The little fox, weary from her walk, now lay sprawled on Su Mu’s shoulder.
She whispered the words.
“What’s there to be angry about? I’m actually quite happy.”
Su Mu’s lips curved upward into a joyful smile.
He put away the chain he held. The little fox no longer wished to be walked, and keeping her on a leash now would only make him look foolish.
“Eh—you’re still so happy after being contradicted and mocked. So you’re the masochistic type, huh?”
The little fox’s tone was laced with teasing.
“What are you thinking?”
Su Mu bent a finger and tapped the little fox’s head. He then explained, “For a brother, what could be more delightful than having his own sister protect him in front of outsiders?”
Silence fell over the little fox.
Su Mu assumed she was attempting to comprehend his joy, but then she suddenly blurted out, “Oh! So you like incest! You mustn’t, Your Highness! The King and Queen will kill you!”
Su Mu’s face darkened, his gaze at the little fox filled with murderous intent.
“The chain.”
Without another word, Su Mu casually summoned his contract item.
The little fox clutched Su Mu’s neck in a panic, yet her mouth continued to tease, “You’re flustered, you’re flustered! I hit the nail on the head, and now you’re enraged out of shame!”
“Heh…”
Su Mu let out a cold laugh, then issued his command:
“Pera, go lie down under the tree at that crossroads, urinate, and then shout, ‘I am Lord Susumu’s dog’ for half an hour.”
A faint glow shimmered along the chain.
Pera obediently jumped from Su Mu’s shoulder and immediately began to execute the command.
“Is that all? Little Mu Mu, I’ve long been immune to this level of shame, hmph hmph~”
“Then you’re truly outstanding. Keep up the good work. Just remember to follow the scent and catch up when the time is up, or don’t blame me if you mysteriously drop dead.”
Su Mu paid no further mind to the stubborn and unprincipled fox, resuming his leisurely stroll.
Ultimately, the previous commotion was nothing more than an insignificant interlude for Su Mu.
While it might have been a world-shattering disaster for that unlucky young sword attendant, what did it matter to him?

The little fox lay relaxed in the shade of the tree, splayed out like the character ‘大’ (big), staring blankly at the sky.
“I am Lord Susumu’s dog, I am Lord Susumu’s dog…”
A sound as faint as a mosquito’s buzz continuously emanated from her. Unless one approached the large tree, it would be difficult to hear, or even to notice a pink-furred little fox lying on the grass.
After lying there for a while, having brewed the feeling for ages, she finally felt the urge to urinate.
Pera covered her belly with her tail.

Suddenly, a gentle voice rang out:
“Hmm? Pera?”
Furei happened to be passing by and spotted the familiar little fox from a distance.
But… what was Pera doing?
Muttering to herself, saying who knows what, and looking like she was… wait?
Witnessing the sudden appearance of a ‘fountain’, Furei couldn’t help but frown.
Why had the little creature become increasingly unhygienic since leaving her? She had taught her so many things.
Upon hearing that familiar voice, Pera gave a sharp jolt. She had been controlling her stream, but in her surprise, she accidentally misdirected it, and a patch of translucent, pale yellow liquid stained her tail.
Pera stole a glance at Furei, wishing she could die.
She leaped up, hastily explaining, “No, Lady Furei, I—”
The silver necklace on Pera’s neck shimmered into existence.
Her voice caught, then she declared loudly, “I am Lord Susumu’s dog!”
Furei: “…”
Pera: “…”
Silence, the bridge of public humiliation.
Furei vaguely guessed what was happening and offered an awkward smile, saying,
“Ha, haha, well, you two certainly have some… interesting games. Yes, very good. But you should still mind your image when out in public. Hmm… you continue. I’ll be going now!”
Furei fled as if escaping.
The little fox stared blankly at the retreating figure of Lady Furei, whom she adored. The words of explanation and plea to stay that had reached her lips transformed into:
“I am Lord Susumu’s dog…”
“Ahhhhh! I don’t want to live anymore!”
Tears of sorrow welled in Pera’s eyes, and she collapsed onto the ground, utterly devoid of life.

