Pera’s face darkened, and she gritted her teeth.
“Oh dear, what can I do? My dear Prince was injured, so I can only try my best with these trivial matters~”
Laura held a spatula in her right hand, covering her face as she spoke shyly.
Pera was utterly disgusted, feeling as though she had swallowed a fly.
She had not anticipated Laura’s presence.
This individual was her natural nemesis.
A single Sword Saint was already enough to give her a headache, but now there was Laura as well.
If Laura were merely an ordinary Healer, it would be one thing.
Though troublesome, Pera believed she could still manage.
However, this pink-haired maiden before her possessed another identity: a Curse Mage.
Curse Mages specializing in mental curses inherently possessed formidable mental resistance compared to regular Healers. Drawing Laura into an illusion would be even harder than pulling a Sword Demigod into one.
Moreover, Laura’s healing abilities also allowed her to dispel illusions from others, effectively placing the greatest possible limitation on Pera’s own powers.
So, what was she to do now?
Pera frantically pondered her options.
With her innate abilities nullified, even as a top-tier fox spirit, her physical prowess barely reached that of a Sword King. Not to mention, she was facing a Sword Saint who possessed the strongest continuous support imaginable.
In such a predicament, she undoubtedly faced only death.
Unwilling to accept her fate, Pera revealed her true form, transforming into a massive, ferocious fox, letting out a low growl.
Then, she lunged with all her might towards Laura, who stood by the door.
If she could just kill Laura first, the remaining Bai Ji would be no threat.
But how could Bai Ji allow her to succeed?
A Sword Saint’s reaction speed was far beyond what a mere fox could match.
Bai Ji casually swung her longsword, and a streak of sword energy flew across Pera’s path.
Pera slammed to a halt, forced to stop.
Then, Bai Ji flashed behind her, swinging her sword, intending to sever Pera’s neck.
Seeing this, Laura quickly cried out, “Don’t kill her!”
Bai Ji frowned, her wrist twisting slightly, transforming the sword’s edge into its flat side. She then struck the fox girl’s neck with a heavy slap.
Pera was immediately knocked unconscious by the blow, and her large fox form automatically shrank to a palm-sized mini version.
Laura breathed a sigh of relief, picking up the small fox that had been sent flying.
Bai Ji asked discontentedly, “Why couldn’t I kill her?”
Laura gently stroked the unconscious little fox as she explained, “This is someone from the Queen.”
“So what? Attacking the Prince in the middle of the night is a capital offense!”
Bai Ji was still unwilling to let go of this individual who had attempted to harm Su Mu. She knew well that if she let the fox escape, killing her later would be nigh impossible.
Laura rolled her eyes at the stubborn woman. “Firstly, we’re not certain if she truly intended to attack Susumu. Secondly, she’s the Queen’s person, so we don’t know if she came here under the Queen’s instructions. Finally, as a royal guard, even if Pera is guilty, it should be the Queen who handles her punishment, not us overstepping our bounds. Otherwise, we’ll be the ones in the wrong, understand?”
Her lengthy explanation left her parched.
If not for Bai Ji’s timely intervention to save her earlier, she wouldn’t have bothered saying so much.
Bai Ji frowned, asking, “Then what should we do?”
Laura gestured towards the still-sleeping Su Mu, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
“We don’t have the authority to punish her, but His Highness does…”

“Ding-a-ling~ Ding-a-ling~”
“Master, congratulations! You have passed the second critical choice node in your life and successfully survived. What a wise decision~”
“You have acquired the achievement and title: [Fortune’s Favored Clown]”
“[Fortune’s Favored Clown] Effect: Luck +1”
“Title Description: The clown who didn’t believe in fate welcomed his destiny while lying down…”
“You have received a reward: 100 Experience Points.”
“Da-da-da-da~ Level Up!”
“Lv3 → Lv4!”
“That’s wonderful, Master! Please keep up the good work~”

Su Mu was awakened by the System’s voice in his head.
Hazily, he processed the System’s words, then jolted in surprise.
‘What the hell? What happened? I successfully survived?’
Su Mu was bewildered. After making his choice this time, he hadn’t done anything but lie in bed and sleep. How had he inexplicably passed this choice node?
He opened the System panel in his mind.
He found that some of his information had changed.
