Chapter 35: A Brother’s Unconventional Reunion

“Brother, what a coincidence, you’ve come to a brothel too?”

Sasaki cringed, wishing for a hole to swallow him whole, upon hearing his own brother’s audacious greeting.

“Ahem, what a coincidence… No, wait, you, come inside!”

Sasaki was stunned for a moment before reacting, quickly grabbing Su Mu’s hand and pulling him back towards the room.

Su Mu glanced back at Bu You, who stood in the doorway looking equally bewildered, offering her an apologetic expression. Then…

“Bang—”

Without waiting for the succubus attendant’s reply, Sasaki slammed the door shut.

Su Mu’s gaze drifted back into the room. Several petite succubi, with innocent wide eyes and disheveled clothing, stared at the sudden commotion, utterly at a loss.

These tiny, tiny succubi…

“Holy hell! A perverted lolicon!?”

Su Mu exclaimed, a national expletive escaping his lips in shock.

Sasaki, who had been struggling to find the right words to speak to his brother, heard the outburst. A vein throbbed on his forehead as he glared at Su Mu with an unpleasant expression.

Su Mu quickly clapped a hand over his mouth, blinking twice. Meeting Sasaki’s gaze, he stammered an explanation.

“Uh, well, that’s not what I meant. I was saying… uh, they’re quite cute, ahem, Brother, you have excellent taste!”

He even gave a thumbs-up, flashing a wide, toothy grin.

Sasaki found himself caught between exasperation and amusement, not knowing whether to be angry or to laugh.

He sighed, waving a hand at the petite succubi in the room, signaling for them to withdraw.

The small succubi understood. They tidied their clothes and moved towards a hidden opening in the corner of the room, exiting one by one.

Watching their retreating figures, Su Mu admired their diverse little tails while silently marveling at the room’s secret passage.

He had been puzzled in the hallway, wondering why it was so quiet, without a single succubus in sight. It turned out there was an alternative passage for ‘deliveries’ within the rooms.

“Susumu,”

Sasaki called out softly, patting the sofa and inviting Su Mu to sit beside him.

Su Mu felt a flicker of doubt.

‘Why has the original owner’s brother suddenly become so kind to me? Last time we met, he completely ignored me, barely acknowledged my presence, and even tried to poach my people.’

He sat down obediently, awaiting Sasaki’s words.

Sasaki gazed at Su Mu with an earnest expression, yet remained silent for a long time.

Unable to bear it, Su Mu awkwardly averted his gaze, trying to escape Sasaki’s intense stare.

‘Why is he looking at me like that? Could it be because I stumbled upon his secret, and he’s planning to silence me?’

Su Mu felt a surge of panic.

Just as Sasaki was about to speak, a series of urgent knocks sounded at the door.

Sasaki opened the door with an annoyed frown, looking out.

It was Miss Bu You.

“Is something the matter?” Sasaki asked coldly.

Bu You offered a professionally gentle smile. “Your Highness, according to regulations, guests are not permitted to stay together, you see.”

“He’s my brother. It’s fine.”

“Then please allow me to accompany you.”

“My brother and I need to have a private chat. Your presence wouldn’t be appropriate.” Sasaki’s refusal was now explicit.

But Bu You was insistent, maintaining her gentle demeanor. “Your Highness, ensuring the safety of our guests is the responsibility of our Illusionary Paradise.”

Sasaki’s gaze hardened, a flicker of irritation entering his voice. “What? Do you truly believe I would harm my own brother?!”

Bu You merely smiled, offering no reply.

“Are you certain you wish to offend a future king?”

“Your Highness, threats are quite useless, you know. At least, until you become a true king, such threats hold no meaning.” Bu You spoke with an air of nonchalance, seemingly unconcerned by Prince Sasaki’s status.

Sasaki grew visibly angry, and a tense atmosphere permeated the doorway.

“Ahem, Miss Bu You,”

A sudden voice broke the strained silence. Su Mu stepped beside Sasaki, offering Bu You a grateful smile. “Thank you for your concern, but I also feel there’s no issue. Could you allow my brother and me some time alone?”

Bu You pondered for a moment, not immediately agreeing. Instead, she casually produced a scroll from her chest.

“Since the guest also agrees, please sign this waiver, then.”

Su Mu’s face twitched. He took the still-warm scroll, his smile somewhat strained. Are the staff here truly this dedicated? Carrying waivers around with them? And where exactly did she keep that contract, anyway?

Resisting the urge to bring the scroll to his nose for a sniff, Su Mu quickly scanned its contents. It was roughly similar to the liability waivers from his previous life. Although some details were vaguely worded, a contract this meticulously prepared was rare for this era.

With a clear understanding, Su Mu took the pen from Bu You and signed his name.

“All done. Thank you for your trouble.”

Bu You took the contract, responding cheerfully, “No trouble at all. Everything’s in order now. I wish Your Highness a pleasant time.” She then cast a knowing look between him and Sasaki before exiting the room, not waiting for Su Mu to offer any further explanation.

Su Mu was left with a wry smile. It wasn’t until the door closed that he realized Sasaki’s gaze had remained fixed on him.

“Brother, did you want to talk about something?”

A gentle expression softened Sasaki’s features. He reached out and stroked Su Mu’s head, not answering directly, but instead asking, “You truly don’t remember anything?”

“Mmm.”

“It’s alright. You’ll remember eventually. Come, sit.”

Sasaki intimately pulled Su Mu to sit beside him. “I know you have many questions right now. This place is absolutely safe, so you can ask freely, and I will answer them one by one.”

Su Mu stared intently at his nominal brother. Sasaki’s expression was sincere, devoid of any pretense. For some inexplicable reason, seeing this man brought him a sense of calm.

“Brother, who sent that woman to assassinate me?” Su Mu did not mince words, directly posing the question that had plagued him since his transmigration to this world.

Sasaki wore a knowing expression, shaking his head with a bitter smile. He offered no explanation, merely stating a fact: “Jessica is my person.”

Su Mu pondered. “So, you wanted to kill me?”

Sasaki countered, “Do you believe that?”

Su Mu fell silent.

Sasaki said nothing more, simply observing Su Mu’s reaction.

After a long moment, Su Mu slowly shook his head.

Sasaki’s face broke into a happy, relieved smile.

“Why do you believe me?”

Su Mu calmly looked up, meeting Sasaki’s eyes. “I don’t believe you. I simply trust my own judgment. You have no reason to kill me; it would bring you no benefit whatsoever, only trouble.”

Sasaki let out a soft, amused laugh, instinctively reaching out to ruffle Susumu’s hair again. “You’ve grown up,” he murmured with emotion.

Su Mu recoiled, ducking away from his hand. He frowned. “I’ve lost my memory. To me, you’re still a stranger. Let’s save these intimate gestures for later. So, who exactly wants to kill me?”

Sasaki naturally withdrew his hand. “Alright. The truth is, I don’t have substantial evidence regarding the real mastermind, but I suspect it was Father’s doing.”

Su Mu’s brows furrowed instantly. Their cheap father, whom he had yet to meet? To be honest, he had considered this possibility, but his current intelligence was too limited. To him, it was merely an unsubstantiated guess.

“Can you tell me your reasoning?”

“Have you heard of ‘raising Gu’?” Sasaki’s voice was chilling.
