Join the ServerSuddenly, I realized I had been nothing but a plaything these past few days.
I instinctively looked down at my clothes: a sheer silk nightgown, with black stockings underneath.
“Eep!” I let out a particularly sweet, startled cry. Inside, I clicked my tongue in annoyance.
Of course, both this cute act and this special scream were things I had learned over these days.
I immediately covered my three key points. Though I knew I was a man, so there was really only one spot to hide.
My face flushed bright red, tears welling in my eyes. All of this was ‘habitual behavior.’
Blushing fiercely, I glared at the group of soldiers. I even noticed one of them had a nosebleed.
“Ha ha ha, you’re even bleeding from the nose,” I blurted out, unable to help myself. My voice was adorable, like the whisper of a little fairy.
A red-haired young man, dressed more impressively than the others, shouted at me, “You! Who are you! What are you doing here!” That was the general! I could tell. And indeed, he was very young—his tone sounded like he was just in his twenties.
“Who cares! He’s a Nocturnal! Kill him and we’ll get top merit!” A soldier ignored everything and swung his blade at me. The greatsword glowed with blue light.
“Hey, hey!” Before I could finish, the man brought his sword down.
[Damn! Even through the iron bars you can hit me?!]
[Am I going to die again?!] I curled up on the ground, clutching my head.
But one second passed… then two.
“Huh… I’m not dead?” I looked up tearfully at the soldier outside the door.
Turns out the general had stopped him.
“Jiang Peng! Without my order, what do you think you’re doing?! Are you going to strike a child?!”
“But General! He’s a Nocturnal!”
“Silence!”
“Sir!” The man immediately sheathed his sword and stood at attention.
Then the general turned to me gently and asked, “Little girl, what’s your name?” Just as I guessed, the general was young, probably barely over twenty.
“Tch. I’m a boy. My name is Jiushi,” I said, pouting defiantly.
“Huh? A boy!” The group outside almost said in unison, their eyes wide.
“Mm—” I deliberately covered myself again, frowning and pursing my lips, looking like a frightened victim as I shuffled toward the corner of the bed.
Then I saw another soldier get a nosebleed! I felt that this bad habit of ‘deliberately attracting others’ desires’ was never going to change.
“Hey, is he really a Nocturnal?” a soldier asked doubtfully.
“Yeah, aren’t vampires supposed to be proud?”
“And he was terrified of Jiang Peng’s attack, didn’t even use magic defense. Are you sure he’s a Nocturnal?”
Several soldiers were actually speaking up for me—this caught me off guard.
Because last time, it was precisely my race that led to me being tortured to death, so now I was nervous.
“Silver hair, and those blood-red eyes—if he’s not a Nocturnal, then what is he?” the mage explained.
I was confused. How was I a blood-red eyes? Weren’t they orange?
But now the main thing was to clear suspicion.
“See? Do I have fangs? Ah—” I opened my mouth.
Everyone stared intently.
“No, Old Xiang,” a soldier pushed the mage. “He doesn’t have fangs. What’s going on?”
“Huh—” The mage, called Old Xiang, was astonished.
Clearly, he was very surprised. Of course he was—I was from the Black Feather clan, how could I be a vampire?
“Can you… let me out?”
“Sigh—” General Cloud sighed, drawing a longsword with a ‘light bar’ in the middle.
“General Cloud! What are you doing?” The mage blocked the general’s hand, signaling him not to act.
But General Cloud said calmly, “Hey! He’s just a kid. You already saw he’s not a vampire. What’s there to doubt? Besides, if he really were a Nocturnal, he wouldn’t have put up with all this. Even when Jiang Peng tried to kill him, he didn’t fight back.”
Then came the humming sound of the sword slicing through air. The iron bars in front of the washroom were cut into pieces and vanished directly.
I didn’t even see the arc of his swing; the sword was already back in its sheath.
“Wow! That… what is that?!”
“Wow, Iaijutsu!” I said excitedly.
“Iaijutsu? Haha.” General Cloud walked in. Clearly, his technique wasn’t Iaijutsu.
He came to my side, gracefully unfastened his cloak, crouched down gently, and draped it over me.
“A child wearing so little, what if you catch a cold?” the general said tenderly.
Under his helmet, red hair and eyes as gentle as the ocean slightly thawed the frozen state of my heart.
My nose stung… This was the first time in so many days that someone had cared about me.
Then, I couldn’t control my emotions. I threw myself into the tall man’s arms and burst into tears.
“General, be careful!” I heard the sound of many people rushing forward behind me, but I clung tightly to General Cloud’s cold yet warm armor.
[General Cloud raised a hand to signal they were fine, gently soothing Jiushi.]
“Alright, it’s okay now. Be good,” the general said softly, his voice deep and pleasant.
But… if he had just said the first two words, it would’ve been fine. When I heard ‘be good,’ my short temper flared. I was a grown straight man! Why should he tell me to be good?
I pushed him away, rubbed my eyes, and pouted, “Hmph, I’m fine.”
“Mm, that’s my little man!” General Cloud ruffled my hair heartily, like an older brother.
“Tch…” I clicked my tongue inwardly in disdain, but my actual expression showed enjoyment.
“Where do you come from?” The general sat on the ground, making small talk with me.
Wow! This scene! Ah! So touching! After so many days, finally a normal person was talking with me.
“General, to be honest, I don’t know where I’m from. I only know I was captured and brought here. Sigh…” I sighed. “Everything I say is true. Please don’t kill me…”
“Haha, what kind of talk is that? Why would I kill you just because you don’t know where you’re from?” The general laughed heartily.
“But last time, that demon killed me many times just because I couldn’t explain where I came from…” I pretended to be pitiful and innocent.
“What?! Killed you many times?” Concern showed on his face again.
Honestly, I had a very good impression of this general. His appearance, his tone, his expression—all very charming.
But because someone suddenly talked to me, my brain became active, and I immediately recalled everything that had happened since arriving in this world.
[I haven’t met a single normal person in this world!] I grumbled. [So, could this general be a bad guy too…]
[Also, if he really believes me, why is he still talking to me in this cell? Can’t he take me out?]
Therefore, I remained wary of the general’s kindness. I suspected he was wearing a mask of hypocrisy.
“Mm, killed many times. And resurrected many times too…” I answered while using my peripheral vision to observe the handsome general’s attire.
“Then you’ve managed to stay strong! You’re truly brave! You… ah, sorry, what was your name again?” He looked so calm.
