Chapter 65: The Adventurers’ Guild and the Prince’s Wrath

Although the Mid-District wasn’t as prosperous as the Upper District, it was, for the royal capital, an even more crucial part.

It was widely known that the royal capital boasted three sacred havens for men: the Illusionary Paradise, the Sweet Dreams Tavern, and the Divine Craftsman’s Forge.

Of these, only the Illusionary Paradise was located in the Upper District; the other two were exclusively found within the Mid-District.

The ultimate reason these two esteemed havens gravitated towards the Mid-District was the presence of the Adventurers’ Guild within its bounds.

At the heart of the Mid-District stood an exceptionally tall edifice. A metal ring, intricately formed by an intertwined sword and shield, adorned its rooftop. Its peculiar architectural design made it stand out prominently, like a crane among chickens, amidst the surrounding ‘container-like’ buildings.

As Su Mu arrived at the entrance of this unique building, home to the Adventurers’ Guild, he was utterly captivated by the potent aura of a different world.

Recalling the otherworld-themed anime and novels he had consumed in his previous life, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion.

‘Indeed, the Adventurers’ Guild truly embodies the essence of an otherworld!’ he thought.

Noticing the foolish grin plastered across Su Mu’s face, Roland and Katusha instinctively stepped back a few paces, maintaining a stranger’s distance. Roland then turned to Bai Ji, asking with a serious expression,

“What’s wrong with Susumu?”

Bai Ji blinked twice, then shook her head blankly.

‘It must be a lingering side effect of her amnesia,’ she mused.

Su Mu quickly snapped back to reality. He turned around to find Katusha and Roland standing far away from him, and asked in confusion, “What are you two doing? Come on, we’re going in.”

Seeing Su Mu return to normal, Katusha and Roland both breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Upon entering the building, they found a spacious lobby on the first floor, furnished with numerous wooden tables for resting adventurers.

At this hour, nearing noon, it was precisely when adventurers, having completed their missions, flocked to the Guild for task handover.

Consequently, the first floor of the Adventurers’ Guild was exceptionally crowded.

The weather wasn’t particularly hot, yet for adventurers who had been toiling outdoors for extended periods, it felt no different from summer.

A mixed scent of sweat permeated the air throughout the first-floor lobby.

This pungent aroma caused Su Mu and his companions, who had just entered, to immediately furrow their brows, appearing as if they were about to suffocate.

Only Bai Ji remained unfazed, as if she possessed no olfactory system whatsoever.

The adventurers on the first floor immediately noticed this group of newcomers, who clearly didn’t belong. Many openly mocked Su Mu, Katusha, and Roland’s expressions, roaring with laughter.

Others, captivated by Bai Ji and Katusha’s beauty, deliberately whistled loudly, attempting to provoke them.

A burly man, particularly thick-set, even climbed onto a table, raising his arm high to expose a densely hairy armpit, all while casting a provocative glare at Su Mu and his group.

Su Mu’s expression returned to normal.

He had naturally noticed the crude display of the large man, and his brow furrowed in displeasure. He gently patted Bai Ji, who stood beside him, her killing intent already overflowing and veins bulging from suppressed rage. His voice was icy as he spoke,

“You don’t need to hold back anymore. That man, I want that arm he’s flaunting, to feed to the dogs.”

He then quickly added, “But don’t kill him.”

Bai Ji’s body trembled as she nodded, and then…

‘Seal解除!’

The moment she drew her sword, her figure instantly vanished from her original position. A series of piercing sounds echoed through the air.

Under the frightened gazes of the onlookers, Bai Ji appeared like a phantom beside the bare-shouldered man. Simultaneously, a line of blood emerged at the connection point between the man’s raised arm and his shoulder.

The man’s arm was cleanly severed, losing its skeletal support, and immediately dropped to the floor. The previously boisterous atmosphere throughout the entire first-floor lobby instantly fell silent.

Only the man’s belated screams and wails of agony, clutching his severed limb, broke the oppressive quiet.

Having completed her task, Bai Ji slowly walked back to Su Mu, amidst the silent, fearful stares of everyone present.

Su Mu cast a disdainful glance around the room, then turned to Bai Ji, his voice cold, “Didn’t I say to feed his arm to the dogs?”

Bai Ji respectfully replied, “Your Highness, I believe dogs would find such a filthy arm unappetizing.”

Su Mu had not expected Bai Ji to be so adept at playing along. A satisfied smirk touched his lips.

“You have a point. Then let him gnaw on it himself.”

Simple words, yet the ultimate humiliation. The entire hall grew even quieter, with most people lowering their heads like ostriches, fearing to incur the wrath of these ruthless individuals.

A few, however, watched Bai Ji with serious expressions, pondering the disparity in strength between themselves and her. Meanwhile, the unfortunate man, tormented by pain, continued to howl, completely oblivious to Su Mu’s words.

Just then, a woman in a suit and glasses rushed down from the upper floor. She approached Su Mu, bowing respectfully, “Second Prince, Your Highness, I apologize for not being prepared for your arrival.”

Su Mu knew this must be the manager of the Adventurers’ Guild.

“No matter. I have a small matter to attend to here.”

The woman in the suit quickly led the way. “Your Highness, please come upstairs to the VIP room for some tea. If there’s anything we can assist with, we will not refuse.”

Su Mu nodded slightly, following the woman up the stairs. Suddenly, he paused, and casually remarked, “I’ll buy that man’s hand. Tell him to go to the palace later to collect the money from Louis.”

Cold sweat trickled down the suit-clad woman’s back. She bowed respectfully, “Your Highness is merciful. I will inform him.”

It wasn’t until Su Mu and his companions’ figures completely vanished at the stairwell that the quiet atmosphere on the first floor gradually regained its vitality.

After Su Mu ascended, the unlucky man’s companions immediately scurried away, crestfallen, tucking their tails between their legs as they dragged him out of the Guild.

Some cast envious glances at the burly man.

“Tsk, he’s actually getting paid? The royal family surely won’t be stingy, will they?”

Someone else looked at the speaker as if they were an idiot, cursing directly, “Moron.”

Paid? If that man’s companions dared to go to the palace, they would be seeking death. The insulted man’s face flushed crimson, and he immediately stepped forward, ready to fight.

In the first-floor lobby, the atmosphere once again returned to its previous fervor.

In a corner, a man with a longsword adorned with a sapphire at his waist savored the sight of Bai Ji’s heroic figure. He turned to his companion, saying, “What a formidable Sword Saint maid! Her strength is truly unparalleled. I’d love to find an opportunity to spar with her.”

A short, shifty-eyed man beside him let out a lewd laugh. “I can’t tell you about her swordsmanship, but if I could spar with her in bed, my life would be complete, hehehe.”

A square-faced, well-built man next to them rapped the lewd man on the head, scolding, “Don’t seek death!”

A pointy-eared girl in their group rolled her eyes at the lewd man, snapping, “You men are all the same! Not a single good one among you!”

The swordsman gave an awkward laugh, muttering, “That’s a bit of a broad generalization… I’m innocent, you know…”

The last member, a woman in a revealing red dress, watched Su Mu’s retreating back. She seductively licked her fiery red lips, saying, “This must be the renowned Second Prince, Your Highness. Hearing about him doesn’t compare to seeing him; I never imagined he’d be even more domineering than the rumors suggest. *Hiss*… *Humph*… I like him…”
