
Yunnan You’s ears flushed slightly with shame.
“My disciple will be cared for by me. Without my permission, you are not to set foot on Qingjian Peak again.”
Yunnan You parted his lips slightly, wanting to ask why, but ultimately dared not voice the question.
The aura emanating from the Wanghua Immortal Lord was terrifying, as if the next moment he would draw his sword and cut Yunnan You in two.
“Yes, this disciple withdraws.” Yunnan You gritted his teeth, enduring the pressure as he backed away several steps.
Only after he had left the boundaries of Qingjian Peak did he feel his body relax. A strong taste of iron filled his throat, and traces of blood seeped from the corners of his mouth.
[They say the Peak Master of Qingjian Peak dotes on his only disciple, Mu An, to an extreme degree. From what I’ve seen today, the reputation is well-deserved. The Wanghua Immortal Lord must despise me for injuring Mu An in the sect tournament, hence his refusal to welcome me onto the peak.]
[The Nascent Soul stage is truly terrifying. Even though the Immortal Lord didn’t strike, merely releasing his pressure made my blood and energy surge uncontrollably.]

In the courtyard, Shen Shengqing felt as if a sponge were lodged in his chest, stuffy and unbearable.
He clenched his fists, walked a few steps, and went around to the back of the house.
There, fluttering in the wind on the clothesline, was the ceremonial robe he had given Mu An.
His heart tightened. With a wave of his hand, the robe flew into his grasp.
“Fool!”
“Ahchoo!” Mu An couldn’t help but sneeze.
[Host, maybe you should put on a few more layers. Don’t become the first unlucky soul in the cultivation world to die on Reflection Cliff. Otherwise, Reflection Cliff will soon be renamed Death Cliff.]
“Don’t worry, I’m perfectly fine. Someone must be cursing me.”
Unconcerned, Mu An nonetheless added more firewood to the pile.
“In martial arts novels, the heroes always like to carve cultivation techniques in caves. Why is our cave completely empty? Weren’t the people who came here to reflect before us bored? Didn’t they at least carve the date?”
[Carving one word costs three hundred spirit stones.]
“Oh,” Mu An shut his mouth.
Mu An opened his mouth. “I’m so bored.”
[Then play cards.]
Mu An silently raised his middle finger. “I’m a fool if I play with you again.”
After playing more than thirty hands and losing every single one of them, Mu An finally realized that an artificial intelligence’s algorithm was something an ordinary human like him could never defeat.
When other people played Landlord, it was three peasants fighting the landlord; when he played Landlord, it was three landlords beating up a peasant, completely devoid of human rights.
Mu An pulled a pot out of his bundle, deciding to go find some water to boil soup; if he holed up in the cave any longer, he’d die of boredom.
Walking while asking the system about the plot, “When can I poison Shizun?”
[Host, don’t rush. In a little while, the female lead will lead her disciples to Qingjian Peak for an exchange on resisting the demon clan together.]
[By that time, you’ll fear that your demon bloodline will be discovered, fear being spurned by your master, and fear that you’ll never be able to remain by your master’s side in this lifetime, so you’ll use Qing Ya’s poison to damage your master’s cultivation.]
“And then I’ll lock Shizun in a confinement room, hehehe!” The thought of locking up that cold-faced Long Aotian master, watching him kneel, and watching him angrily struggle filled Mu An with irrepressible excitement.
“Make him wash my clothes, hehehe.”
Making me wash clothes right before throwing me onto Reflection Cliff! I’ll make you wash over eight hundred pieces! Wash until I get my money’s worth!
[Hehe, and then you get pierced straight through the heart by the female lead’s arrow.]
Mu An reined in his smile.
Finding a frozen river, he began stabbing downward with his sword. After punching a hole through the ice, he filled the pot with water and lugged it back with him.
Halfway back, the surface of the water had already frozen over with a layer of ice.
Walking while gathering branches, he couldn’t help sneezing again.
Shaking his head, he felt his body growing somewhat fatigued and immediately quickened his pace.
Upon returning to the cave, he saw a white figure standing tall before the campfire.