Meanwhile, Su Mu, without realizing it, arrived before a building marked with a massive, pure white cross star.
He couldn’t help but marvel at this otherworldly architecture, a sight that seemed to exist only in fantasy.
This was the largest Healer Academy in the kingdom, the Sanctuary of Healing.
The last time Su Mu had come here for treatment, he had left in such a hurry that he hadn’t had a chance to appreciate the scenery.
It was morning, a time when many healers were in class. The faint sound of a teacher lecturing could even be heard from outside the gates.
Su Mu hesitated, not entering immediately. Instead, he suppressed his curiosity and waited quietly outside.
Only when a sudden clamor erupted did Su Mu step through the great doors of the Sanctuary of Healing.
Walking along a path inside the Sanctuary of Healing, he encountered students, both male and female, leaving their classes and heading outside.
Had class just ended?
Su Mu observed these students, uniformly clad in pristine white priest robes. He noticed that the proportion of female students seemed significantly higher than males.
Hiss, it felt somewhat like accidentally wandering into a liberal arts college back in his university days.
Su Mu felt the gazes of students, gathered in twos and threes, subtly shifting towards him. He quietly moved to the edge of the path, trying his best not to draw attention.
“It’s His Highness Susumu…”
Someone recognized him, a look of fear appearing on their face.
Yet others stared at him with palpable excitement.
Several girls approached together, asking with shy smiles, “Your Highness Susumu, are you here to see Lady Laura?”
“No, not really. I’m just here to look around.”
Su Mu felt a touch of helplessness as he saw the girls’ faces filled with disbelief.
“By the way, isn’t Laura here?”
He asked curiously. He had scanned the departing students but hadn’t seen Laura. He had hoped to find an acquaintance who could give him a proper tour of the Sanctuary of Healing.
“Ah, what a coincidence, Lady Laura also went out for something today.”
The girls giggled.
‘Also’?
Su Mu noted their choice of words.
He understood. It seemed the original owner, this ‘dog’ of a suitor, was not particularly favored by Laura.
Su Mu pondered this, then suddenly felt something amiss, a frown creasing his brow.
If Laura disliked him, why had she acted so intimately during the period after his injury and amnesia? She had even fabricated the lie that she was Su Mu’s fiancée, rushing to cling to him. What was the reason for that?
‘I don’t understand…’
Seeing Su Mu frown, the girls quickly said, “Your Highness, please don’t be angry. Lady Laura truly has something important today. Princess Linna is hosting a tea party for noble ladies at the Royal Palace…”
“Oh, it’s fine. I genuinely just came to explore the Sanctuary of Healing. Young ladies, I wonder if you might have the time to guide me through its beautiful sights?”
Su Mu interrupted them, offering a gentle smile.
The girls naturally didn’t refuse. They chattered excitedly, recommending the most interesting spots within the Sanctuary of Healing.
However, amidst the bustling crowd, he seemed to catch a few faint, mocking voices directed at him.

The Sanctuary of Healing was truly vast. Five hundred years had passed since the first Holy King founded it. Throughout these years, the Sanctuary of Healing had remained steadfast, undergoing countless renovations.
Its most renowned feature was undoubtedly the statue of the Holy King in the circular plaza. Legend had it that the statue contained a fragment of the first Holy King’s soul, which was why, after five hundred years, it still retained its perfect form and spirit, as exquisite as if brand new.
Listening to the girls’ explanations, Su Mu surveyed his surroundings.
Here were the teaching buildings and student dormitories.
The overall structure gave Su Mu a sense of the Notre Dame Cathedral, though the details differed.
According to the guides, children from remote areas who came to study here were provided free accommodation by the Sanctuary of Healing, enabling them to focus better on their studies.
Yet, something struck Su Mu as odd: the student dormitories were almost entirely empty, with no one residing in them.
He raised this question, and the girls chuckled in explanation, “Haha, Your Highness must be joking. In this day and age, how could anyone studying here be so poor they can’t even afford a house in the royal capital?”
Su Mu fell silent.
Suddenly, he stopped, pointing to a room in the dormitory building that stood out because someone lived there. He asked, “Then—who lives in that room?”
“Oh, that place? That’s Lady Laura’s room.”
The girls’ smiles faded as they answered nonchalantly.
