Chapter 29: Rescue or Misunderstanding?

Then came the 36th day.

“Mm…”

[Having served a white tentacle demon last night, Jiushi was extremely exhausted.] [After finishing his meal, Jiushi’s thinking ability slightly recovered.] “What day is this…”

“Not sure, no idea, seems like a week has passed, or maybe ten days?”

I stared at the unchanging scenery, dazed.

“Ah—last night was really, super fun~ Who knew being wrapped in tentacles would feel like that~ hehehe.” I thought blissfully, without a hint of embarrassment.

My hand involuntarily reached down below.

“Ah~ days like these… aren’t so bad…”

“I wonder if I’ll run into that white guy today~” My face flushed.

“Ah-woo—” I let out the cutest yawn, “Time to sleep, ah-woo—” Since I never knew when someone might come for me, I chose to sleep.

After all, someone like me, without any abilities, this was fine.

Anyway, I’m not the protagonist. Anyway, I have no power.

I was about to fall asleep when suddenly—’Boom! Pong! Swoosh swoosh swoosh!’—the sound of artillery startled me!

“Meow meow meow? What’s happening? Why did the castle shake?” I sat up in a hurry.

But before I could catch my breath and understand what was going on, there came another ‘Boom! Bang! Huaaaa!’ This time the tremor was even more violent, and there was also the sound of something collapsing.

“Ah—could it be?” Hope suddenly filled my eyes, “Could it be! Am I being rescued?!” “Run!” a sister outside shouted.

A flash of excitement made me stand up from the bed in exhilaration.

But due to low blood sugar, everything went black, and I sat back down on the bed.

Just then, behind me, beyond what seemed to be a wall, I heard a ‘swoosh swoosh swoosh’ sound.

“Huh… is that a missile?”

As I wondered, I heard the wall behind me go ‘boom’ and explode.

The wall was blown apart, sending a huge pile of rocks flying! And yet I was completely unharmed! None of the flying rocks hit me!

“Hahaha!” I laughed like an idiot.

Right then, the sisters outside were shouting.

“My Lord, what should we do?” “That old hag Tiffany already ran away! Hey! She even took the magic door! How are we supposed to leave now!” “Forget it, let’s just flee.” And with a whoosh, they all ran off.

“Hey! Save me!” I crawled to the iron bars, shouting desperately, but the artillery outside was already deafening; they couldn’t hear me at all.

“Damn, why is the gunfire so loud whenever I speak!”

“Hey hey hey, don’t be like this! Sister Xi! Sister Mary!” I called out twice more.

“Oh my god, damn it! They all fled?! Hehehe…” “Sure enough, this is my fate! Hehehe.” I was left alone here.

What to do? Following the usual tropes, I figured I’d die here.

Either blown up by artillery, crushed by a collapsing wall, or a bunch of soldiers charging in and beating me to death without a second thought.

“MMP! This is toxic! Why did they all run! Don’t leave me here alone!” I yelled.

But of course, no one heard.

Maybe because despair was too great, I felt no emotion inside—I even felt like laughing.

I grinned bitterly, then stood my bed upright and hid behind it, to avoid being killed by any sudden artillery.

“A shield should help, as long as the ceiling doesn’t collapse.”

“OK~ Reinforced wall complete! Hope it works!” I lay sideways on the ground, waiting to die!

“Mm! I’m satisfied! What else can I do? Oh right, I could go out through the back wall!” But then I remembered—I was on the third floor! Jumping down would kill me!

“Uh… I’ll just wait here to die. Running out and falling to death sounds tiring, and I can’t move. Mm—” I remained motionless, waiting quietly. Listening to the ‘live magical battle music’ I had never heard before.

Outside, crackling, booming explosions came one after another. There were also screams of all kinds of people, and the clashing of weapons.

“Ah~ Nice! That’s some exciting fighting!” I kept listening, and now and then the whole castle would shake, accompanied by a loud ‘duang!’ “Mm—great! It feels like a movie theater.” I continued staring blankly ahead.

But before long, the sounds of gunfire and metal clashing outside stopped.

I heard soldiers outside shouting something, all garbled, but I could tell there were a lot of people.

“Could it be over? It’s already over? I didn’t get to listen enough~” I remained dazed, but then I heard the sound of a door being kicked down and crashing to the floor in the corridor.

Then came a clatter—the sound that only armor could make.

“General Cloud, this is the last room on this floor!” “Everyone, be careful!” “Oh, a General Cloud. Noted, noted.”

“This general’s voice sounds young, and doesn’t have that killer aura. I think he might be a good general!”

I muttered to myself in my head.

“Hey—help, there’s a—” I was about to say ‘s*ave,’ but immediately stopped myself.

“There’s someone here, can you save me?” I said excitedly.

I knew I might be killed without question. But! What if these people could understand human speech? Then I’d have a high chance of being rescued.

Soldier: “General, there’s someone ahead.” General: “Be careful, go ahead and check.” I listened as the sound of armor drew closer, and the light of hope grew nearer.

Just then, through the bars, I saw the tip of a greatsword.

“Oh! Over here, over here!” I said excitedly, but because I was too tired, I could only kneel on the ground.

But something unexpected happened. When that person saw me, he immediately recoiled in fright, gripping his sword tightly and pointing the blade at me.

“Aaaaah! Nocturnal clan! It’s the Nocturnal clan!” The man looked at me in horror.

“Huh? Nocturnal clan?” I was stunned. How did I suddenly become a vampire?!

Then, behind him, a large group of armored soldiers rushed over quickly, all drawing their swords and pointing them at me.

“What! Nocturnal clan?! Ah! It’s true! General!” A mage in a crimson Taoist robe, holding a wooden staff, was already starting to cast a magic circle.

“Hey! What are you doing! Don’t attack as soon as we meet!” I tilted my head slightly, putting on a cute act, and asked: “And also, I’m of the Black Feather clan, why have I become Nocturnal clan? Please don’t kill me, could you explain my situation first? We’re all civilized people, don’t be impulsive.” After I said all that, I noticed their movements paused, the mage also stopped, and their faces turned red.

“Ah, what’s wrong with you all?” I continued my cute act.
