Join the Server“Brother Jiang, I’ll head back now.” Mu An gestured toward the main entrance.
“Call me by my name; I don’t want us to be too formal,” Jiang Yan corrected his choice of words once more.
Mu An nodded repeatedly. While Jiang Yan returned to the living room, he slowly closed the door, wedging a card in the gap so it wouldn’t latch completely.
Jiang Yan did not notice this.
After returning to his room, Mu An took a quick shower.
Hearing the system notify him that Jiang Yan had already entered the bathroom, he quickly stepped out and carefully opened Jiang Yan’s room door.
In the vast room, only the sound of water splashing in the bathroom broke the silence, making the atmosphere feel even more secluded. Mu An felt as though he could hear his own heart pounding.
He darted into the living room. He didn’t want to hide under the bed because Jiang Yan would spend more time there at night, increasing the risk of being discovered.
He had long set his sights on the TV cabinet below the living room console. The cabinet was a long, narrow strip with only one compartment, used merely to store a few towels—something no one ever opened on a typical day.
Mu An managed to squeeze into the compartment, which was barely 1.5 meters long, and was forced to curl up his legs.
After adjusting his position, he turned on his phone’s camera mode, tilting it slightly to aim at the gap in the cabinet door, hoping to see what was happening outside.
Before long, the sound of water stopped, and Mu An instinctively held his breath.
In the frame, a pair of strong, slender calves slowly stepped into the living area. Slowly, the man’s full figure appeared in his line of sight.
His white bathrobe was loosely tied, generously revealing the contour of his muscles, and his skin, freshly bathed in hot water, was flushed a pale pink.
The man’s half-dried hair looked exceptionally fluffy in the air. Jiang Yan casually brushed back a strand of hair, revealing a pair of slightly indifferent eyes.
He picked up the laptop from the table and sat on the sofa, his fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard, though it was unclear what he was doing.
Mu An silently swallowed his saliva. Oh my god, can you please have some modesty? Why are you sitting with your legs crossed while wearing a bathrobe?
From Mu An’s angle, he could faintly see up to the man’s thighs; although he couldn’t see anything intimate, it was still embarrassingly awkward to watch.
Jiang Yan’s brow slowly furrowed as he meticulously reviewed the surveillance footage of Mu An’s room.
Yet, there was no sign of the youth in any of the footage.
Jiang Yan skipped back through the timeline until 8:50 PM, when Mu An finally appeared on screen, suddenly standing up from the sofa and rushing out in a panic.
Jiang Yan checked the current time—a full half-hour had passed. Where on earth could Mu An have gone?
It was normal for An’an to have his own things to do; he shouldn’t be too anxious.
Jiang Yan stood up to pour himself a glass of water, took a small sip, and began flipping through his script.
Crammed inside the TV cabinet, Mu An just wanted to get on his knees and beg Jiang Yan to go to bed and stop being such a workaholic.
Around 10:00 PM, seeing that Mu An still hadn’t returned to his room, Jiang Yan couldn’t help but feel a surge of unease.
He dialed Mu An’s phone number directly.
A call notification suddenly popped up on Mu An’s phone, scaring him so badly he instantly hit decline.
On the other end, seeing the call disconnected in less than a second, Jiang Yan pursed his lips.
Where could he be that he couldn’t answer the phone? It was the middle of the night—didn’t he fear danger by not coming home?
Deeply worried, Jiang Yan called again, and it was again declined instantly. However, Mu An sent him a WeChat message.
【An’an】: Why are you calling? I can’t talk right now.
【Jiang Yan】: Where are you?
Mu An bit his lip, pondered for a moment, and replied, “At the library.”
Going to the library in the middle of the night—Jiang Yan felt something wasn’t right.
【Jiang Yan】: Doesn’t the city library close at 10 PM?
【Mu An】: That’s right, I’m just about to head back. Did you need something?
【Jiang Yan】: Nothing, just wanted to remind you to bring an umbrella for me tomorrow.
【Mu An】: You got it!
Mu An had just let out a sigh of relief when he lost control of his movement, his toe accidentally kicking the cabinet door. Though the force wasn’t great, it still produced a small pat sound.
Jiang Yan’s gaze swept over instantly. Mu An closed his eyes tightly, his mind already visualizing how he would die.