He blinked, looking at the Shen Shengqing who had suddenly appeared here with a sense of disbelief.
“Shizun?”
Shen Shengqing turned around and, seeing how flushed his face was, instantly sensed something was wrong.
He stepped forward and pulled Mu An’s hand; the sensation was like touching a block of ice.
Yet the person before him acted as though he felt nothing at all, still looking at him with wide, watery eyes.
“Aren’t you cold?”
“Ah, it’s alright,” Mu An replied sluggishly, his brain turning slowly as he wondered: Should I flirt with Shizun a bit to secure my character setting?
Seeing that the outer robe on Mu An’s body was not only covered in snow but also frosted over, Shen Shengqing issued a cold command. “Take off your outer robe.”
“Ah… that’s not good…” Mu An’s tone shifted abruptly as he immediately launched into his yandere act. “Is that so, Shizun? This disciple has nothing he wouldn’t obey regarding Shizun’s commands.”
Though he harbored doubts, he stripped off his clothes with blinding speed.
System, hurry up and turn on my temperature blocker, I’m afraid of exposing a flaw, he muttered internally.
The very next second, the blocker was turned off, and his hands instantly began to tremble like a sieve.
Suddenly, his palm was grasped by a wave of warm power, continuously transmitting a stream of spiritual energy into him.
He hurriedly asked the system in his mind, “What’s going on, what’s wrong with my body?”
[Don’t worry, Host, you were just about to suffer from hypothermia. In the immortal cultivation world, you’ll live.]
“Live my foot—why didn’t you remind me? No wonder Shizun looked at me like I was mentally ill.”
With Shen Shengqing’s spiritual energy circulating through his body, Mu An gradually stopped feeling so cold.
When Shen Shengqing released his hand, Mu An still instinctively grabbed onto the other’s thumb, unwilling to leave the warm source. Realizing what he was doing, Mu An quickly let go.
Shen Shengqing silently glanced at his hand, conjured a cyan robe out of thin air, and draped it over Mu An. “Arms out.”
Mu An hesitated slightly. Wasn’t this the outfit he had washed and hung up to dry yesterday?
“Mu An?” The cold, clear voice fell, and Mu An instinctively raised his arms, slipping the clothes on.
Before he could react, his master’s hand reached toward his waist.
The man leaned in slightly, loosely wrapping his arm around his waist and bringing his hand around to his side to tie a knot for him.
“Ma… Master, I-I can do it myself.”
Warm breath spilled across Shen Shengqing’s neck; he almost failed to maintain his composure.
His movements paused briefly, and a short moment later, he solemnly finished tying the sash.
“This is a cold-resistant magical robe; it can ward off bitter cold and attacks from the Nascent Soul stage,” he explained to Mu An, lest the boy treat it like some ordinary garment again, washing it and hanging it out to dry.
“Thank you, Shizun.” Mu An was inwardly amazed. So giving me the clothes yesterday wasn’t him making me do chores after all.
Seeing that Mu An still had white snow dusting the tips of his hair, Shen Shengqing felt a pang of heartache. “Do you know your mistake?”
“This disciple knows his mistake.”
Whether he knew it or not, being asked like that meant he could only answer that he knew his mistake.
“Since you know your mistake, then come back with Shizun.”
“Ah?”
[Ah?]
Mu An was thoroughly shocked.
Didn’t he say the punishment was for two months? I packed my bags and everything for a long stay.
“What? You are unwilling to return with Shizun?”
“No, no, no!” Mu An suddenly realized his response lacked style and instantly shifted into a new posture. “This disciple wants to stay with Shizun; being away from Shizun’s side, this disciple is always worried about Shizun.”
Hearing this, Shen Shengqing’s brow smoothed out lazily. “Since that is the case, you shouldn’t be associating with disreputable people.”
Disreputable people?
Shen Shengqing offered no further reply. With a grand sweep of his large sleeve, he sucked all of Mu An’s luggage into his storage pouch and extinguished the campfire.
He reached out his hand toward Mu An.
Mu An stepped forward sluggishly, carefully placing his hand upon it, and the next second, he was gripped tightly.
In the blink of an eye, he was back in his courtyard.