First, a new title, [Fortune’s Favored Clown], appeared in his title bar.
Su Mu was furious.
‘What does this System mean? Is it never going to let go of the ‘clown’ thing?’
‘And what’s with this description? Is one title not enough mockery, so it needs a detailed note to ridicule me further?’
‘What’s wrong with clearing a stage while lying down? It’s not like I wanted it this way; the System is clearly messing with me. It’s definitely a fix!’
Su Mu grumbled and cursed, yet still gladly accepted the title. After all, gaining a bit of luck for free was a good deal.
Besides that, his level had also increased by one, from three to four.
The level increase was specifically reflected in the changes to his attribute values.
“Charm: 9”
“Luck: 9”
Both of these attributes had increased by one point.
The increase in Luck was due to the title’s effect. This suggested that the increase in Charm was the reward for leveling up.
He wondered what rules governed the increase of these attributes.
Su Mu looked at his other two attributes with some distress.
Both Strength and Magic remained at 1, utterly unchanged. He was still the same useless person as before.
‘Sigh, I wonder how I can improve my strength.’
He certainly didn’t want to rely on his damned charm to live off others his entire life.
Su Mu sighed.
After composing himself, he opened his eyes.
A pink-haired unknown creature flashed past his vision, startling him.
Then came Bai Ji’s displeased voice: “Get this damned fox away, don’t let it disturb His Highness!”
“Apologies, apologies, Pera is simply too energetic. I wasn’t watching her for a moment.”
Laura’s voice held no hint of repentance, only amusement.
She stepped forward, catching the scurrying little fox. Suddenly, she noticed Su Mu’s startled eyes. “Oh, Your Highness, you’re awake?”
Hearing this, Bai Ji roughly pushed Laura aside, helping Su Mu to sit up. “Your Highness, I apologize for disturbing you. How was your rest?”
Su Mu stared blankly at Bai Ji, then looked at the little fox still struggling in Laura’s grasp, unable to escape her clutches.
“What’s going on?”
Seeing that Su Mu was finally awake, the little fox seemed to see a savior, chirping incessantly and pitifully waving its pink paws at him.
Looking at the familiar little fox, Su Mu asked in confusion, “Miss Fox?”
The little fox nodded, tears welling in its eyes.
“How did she end up like this?”
Bai Ji remained silent.
Laura chuckled, “Sister Bai was a bit too forceful and accidentally knocked Pera back into her original form.”
Su Mu looked at the little fox thoughtfully, his gaze gradually becoming peculiar.
‘She’s here, which means she tried to attack me while I was sleeping?’
‘It seems she was subdued by Bai Ji and Laura.’
Su Mu recalled his and Bai Ji’s past experience of being brutalized by this fox, and he couldn’t help but cast a strange look at Laura.
Without a doubt, their victory over Pera this time was due to Laura’s presence.
It seemed this seemingly cute and innocent Saintess was more than just a simple Healer.
Su Mu didn’t dwell on it, shifting his attention back to the little fox. He asked with some concern, “Can she not change back?”
Laura offered a shy smile, not elaborating, simply saying, “She could change back normally, but I made a few small adjustments~”
The little fox struggled angrily, trying to scratch Laura’s face.
But Laura easily moved her hand away.
“Your Highness, the Queen’s attendant Pera attempted to attack you. How should we deal with her?”
Bai Ji asked.
Su Mu thought for a moment, then glanced at the sky, which was already beginning to lighten. He chuckled softly, “Since she is Mother’s attendant, let’s go ask her for a clear explanation.”
Upon hearing Su Mu’s words, the little fox instantly deflated, looking utterly resigned to its fate.
“By the way, what’s with the empty bowls on the table? Did you two have a feast while I was asleep?”
“Hmph, a certain ‘divine healer’ said she was preparing a late-night snack for you, but she ate it herself first.”
Bai Ji sneered, glancing pointedly at Laura.
Laura’s cheeks flushed, and she quickly retorted, “Sister Bai ate some too! Why are you only blaming me?”
“I ate yours. You ate His Highness’s. It’s not the same.”
Bai Ji stated, her reasoning sound.
Laura was furious, exclaiming, “Shameless!”
Watching their interaction, Su Mu scratched his head in confusion.
‘When did these two get along so well?’