If he could, he wanted a coffin made of quicksand, with a QR code carved into his tombstone so people could scan it to listen to his final confessions before death.
“System!”
[Host! Stay calm!]
The sound of Jiang Yan’s footsteps grew closer, accompanied by the fragrance of his body wash. A pair of hands slowly pressed against the cabinet door.
Jiang Yan narrowed his eyes, quietly sensing the movement inside. He was certain someone was hiding in there.
And the only people who had ever entered his room, besides his manager, were Mu An.
He slowly stood up, his gaze fixed on the laptop screen.
The surveillance feed still showed a completely quiet room, without a single trace of Mu An.
Jiang Yan lowered his gaze, looking at the narrow cabinet in front of him, his breathing becoming heavy without him realizing it.
Poor An’an must be so cramped in there, so uncomfortable he couldn’t help making a sound.
Picking up his laptop, he murmured to himself, “The quality of the cabinets in this hotel is way too poor to be making noise like that.”
With that, he carried his laptop back to the bedroom, turning off the living room lights on his way.
The living room instantly returned to stillness. Mu An clutched his chest, unable to refrain from panting heavily.
“My god! I almost wanted to kowtow and beg for mercy!”
[Host, facts prove you don’t need to be so nervous. Keep a steady mindset and let me see your continued efforts!]
“Thanks a lot, chicken-soup system.”
Inside the room, Jiang Yan pressed the bedroom light switch, plunging the bedroom into darkness instantly.
He closed his eyes, feigning deep sleep.
On the other side, having received the system alert that Jiang Yan had been lying in bed for twenty minutes, Mu An finally pushed the cabinet door open gently and crept out on tiptoe.
The moment he came out, he immediately found a corner to do a routine set of calisthenics, loosening his numb legs and feet that felt as if they were being zapped with electricity.
The deep night was dead silent. Mu An quietly crouched by the bedroom doorway, using the dim, yellow glow of the bedside lamp to see Jiang Yan’s motionless sleeping posture.
He lowered his eyes to check his watch again; it already showed 2:00 AM. Jiang Yan should be fast asleep by now.
Mu An took a deep breath, an expression of madness swimming into his eyes. Step by step, he advanced, his bare feet treading onto the soft carpet with faint rustling sounds.
Under the faint light, the man’s sleeping face was serene, his brow relaxed, dark eyelashes resting gently on his eyelids, pale thin lips lightly pressed together, his breathing soft and warm.
Mu An’s slightly warm hand slowly caressed Jiang Yan’s eyebrows and eyes, his movement so soft it felt like the tip of a calligraphy brush gliding gently over rice paper.
“Yan-yan…” Through the low, raspy voice leaked an uncontrollable desire, his voice stopping as if choked up with emotion.
Mu An slowly leaned down, his fingers slipping beneath the thin blanket, gently hooking onto the tips of Jiang Yan’s fingers, teasing the other’s palm tenderly.
Jiang Yan’s eyelashes couldn’t help trembling slightly, but Mu An’s focus was entirely on his hand, missing this detail completely.
Mu An gently pulled Jiang Yan’s hand out from under the thin blanket, placing a gentle kiss upon it in a devout posture, “Yan-yan’s hands smell so good~”
His hands unconsciously rubbed and squeezed Jiang Yan’s hand, as if he had found a soft, squishy stress toy.
Leaning in close to Jiang Yan’s neck, Mu An took a deep breath and let out a sigh, his voice raspy, “I like Yan-yan so much…”
“Yan-yan, why are you so handsome? I really want to lock you up so only I can admire you!”
Mu An’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, a faint swallowing sound echoing in the air.
After a short while, Mu An slowly stood up, tucked Jiang Yan’s hand back into the blanket, and gently smoothed the covers.
“Sleep well, I will stay, stay by your side forever…”
Having finished all of this, Mu An walked softly out of the bedroom with light steps.
The bedside lamp flickered suddenly.
Jiang Yan, who was supposed to be asleep, slowly turned his body over. He gently brought his knuckles to his lips, pressing a kiss onto the exact spot Mu An had kissed moments ago.
The man’s cheeks gradually flushed red, the tips of his ears so hot they felt as if they were melting.
